Originally posted by robin I copied the title from that thread about what movies taught us and only changed 'movies' to 'the internet'. I knew it was wrong. I wanted this thread to be similar to the other one (about movies) even in the title. Oh by the way, bitching about someone's 'grammer', who does not use english as a first language, is really sad. But if you post something funny we'll forget about it

Originally posted by willson Sorry,I did not mean it in that context,I should check my grammar before posting maybe, I meant that it showed me that I can find it funny,as I do not find everything about people who are worse off funny, but I laugh sometimes at things that I usually would not in life that are on the net,I find it sickening actually as I am now beomcing more sick and twisted. Sorry for offending anyone. I did not mean it in the way that I wrote it. Infact,I do not think I have even made any sense in writing this, makes sense to me though

I should have tried to come up with atleased one funny reply before I started this
The internet has taught me things.. but those are actually usefull and not nearly funny
My cor threads suck

If anything, the internet has taught me that you can walk up to random women, give them money and bone them in your van. 100% success rate, apparently.
if there's one thing the internet has taught me...its that you're all a bunch of 1's and 0's, and not real anyway
unless i've talked to you outside of TA, then MAYBE you're real

I've learned a lot about the social world
1) A person might be character A online, but character B in person
2) A person might be character B online, but character A in person
i.e. ........you might be aggressive, and talk a lot of shit online, but a complete nerd and wuss in real life. OR you might be a complete nerd, say the stupidest chet online, but be a really really cool person to hang out with.
Then there's people who are AA and BB, which is completely chillin and something I appreciate.
I've also learned that there's most definitely Forum Politics.
There are certain ways to get well known and/or generally accepted in an online forum. Doesn't matter the theme, for us its music, what matters is how you present yourself.
Things that matter:
1) The vernacular in which you speak. I.e. certain words you use a lot or general slang. 1337, n00b, "chillin", "mint", "classic"
just little things like that.
2) Whether you are a female. Mainly important in male dominated forums such as this one. Unfortunately, around here, you are male until proven otherwise.
3) Are you attractive? Can you get men or women and can you communicate this effectively through the intarweb? Believe it or not, even a GUY who thinks you might be a playa in life or can get girls will respect you a little bit more than if he thought you were a complete nerd that stayed in his home. All those girl advice threads are typically hoping for some one with actual real life experience to help you out. And if it's you asking, then it's you appreciating the help
4) Are you a shit talker? If you say you're drunk, are you drunk? It's all about truth value on this one. Once you have gained the acceptance that you are, in fact, telling the truth- you're straight.
5) Are you annoying? Anyone who posts too many new threads with ghey topics IS annoying. Anyone who acts like a pompous asshole IS annoying. Any girl that posts way too many pictures of herself is an attention whore- thus annoying for some, and fapfap worthy for others.
6) How long have you been a member? Duration of membership is important. If you have been a member for 2 years, you might have more say and more input to contribute to certain topics. Just like if you've been a member for 5yrs you might have more than the n00b with only 2yrs under his belt.
7) Presentation of avatar, sig, and location. These are just general values that present a nice little way of communicating to the cyber world who you are, and what you like. If you got one cool avy, or sig- people will notice.
Ok i cant think of any more.

...how easy is to get lazy.

Originally posted by Moral Hazard Sorry about that, I saw a soft spot and attacked. Honestly I never bothered to check where you were from. BTW, my grammer in French is horrible, I've been told by a friend of mine that if it weren't for my Anglo accent most French speaking people would think I was retarded.
