Fundacion has great flow.

for me personally, involver was a super-well put together cd that mixed a range of sounds (outside of dance music) as well in a really classy way.

fundacion too is quite a well put together cd with a couple of particularly bright moments and covers a range of edm. but it's sounds are more on the experimental side... having been to 3 fundacion nyc gigs, i don't think the overall cd captures the sound of the live gigs much at all! but then sasha only claims to have used the residency for inspiration, this is not supposed to capture its sound. the cd itself is really well done... it just doesn't feature the clubby sasha tracks i'd like to see, but i can understand sasha's reluctance to do that... it's been done and it's boring for someone who has done it really well a long time before. he's tried to go somewhere new with it and he succeeded at that. its a great cd but overall involver wins in a tremendous way!

McLaren F1

Both great. I haven't listened to fundacion enough to compare, I do like the 3xLP though.

Posted by Clovis on Jul-12-2005 09:56:

Funny I was just listening to Involver.

I love both...but technically its clear that Fundacion is just way beyond involver.

Fundacion is ahead of its time...people dont like it because its too different...

...which is why I like it

completely different kinds of albums

are you sure you weren't given a tiesto cd by mistake?

i thought involver was good. i've been slowly getting out of progressive so probably it isn't my thing anymore. fundacion, i've just only heard it once, but wasn't too impressed. it's decent, but nowhere near the hype. the ableton mixing sounds ultra smooth at times but very dodgy at others, like percurssions clashing all over the place (am i the only one that noticed this?!), it just generally sounds mechanic instead of natural which isn't good. sasha gets bonus points for including 3 or 4 very good tracks but the rest aren't great, perhaps they need to grow on me.

so, overall, i'd say involver is a bit better but my opinion could change.

Oh stop the bullshit, they ARE comparable. They're both mixed music cd's by Sasha, which means they fall both into some category, that doesn't happen with a McLaren F1 and a bowl of chicken soup. The difference is that in Involver Sasha "dismounted" the tracks into pieces, remixed a bit each one of them then mixed it. In Fundacion he tries to do the same, without "dismounting" the tracks, but rather dealing with what he is given (the full tracks), focusing more on the mixing as one piece and less of the remixing track by track. Is this really that different? Hell, I'd say they aren't even very far off in musical style/genres.

Meneedit doesn't post complete shite shocker!

Fundacion is boring and whatever he used to make it Ableton it didn't do a thing for me

Posted by Elior on Jul-12-2005 17:21:

I like most of the elecro-ish Sasha style nowadays, and all the unique and verasitle tunes he play in his sets, but Fandacion just didn't do it for me, unlike Involver.

Bought Fundacion last week.. but haven't had the time to listen to it carefully yet. Pretty new style to me (the reason I bought it).. but the snippets I've heard sound cool and I think it'll grow on me :E

I like both but I can listen to Involver at any time of the day while I only listen to Fundacion when I want a certain atmosphere..

I like all tracks on Involver except the last two, as for Fundacion there aren't any particular tracks that I like specifically, it's just the whole mix that sounds great imo.

So at the end I prefer Involver.

Agreed, I also prefer the first half or so of Fundacion over the second half by far. The mixing is so smooth on the entire thing. However, Involver still gets my vote... such smooth transitions, it sounds like one long track.

While on the note of funky and cool progressive, how about Luke Fair - Bedrock Original Series 3? Funky and techy coolness.
