I dont mind judging this one if ppl are required. not a massive fanatic of the original so im pretty impartial. will look at it very professionally

Posted by PDM on Jul-24-2005 20:26:

I'll post a list of the participants as it goes as for the judges, I'm not planning to get that many Massive84, maybe a max of 5 including myself, and the judges will remain secret.

I'll pm you requesting your help judging this.

Now let me give you some tips for this contest.

* If your reason for participating is to appeal to Yahel and get him release your remix, then you should check out his label and see what kind of music he is looking for, I assure you he is not looking for Electro or Drum & Bass.

* Be original in your remixes, anyone would be impressed to hear a remix that tho it keeps the main melody intact, the structure of the whole track is different and pleasant.

*I know a MIDI is very helpful, but try without the MIDI, try coming out with the melody by ear, you'll be surprised that you made a different arrangement to that melody while keeping its harmony intact, nice touch!

quote:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: No sampling from the original, not a single riff, if any of the judges notice this, they will desqualify you right away, with no second chances.

ah sorry, missed that bit

Hey. Count me in I guess but you fail to mention a deadline in the first post . If you could fill us in on that (preferrably in the first post where all the rules are), then that would be great .

[Edit:]I read through the posts hoping to see a deadline and then saw it it is 2Mo but it still needs to be in the first post .

Cheers,
Zac

by sampling you only mean cutting out part of the track and using it in your production right, it doesnt matter if you use the exact same notes or try and reproduce a similar sound right?

If i were to enter a competition like this i would want to know that the judges are people who actually know what they're talking about when it comes to judging music and not just some random bloke from the forums.. but i know you've had competitions like this before so hopefully that won't be a problem

good luck to everybody competing!

Posted by Aquarian on Jul-25-2005 09:14:

What format/bitrate should we upload?

Oh and by the way, my production name is Xelphore - hope this doesn't cause confusion

if the midi site is down (which i'm informed it is at the moment) you can also grab it from here: http://isoterra.artists.mpfspromoti...ge__unknown.mid

that is actually an improved version of the original & the link i sent PDM so dunno why he didn't use it.. but ah well

Because the MIDI link was not working, and you weren't around to ask you to fix it.

Posted by isoterra on Jul-25-2005 21:33:

woops, i guess that one kinda backfired

Posted by Arctic Breeze on Jul-25-2005 21:33:

Count me in!

Thought of something which I couldn't see in the posts here:

In order to give the judges just remixes and no names, there must be a rule that submissions must be exclusive for this competition and NOT posted on forums, especially TA, until the judging is finished.

There should also be a deadline for the judges to submit results.
