REVIEW

When I arrived at the AMP, they screwed up the line somehow. We were supposed to line up outside, not the inner line. Great work, tools. It was $12 to get in. When I got inside, Mondo was spinning....trance? I asked Matt (mrmorden) "Doesn't Mondo play something else?" And he told me "Breaks." I liked what Mondo was playing, for sure! I was expecting some other worthless tripe when I got in, but no bad songs at all. I was pleasantly surprised.

DJ Santana and Suzy Solar, back to back.

Can we say, best opening EVER? All great, dancable tunes. I was sober just about the entire night (quite UNLIKE my first visit to AMP ) and I soooo enjoyed everything they played. AMP was also a 180 degree opposite as far as the conditions were concerned. Nice, brisk and cool. Crowded, but not like a sardine central like when Tisto was there, or so I heard.

Ferry finally came on and delivered an even BETTER set than the one at ZINC. AMP just went nuts. When Force of Gravity came on, a lot of people sang to it. 2 encores, including Ferry's remix of Adagio for Strings. Sick. After it was all said and done, Ferry took the time to sign CDs and flyers. This one pregnant chick wanted Ferry to sign...her stomach. (Ummm.....EWWW!!!) Even Ferry had to draw the line there. I think Paul (DJ Santana) signed it, though. OMGWTFBBQ.

This was defintely my fav. night out of the Orlando and Tampa nights. But both of these events were worth the trip up from Fort Lauderdale solo, and when Ferry comes back, you know I'ma do it again.

In the words of Damon....

TRANCE TRANCE TRANCE TRANCE TRANCE

And in my own words below...

Don't like it? Take the BBQ and shove it up your ass.

Cheers.

Wooooo! What a night. Definitely a night to be remembered in the greatest night of Tampa Bay! Suzy and I were so excited to be able to open for Ferry. We were having trouble deciding who would actually have the opening set. So, we agreed to do a tag team set. In the whole hour we got to spin both of us played twice. About 10 minutes before Ferry was to start the big screen lowered so the crowd would know its about that time. When Ferry entered the stage area people immediately began giving him a warm welcome. As mentioned above Ferry was extremely down to earth and humble. Over the years Ive met hundreds of djs and have never met anyone so sociable to everyone there. Pics, autographs, hand shakes. Even while spinning he would find the time to take a picture or sign an autograph.

Ferrys set was 100% trance in your face. He started with some classics that had the hair on my arms standing straight up. As his set progressed played some new titles and of course some Ferry Corsten hits. There was only one other time at the AMP that came close to the vibe Ferry was carrying. Ferry owned the room last night.

After we headed over to Paul G.s house and chilled there for a little. (Thanks Paul, for letting us invade your home.) Alison (my wife) and I had the opportunity to sit and chat with Lia Corsten, who was so sweet. We talked about Ferry, where he came from and where hes been, how he got started in all this craziness. She definitely inspired me to keep up with producing. People there took lots of pictures and did some shots of who knows what. At about 5am I was feeling a little beat so Alison and I headed home.

I hope everyone had a great time. Definitely a night I will never forget. Ferry you are a genuine guy. Keep up the good work. Alison and I wish you and Lia all the best. I look forward to seeing you more often in the near future. Suzy, it was so fun mixing with you. We should do it again (how about in September?). Mondo & Paul G, Thanks for having me at this event. I hope there will be many more.

Santana! I definitely had a great time spinning with you too. Ya let's do it again in Sept.

Mondo played some rockin tunes. I'm really happy to see him get into playing trance.

I think that last night had to be the best trance night in Tampa to date, and I really hope that the Amp brings Ferr back again really soon.

TAs: It was really awesome to see you all again. You guys are like family to me:-)

I have a gallery from last night that I will post within the week.
Viva la trance!

You should hear Space. The Amp's is pitch perfect in comparison, at least I can hear the melody.

Posted by mrmorden on Jun-24-2005 23:24:

BTW, I'm putting up my photo gallery Here

Posted by Avalonrc on Jun-24-2005 23:34:

yup

been to space, there system is good, crobar = sick system, the old twilo in nyc = sick system, avalon nyc/bos = sick system, the old soundfactory nyc = really sick system.
Or they could just adjust it for when different dj's come. I know amp is big on the break dj's so they got that bass tweaked. It's loud as all hell in there though

Posted by mrmorden on Jun-24-2005 23:47:

Ok, this is a dedicated fan. She tried to get Ferry to sign, but he couldn't reach from the stage...

Posted by Avalonrc on Jun-24-2005 23:52:

Posted by ClubGoddess on Jun-25-2005 00:04:

Satan (eek!) wow

clubgoddess = money, you are money! i just joined this bored and had my eye open for seta's but they were very blurry. Any idea what who is coming to tampa next? I hate the fact that "real" dj's are coming to tampa and I am gettin a little to old to be banging it out at clubs.... but I make exceptions

Getting a little old? Dude, I was born in the same year as you...I only started clubbing in '02. You can never be too old. And I sure as hell don't act my age, either. Fuck that getting too old shit.

Posted by Avalonrc on Jun-25-2005 00:23:

Dancing Dude thank you

i just needed a little support! Now i can get back in the saddle

Posted by BshidoHEAT on Jun-25-2005 00:25:

You can never be too old. I just wish my cousin felt the same way.
