I was kidding about PVD. But the only trance we get is from main stream dj's coming to town. All resident dj's are house, hard house or some techno. So IMO Miami rocks
If you are a "TA" then Miami does suck lately. What I mean is the people who purely love "trance" music; their number once choice. You hardly hear it anymore anywhere. Ocassionaly you do, or when a big name like Tiesto, PVD, Ferry, etc. comes to town. But after a while some people get tired of the same thing over and over. No variety! Again, I'm talking about the "trance heads" out there.
As for Miami being the "meca", I have to disagree. In the world, no way! But in the USA, I could see it as the meca. To me, anything overseas leads the way in EDM, hands down! They try different things and stick to it. Here in Miami, if it doesn't go well one time, it's a failure and quite possibly won't get another chance anytime soon UNLESSS it's suddenly getting popularity. Miami is a trendy place. Whatever is "in" at the time, that's what Miami is all about. Just look at Hip Hop. Literally taking over South Beach. Luckily we still have Space and now Nocturnal who will stick to EDM, even tho it's mostly house
All in all, Miami is the shit! It's an awesome place to be (except summer...too hot!
) The ladies are incredile
the clubbing is great, but I understand the frustrations.
My 2 cents...

the UK dance scene a few years ago owned the world. we had every major DJ here atleast once a month. in a way we were the victim of our own sucess. it was so strong for so long, people got bored of armin, pvd, ferry, signum etc and it just wasnt as good anymore.
our dance scene isnt half what it was. ive gone from going over 50 times a year to probably 4 times.
Honestly, this is one of the few city's that have a great nightlife... just be open minded and enjoy, there's a lot of great stuff out here. And more coming our way.

on a more frequent basis sure, but u got to realise i had either armin, tiesto, ferry, pvd, or atleast one of the top 30 trance acts playing, and i could see any travelling anything between 10 miles and 50 miles, which is nothing. if u spread that out across the country, it was insane. after it being like that for years, then it started to die. Gatecrasher dissolving didnt help, but i think slowly the trance DJ's are turning more to the states and less to europe.

i was talking about the US, i cant comment on europe because ive never been. but edm over there is like hip hop and rock over here, its everywhere thats the thing in europe. so of course that is where most of the trance and progressive tracks we love come from. the UK and holland being ground zero. but if im not mistaken house originated in the US, chicago, being one the bigger players in the advent of that genre. so that is why i think house music still rules the scene in the US edm-wise. my history and i might be wrong tho.

| Originally posted by DJ_Release Miami does suck indeed The clubbing scene is crap, I bet it's much worse than NY or Chicago, and even Atlanta (yes I said it) they get much more "quality" events unlike here when we get the same people every two or three months (e.g. Kleinenberg, Fanciulli, Deep Dish) I personally tend to get bored seeing the same guys every so often and don't even get me started with our residents... if a guy is not playing at a given club then it's most likely he's playing at a different club that night. We probably have about 6 or 7 guys that are residents in every fucking club, what kinda shit is that??? Don't tell me we don't have enough good DJs, and even if that was the case isn't anyone else from out of state brought to be a resident here. Let's face nightlife here sucks, we tend to run out of options because the parties are always the same (same residents = same music every night) PLus there are no underground parties like in Europe, those people who try to bring us something different are brought down in a matter or weeks if not days because of lack of support by clubs and by party goers So don't tell me we have a great scene here in Miami, could it be much worse? probably, but it still is really bad |

| Originally posted by Renzo We have Groove Eric's Tuesday night residency @ BLUE and, every now and again, a great Friday party that Koky throws. Koky has the passion for it and he makes it happen. It's that simple. Aside from that, if you wanna hear great trance, all you need to do is go to one of the TA house parties. |
