-- Why does almost everyone think that Tiesto suck?
Pages (6): « 1 [2] 3 4 5 6 »
iv only even been dissapointed in Tiesto once... and that was due to a technical dificulty at global gathering....
other than that he has absolutly blew the place away whenever i have seen him, his 3 hour set at the Passion Birthday was unbeatable,
he has done more for trance than most DJs,
being the best DJ isnt all about how u mix
all the people who constatly slate him are just childish fools IMO nobody should get so much shit just because they are no.1

Iv spoke to quite a few Djs
Matt Hardwick is such a nice guy, he actually came over to me an said he recognised me from somwer, i was quite flattered. Lisa Lashes is sooo nice aswell.
Ferry an armin are also both nice lads, as is MIKE, John O Callahagn, Judge Jules and 1 of the guys from rank 1
PVD tends to look miserable while DJing
but when he played at cream not so long ago he was wasted, he was actually jumping up and down in the background while NU NRG wer on..
then in his set he was goin over to the crowd to read msgs on ppl phones taht they wer tryin to show him, seemd so happy and bouncy then, but thats the only time iv seen him like that
You can't say if the dj is rude or arrogant or whatever based on how he performed with the crowd on that specific day that you saw him. I've seen Tiesto just walk off on his crowd a couple times but that doesn't make him an asshole or anything. I'm sure if you knew him in person you'd say "oh he's such a good person and shit". Maybe he walked off for certain reasons, security or safety of his fans when he sees people go literally insane. So you can't say that he's an asshole just by something that you saw him do. You have to know a person in order to judge them properly.
And in terms of music, if you hate Tiesto that's fine, hate him because you don't like certain things about him or you like another dj more. But please don't fucking come to his concert then and go crazy and yell out TI-ES-TO because nothing pisses me off more than those people that talk shit about Tijs and then you see them in the corner going crazy at his gig. Tiesto has done so much for the trance world, not too many dj can show such a level of achievements. It's like saying Paul Oakenfold sucks. He may not be nearly as good now but the man created this kind of music so you have to show respect to him. Tiesto's music has it's own style, just like Armin has his own and Ferry has his own and so on. But there are some dj's that dont' have their own style, they kind of mix it up. Tiesto is definately not one of these dj's. His music has it's own style and it's called Magik Musik. Please people, if you hate him dont' go out and talk shit and then go secretly worshipping him. I don't like certain dj's but i dont' talk shit about them. I respect them anyhow for the music they are trying to produce but i just don't like that music or whaever and that's all. I don't go out there and talk shit about these dj's. Anyway it's 3:33am here in Toronto, so it's time to make a wish
dito...

it's interesting to hear so many people have such bad experiences meeting him. i had a few great one's. two of my guy friends and i ran into him at a hotel. he took the time to identify tracks from one of his old live sets off of an old portable cd player my friend had. then he invited us up to his room for signings. another person i know went to see him on broadway (in san diego) and handed tiesto his record, and tiesto played it. i was there, he definitely played it, unfortunately the record skipped. it's always terrible when you get treated badly and are disrespected. but, from tiesto, i had a totally different experience.

i think people love him becuase he influenced them...and 90% of people who attend clubs and events dont give a rats ass about how he mixes but how the music hits them. you need to know that not every fan is a dj and not every fan cares if a dj mixes like a fucking machine.
Ive never seen him live. So I cant hate.
Ive only heard him live and his albums. Personally, there are other DJ's and producers out there...the fame that preceeds Tiesto is a bit overrated. His producing doesnt impress me...I find it a bit dull...compared to some other producers with more variety.
DJ'ing though...I have no problem with it.
I like Tiesto...but thats just me and my limited experience with him.
You all amaze me saying that you hate Tiesto and don't even give any reasons, I am begining to believe that you all are just followers. And to say that Tiesto immitates? What is that? And Armin Van Buuren even? Well, I just hope that some of you think about what you are going to say before you say it. And giving a DJ a record to play is very, very rude. For more than half of you I am guessing, go see a DJ live before you say anything else. Last but not least, DJs, all of them, yes all of them no matter how much you like, follow, or worship them, have their own rough times and bad shows, so just a friendly reminder, think before you speak.

| Originally posted by eFeKz I too feel that Tiesto is a subpar DJ. His compilations are somewhat weird to begin with, they're like their own genre of trance..take a small peek of how Tiesto remixed Motorcycle's - As the Rush Comes.... I think the only reason Tiesto has gotten so much hype is due to Armin van Buuren featuring his compilations and remixes on his A State of Trance shows and such, along with Paul Oakenfold featuring his goodies too. Personally, I think Tiesto is a cling-on to famous DJ's, an imitator, not an originator. Ah well, not the DJ for me. |

| Originally posted by Guerrilla Paul Van Dyk does a better job than Tiesto? Are you serious? I think that Paul Van Dyk is the DJ who does not deserve to be #2. I've been 3 times on his shows during the last 3 month; and I can say that compare to Tiesto or even Ferry Corsten, this German is a way below (in my opinion). But what I most do not like about Paul Van Dyk is his fucked up attitude toward the crowd and other DJ's. |

Tiesto opened the floodgates for Dutch trance. I'm not saying I dislike the other Dutch dj's, but they would be far from where they are now if Tiesto didn't make "Dutch" and "Trance" synonymous. And also, you could be techinically the best mixer in the world, but if you play 50 shitty tracks, no one is going to like you. But if you are even mediocre at mixing and have an awesome track selection and ability to read a crowd, more people will like you. Mixing is NOT the only standard by which a dj should be judged. And I have met Tiesto several times. He has always been more than willing to just relax and talk to people. I met him before and after he was voted #1 and he seems the same person to me. He talks to people more at his smaller gigs because there are too many assholes at the larger ones. |
