What the hell, are you kidding? Ampz' show isn't up to your standards?

Christ, I'll do the goddamn voiceovers or something, I was always told to go into broadcast shit.

Posted by smuncky on Jun-21-2005 19:08:

y not put armin in teh friday night 12am slot??

Posted by Maxx on Jun-21-2005 19:50:

The armin show is for after the live to air.

Honestly guys the live to airs is what keeps us going right at this moment. As we continue to grow and use this as growth, we will get more local shows, more music, more production.

Runing a station of this caliber isn't easy, and its late hours, wich means your clock is all messed up.

We have to design, sell, market, impliment, dj, and do everything all at once. Just bare with us.

I appreciate your suggestions though and will work on making things better.

Is there a way we could have votes, or suggestions in mass form ?

Thumbs up

Good stuff, keep the groovy tunes coming!!!

Posted by Maxx on Jun-21-2005 20:08:

ps. In order to get away from live to airs, you need sponsors and commerial adds. You can't sell to major companies without Fm ratings. Chin doesn't have any. So you have to move on how many people know you.

Chin doenst care if we have a billion listeners, or support. They care about us paying the bill, thats it.

I'm very pleased with what we've done, and I think we have moved a lot further than anyone else in the Toronto EDM radio.

Thanks for the support people.

Send us a demo we'd love to hear you.

why not use the unused Friday slot for the type of show im talking about? you dont even have to do the show live. Syndicated shows are pre-recorded.

Posted by Maxx on Jun-22-2005 03:37:

because this night MUST have a client attached to it. There is no way around it unless you have an idea on how to cover the bill.

thursdays, Fridays and Sats must have income based shows.

Posted by Spam on Jun-22-2005 04:47:

Actually Jay, the first thing they need to do is get their asses onto a real frequency, 99% of people in Toronto think 100.7 is a punjab/chinese station.

well what do you have there now? Obviously its not generating income. And doing a syndicated type show may not generate income right away, but eventually you could sell it if it was quality material.

Posted by Maxx on Jun-22-2005 13:50:

it will be a live to air very shortly. Period end of discussion lol.

very well said, this is the next step. But as we all know not just anyone can get it you need to have credability and show you can pull in the $$

You should use a wednesday for the type of show i describe or even sunday night. Sunday 12-2 would be perfect actually.

Posted by Maxx on Jun-22-2005 14:52:

Sunday starts at 1am. We have a paying client on our station from 1-2. 2-3 we have that very show. Luke Native from Montreal and we have revolutions. A program that features new canadian Music, talent and Interview from Top djs around the world.

Wed is back with the Executive Mix. We feature new tracks, talk about industry and Club246 Happenings. We also feature guest mixes and Maxx Mixes. This also airs in Los Angeles. We have a lot of fun doing it. Its been going on for about 4 years now and was the first show on GGN before we took it over.

I'll have to give that a listen

Posted by Spam on Jun-22-2005 17:39:

Hey, do you think during your live-to-airs you could try letting us listen to the music every once in a while? And I don't mean the 1-3 songs per hour that we get right now.

I'm tired of listening to some Gino talk for an hour about the 2 hot girls he's been hitting on all night.

I'm tired of listening to the Host and somebody else talk about nothing while I try to listen to the song in the background (I missed After All (Satoshi Tomeii Remix) because of this, I was pissed).

I want to hear some MUSIC when I tune into Club246, whether it's a live-to-air or a syndicated program. When Paul the Engineer does his thing on Fridays it's awesome. Think that could be arranged for the rest of the programming?

Posted by Maxx on Jun-22-2005 17:45:

There are certain methods we have that are on the air during the hour. Shout outs, interviews, addresses of the clubs, simple chatter. We do this also to overtalk some of the mixes and tracks as we don't want recordings of them.

I hear what you are trying to say and this will be addressed with a proper format for live to airs. But at the end of the day you'll need to come out to the live to airs to experience the full music and Vibe.

We want some interaction and some personal touches other than just music.

I will have the Program Director make a schedule for the shows and the live to airs, that each person will follow. I will post it on here for your feedback.

Thanks so much for the info, I appreciate it.

Paul does an amazing Job hence why hes at the Top of my list for any live to airs or shows. We've worked together for years.

If you notice he does a lot of callers, last week he did over an hour of them, just so people can get on the air. Its the interaction that makes it all that much fun.

Very Brief station IDs would solve that problem. A brief Station ID strategically placed would be a lot less annoying than "yo guy..look at these girls yo!" every 5 mins. As long as people know that it came from club 246 whats the problem with recording?

I don't listen to radio shows to hear that. I want to hear the music. This is why i often do prefer the imported syndicated shows. They are much more professionally done. You wanted to get feedback from this thread. Well now you have it. Instead of trying to fight against it you should accept the constructive critism and take it into account during your broadcasts. I think you guys are doing a great thing by putting dance music back on the radio, i just think you could make it even better and with suggestions such as mine and spam's as well as other TA's on here, i think it's possible.

Call in shows are fine if thats what they are supposed to be. But you guys are supposed to be running a club format show, not CFRB for ginos LOL

Posted by Jayx1 on Jun-22-2005 17:59:

PS: i remember 1 groove used to have a rule that you could only talk every 15 mins or every half hour. Something like that. Thats why i liked their shows. The talking was only one in awhile and it was usually relevant to what was being played. Usually the Dj would tell you what you just listened to and then prompt people to call in for a prize or something. None of the "yo guy... im hammered buddy" BS. LOL

Posted by Maxx on Jun-22-2005 18:05:

We still want people talking though, but good point. Like I said a Format will be in place asap.

We do also want a bit of talk shows, a bit or music locally, a bit of live to airs, a bit of calls and professional syndicated ones.

It must be well rounded on all fronts.

And I am taking note of your comments, but there are more than just you guys listening and we do get emails as well.

You are correct about the "yo look at the girls" thanks

Anyways back to work, if there is anything else about what we have currently let me know cheers

Posted by Jayx1 on Jun-22-2005 18:08:

anytime... i know some of this feedback is a bit negative but we only want to see a strong. professional show that people will take seriously. It will make listening a much more enjoyable experience. I think in many ways you could use this show to draw people into the scene.

Local Djs back in the late 80s - early 90s along with Energy 108 is what made Toronto not just another north american city.

Look what happened once 108 folded. Our scene collapsed. Anyone who thinks you can have a strong scene without radio support is sadly mistaken. This is why i hope nothing but the best success for you and I hope you take our critisms in a positive way.

Posted by Maxx on Jun-22-2005 18:22:

Thanks man you are right. I am going to spend the next week making it happen. I sometimes have other shit to worry about. I love the scene, the people and radio. Nothing more that I want.

I also love this board as people aren't just yelling at you, like Tribe, they try and help.

Much respect

Posted by Maxx on Jun-22-2005 18:23:

ps have a listen to the executive mix tonight and let me know how you like it. Done proper

Posted by EvilDust on Jun-22-2005 21:59:

I just gotta say that you guys are sitting on a gold mine with this station

needs more variety though 'cause I seem to be hearing the same songs every night (although they are awesome!) I guess you just need more airtime.

btw, no live-to-air from afterlife tonight?
