saw pvd in seattle last night, much different set then what he played on Thursday. The crowd was a lot better, but soooo packed, and smoking indoors with a club with no open windows, and you can't go outside really sucks. $2 water, though.

Posted by Plump Funk on Jun-18-2005 21:23:

the party was great but was too short, I was shouting "Paul Van" and it was over before I reached "Dyk", 2 hours was just a rip off.
it was great meeting all of u guys, and chris u finally got to see him hes marked off of your list. did anybody get a pic of the guy who was balancing water bottles on his head? too many freak shows.

it was someday, not whiteroom - whiteroom. i heard a faint dripping of the vocals, with is the instrumental/dub version or w.e

:P

I had a good time
*not awesome cuz of some drunken jerks pawing at me >:|*
Wasn't feeling the crowd, oh well.
PVD's set was pretty good, just a bit short....wut happened to playing a 3hr set?!? wikked beats throughout. Some great classics were played!
The water bottle on the head guy is quite popular around raves & clubs.
He even manages to balance 2 bottles on each shoulders, plus the one on his head while dancing!! Some asians, they're crazy...at least they look like they are having fun!?

was good meeting you andrew. hope you found your keys (well im guessing that's obvious by now). hopefully paul or someone there listens to the cd.

he even used drum loops, i'm pretty sure of it, to do some of the transitions. i distinctly heard this one effect, the same kick, and this little growly vocal that if i remember right, said 'bass' or something like that quietly a few times, three different times during the night. excellent if he did, and even if he didn't, mixing was still great.

amen to the 2 hours being so short and time flying, but to the man's credit, he's being flown all over and is tirelessly pumping out sets. we'll have to kidnap him back sometime soon i hope!

i say, as long as they aren't hurting anyone, or making the night uncomfortable for anyone, it's all in good fun. i thought it was entertaining, and MUCH better than at Ferry, where there were a few girls who just wanted attention shaking themselves and their mini skirts on stage beside ferry @ richard's on richard's.

didn't i say it wasn't whiteroom - whiteroom?

well, i was just guessing its final scratch because thats what he used at sensation last year. to be honest, i never looked into the laptop.

actually i thought his mixing could have been better, but hey, no one is perfect. if anything, armin was clearly smoother though.

Posted by tvmann on Jun-18-2005 23:25:

Apparently he recently switched from Final Scratch to a similar laptop/software system, Serato Scratch Live:

i know its a little late, but i have to get my $0.02: that show just kicked my ass!!! i was the guy yelling "YES.. YES!!!! YES!!" when the Nu Nrg remix of streets have no name came on!
nice to meet some fellow TAs: jordie, thanks for the ticket, montyman, thanks for the good times and for taking me farther away where the sound was MUCH better.

i have to say, i enjoyed armin a little better tho.. more crowd interaction and a longer set.. would've been nice if pvd played till 3, or came on earlier..

all in all: awesome show!!

Nice pics!

Is The Beat 94.5 FM a sponsor or something? Since when do they ever play Paul Van Dyk? It seems like The Beat is displayed at all these EDM shows at Plush.

displayed, maybe. they had stuff parked outside. did they participate? as far as i could tell, hell no.

i saw a guy run around with a video camera for like 5 seconds, and all he did was film the attention..loving.. people in the cages. im pretty sure paul wasn't even there yet.

and they only play pete tong and radio one briefly becuase half his sets on radio 1 contain stuff they play occasionally on the beat anyways, from what i could tell from a few listens. but that's a different story.

Posted by Mark on Jun-19-2005 21:48:

i don't listen to the radio since i disabled the antenna on my car but perhaps the beat airs advertisements for some of the events?

Hmm...sounds like some kind of "arrangement" between The Beat and Plush. Let us "park" our stuff in, around and outside your club, especially during the EDM nights, and we won't...badmouth your club on-air.

side ferry @ richard's on richard's.

It's interesting... I always thought he used Final Scratch too, and have seen him, and been close to his laptop many a time...

I saw him on Thursday in Vancouver, and again Friday here in Seattle... he was using Rane's Serato Scratch Live, not Final Scratch.

I was about 3 feet from the decks, front row center at Element in Seattle all Friday night, and saw it with my own eyes...

DoubleA

EDIT: Heh... I should probably read the full thread, as this isn't news anymore

Great Show. I love PvD everytime i see him. This was not his best but it was definetly good. Im glad Twisted brought him and im aware he takes a lot to book but i wish they wouldn't advertise things like "3 HOUR SET" and not even be close to that. That is completly unprofessional and in my world they call it a lie. But Twiste is Twisted. I would also like some respect to PvD from crappy clubs like Plush that turn the lights on at exactly 2 while one of the best tracks ever made is being played.

PS: Those people banging themselves into others is rude and idiotic. They can take themselves and their drugs outside and bang their heads into the wall out there for all i care. They should not be allowed to such events.
