yeah Orson Welles either wrote it or did the radio broadcast
it supposedly scared the shit out of a lot of people. i thought it happened in like the 20's or 30's when radio was really popular.

can u imagine that? sitting at home listening to your fav radio program then all of a sudden there are intermitten interruptions saying earth is under attack??
quote:

As it listened to this simulation of a news broadcast, created with voice acting and sound effects, a portion of the audience concluded that it was hearing an actual news account of an invasion from Mars. People packed the roads, hid in cellars, loaded guns, even wrapped their heads in wet towels as protection from Martian poison gas, in an attempt to defend themselves against aliens, oblivious to the fact that they were acting out the role of the panic-stricken public that actually belonged in a radio play. Not unlike Stanislaw Lem's deluded populace, people were stuck in a kind of virtual world in which fiction was confused for fact.

I thought the ending to this movie was terrible. There was NO climax. There was no "Fuck yeah aliens! You're all gonna die bitches!" part. There was no "Swing away, Meryl. Swing away." part. All of a sudden, the aliens start dying. Whoopie doo! The ending totally killed a pretty good movie. I dug the whole first 3/4 of it. But the ending... bleh. I'll stick to Independence Day.

entertaining movie. me and avikonen went to go see it tonight before cielo... very anticlimactic.... yo, robbie was so dead. fuck that hollywood ending shit!

good stuff.. hollywood cheese to numb your mind

Saw this movie today and i thought it was bad. it was all good till the ships and stuff started coming out of the ground. it was just soo fake idk it pissed me off. and the bird idk whats up with them, i've seen better at least i didn't pay anyway to see it heh

I personally liked the movie but maybe I was just preoccupied by all the special effects. I didn't really like the ending that well also....that kid totally should have been killed for being such a hard ass. But hey....it's only a movie.

Wasnt that like 20 minutes into the film or something? Not much happened there.

How in the world did Robbie survive that explosion...

Posted by Shamez214 on Jul-01-2005 18:41:

This should've been one of like... 1 movies I can think of where the good guys lose. Bad guys never win and this would've been the perfect movie to have the aliens/bad guys win. But the perfect movie where the bad guy should've won is Broken Arrow. The nuke should've went off... Pussy ass Hollywood thinks we're not ready for some shit like that. Lick my balls and take a chance. Steven Spielberg is a pussy.

I was gonna see it last night but alisa and i decided to stay home and watch "Monster" , what a great movie..... The music was amazing and just added soo much to the film... Which itself was great... I still cant believe that was Charlize Theron.

Posted by trancEyes22 on Jul-01-2005 20:13:

i loved it! i was def on the edge of my seat the whole way through. very intense..and i thought there was a plot?? aliens attacking sounds like a plot to me

Not worth my $18.

Posted by BiG MiKE on Jul-02-2005 00:49:

you paid $18 for what? lol.

I just saw this movie, and I absolutely loved it. The movie had some of the most wonderfully brutal scenes ever, including those where panick-stricken crowds show the ugliness of the human psyche. As an experience of extermination and sheer doom it topped both "Independence Day" and "Titanic". Jesus, I'm impressed!
Yes, there's no plot, and yes all the protagonists are annoying as hell - but that just adds so much to the realism. The only quirks was the two endings: the overall hurried one following the arrival in Boston, and the Hollywood happy-ever-after one. But these are minor issues with such a great movie. It's like complaining about the last turn on Kingda Ka.

How about "Requiem for a Dream"? I certainly don't remember breathing heavy sights of relief at the end of that one. "Moulin Rouge" has a pretty heartwrenching ending too. "The Return" is pretty grissly in the end as well.
