the reporters here are saying that its just for bargaining leverage. honestly though, the guy was shit until last year. he actually admitted that he ate mcdonalds after every game during his first couple of years in the league. no wonder the guy had heart problems. appearently, he stopped eating mcdonalds before the last season started.

people have high expectations for this guy .. i think he would be a better eastern conference power forward / center .. it benefited jermaine oneal, so it should benefit swift ..

although swift is far away from oneal's status, swift has potential to make it big .. but if the nets are going for swift, then how can they afford shareef ?? .. jay-z must be really throwing down the bucks .. probably had to tap the rocawear account to afford these two players ..

pat riley going to the heat?

quote:
With no commitment from Pat Riley -- and no emphatic, public denials -- speculation continues to mount that the team's president will take the reins from Stan Van Gundy and coach the Miami Heat next season.

"Pat Riley has indicated to Stan Van Gundy in reports I have received that he intends to return as coach of the Heat," ESPN analyst Dr. Jack Ramsay told the network on air Thursday. "I don't know where this leaves Stan Van Gundy, but I'm pretty certain that Riley will return as coach."

Ramsay, a Hall of Fame coach and a former TV analyst for the Heat, indicated the coaching change is expected in the next week or two.

"I haven't heard anything," Van Gundy told the Miami Herald for Friday's editions, declining further comment. Van Gundy, who has two years remaining on his contract, said recently he would work for the Heat only as their head coach.

Ramsay said he spoke with Riley during the NBA playoffs, and Riley indicated that he missed the rush of coaching. Although Shaquille O'Neal reportedly was unhappy at not getting the ball in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Pistons, there has been no sign that Heat players have pushed for Van Gundy's ouster; in fact, according to the Herald, several players have privately expressed that Van Gundy remain coach.

In eight seasons as the Heat's coach, Riley's teams were 354-270 in the regular season and 18-25 in the playoffs. Riley won four championships with the Lakers and also coached the Knicks before joining the Heat in 1995.

Owner Micky Arison is not believed to have asked Riley to resume coaching the team, a high-ranking team official told the Herald.

yup, anyways all the top NBA teams, startin with the spurs are lookin good on the free agency, they are locked all they have to do is get the bench stronger. Detroit, no moves yet, maimi is lookin pretty good, phoneix..hmmm i think they need some big men, a good center and of course DEFENCE if they want to have a chance at the finals next year, well what do u guys think about next year? like any predictions on the comming season? or is it to early to say.

did you hear the news that boston is trying out taylor coppenwrath from vermont ?? .. this guy is interesting .. it isn't a fluke that he scored all those points, and vermont winning all those games .

Posted by Kapedano on Jul-16-2005 00:32:

yeah well there will be a suprise team but i still think the spurs come off the west, and miami in the east, but its still to early.

according to people, no one can come close to sabonis .. because of the late cycle of basketball internationalization in the 90s, we missed the "peak years" of sabonis .. they say he is the best european big man out there ever .. .. too bad we missed those years .. coulda helped drexler, porter, kersey, and the gang beat the bulls maybe ??? .. or maybe to early back for sabonis ?

Posted by Member of X on Jul-17-2005 22:04:

Yes, Sabonis' prime would have been right in the peak of the Blazers 90's championship contender teams. Yeah you think replacing Kevin Duckworth with a much healthier and athletic Sabonis would have helped? Duckworth was a piece of crap, the only weak link to those teams. Sabonis is the Michael Jordan of European basketball, he's a God over there. Best passing big man I've seen and could really pop the 3 on occasion. I love Sabonis even though Shaq would eat him up at times. But that's Shaq...

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Jul-18-2005 00:15:

that was messed up when Rasheed threw the towell right in Sabonis face.
I never believed any of those storys i heard about Riley coaching again when I heard about it 3 weeks ago.Every time Ive heard him talk he s always said how much he loves the free time of just being in the front office rather than the grueling coaching schedule. He s very good friends with Stan and he woudnt play him off like that. However he did take to long to clear the rumor to the media, wierd.
