I see a few good ones on there I was hoping they'd make it to the tracklisting like Second Day, Getting Away, Transatlantic. Im suprised there is no Love Simulator though.
Congrats to Gerry and Datt as well!!

too many old overplayed tracks if you ask me

okay Solange - Messages is the way it's staying... Paul never mentions any remixer names on any Politics compilations.

Sadly for you, Paul has been known to steal other musicians ideas, change it a bit and call it his own. Such is the power of his attorneys and marketing. Maybe he will give you special thanks or something.

oh he does? heh but since it's a remix, I don't think there's much I can do about it... and especialy if he has a no remixer recognition rule... but had it been an original track like Bad Color or something, I'd round up my attorneys and get him.

Yeah man... Paul van Dyk feat Second Sun - Crush for instance. That should really be Second Sun - Crush (Paul van Dyk mix). Or his track "Spellbound" is really Second Sun - Change's melody with a PvD twist and Jan's vocals. Always copyright stuff before sending to labels so you get the full credit you deserve.

that sucks... and I wonder why he only ripped second sun... and not anybody else. or maybe Second Sun sold it to Paul who knows... I mean you'd wonder why he would rip the same artist if he could get away with it... I think they could have sold the rights to their tracks to Paul, or signed a contract with tricky wording.
At least with Messages, what was done was kosher tho... it's originaly Solange's tune and the 10 year contract hadn't expired so I really had no right to cover it, the only problem is that Scully (Solange) said I could cover it... but he didn't know until he re-read his contract.
Although it's a stupid rule, why he doesn't put remixer names on it... like I bet that Filo and Peri - Closer Now remix he played was the whiteroom mix, because that's the one all the DJs play.. so if anything, I'm not alone. I strongly disagree with the rule, since remixing can sometimes be just as painful and time-consuming as writing an original track. I mean remixing you're giving an existing track your own flavor, so you should be credited, but there's still nothing I can do about that. I would have to round up every remixer that's on that album to agree what Paul did was wrong, and to take legal action because I'm not going solo on that one, and I'm not crazy about Messages to do that anyway. I'll let this one go, but next time I will keep my eyes on Paul. Plus if it's a general rule and the artists agree on it, then seriously what can I do about it? Absolutely nothing... just make sure that one my original tracks end up on the next POD.
Plus you've also got to read the contracts.. Second Sun may have misread it... it probably said that PvD had all the rights to alter their work and use it in his songs. Even if your song is copyrighted, you sign a contract that says something like that, you're still screwed.

Im let down with the tracklist, because of all the HYPE that surrounded it months and months ago... I must say that the tracklist dont look bad, but to my expectations it kinda blurr... Politics of Dancing 1 was pretty good, Im just not sure if this will surpass... and to b honest, you expect them to surpass. James Holden Nothing is there.. wtf ?
On the Bright Side, I see Jose Amnesia there..

Posted by FallingMoon on Jul-26-2005 19:24:
although I like Nothing...why did he put it on there?
I don't think it belongs whatsoever...
actually after looking at it for a bit I don't get why he put so many older tracks...
what happened to the newest unreleased shit like he did with part 1?
I'm still excited but I really don't understand why Nothing is on there. Come on it was on Tisto's - Nyana

we won't know until it comes out...he never puts what remix it is...BUT I really doubt it UNLESS he edited it himself which will most likely be the case.
Posted by gerrycueto on Jul-26-2005 19:31:
i don't even know why he put my remix of Messages... heh Solange - Messages is 1998 and should stay there... and you're probably all looking at me why i even bothered to remix/cover it... Solange told me I'd go places if I did heheh so I fell for it.

DUUUUDE!! don't even sweat it...you're awesome...I honestly don't think 1998 messages is better than your remix...I think it was a good idea but pvd never puts who remixed what which is totally screwed up...props to you though gerry...I'm sure someone else will pick it up and credit where it's due!
weeeeeeeee <3 you and can't wait till the next house party!!!

to my understanding, the reason the track is staying solange - messages and not gerry cueto - messages is because it's still solange's for 10 years as contracted. and since it was released in 1998, it hasn't been ten years yet. i don't think paul has stolen gerry's track or jipped him, he just can't put his name on it. and we all know that paul never notes remixers and that's something i noticed recently. that's really gay...i mena REALLY.
on another note, i was also wondering why there were so many older tracks. i'm sure they're redone, by himself of course. but still...
the first politics of dancing will always be unbeatable. his style has changed so much in my opinion. from production to selection. but oh well.
Posted by gerrycueto on Jul-26-2005 20:32:
Yeah to me the whole Second Sun incedent sounds like they signed a tricky contract... so they got jipped legally... If it were an illegal jip, you'd hear some noise about it on TA especially (like with the Scooter rips).
