when you say one ear cup method, you are having the headphone on one hear and hearing the record on the speakers??

Yeah. I use to beatmatch using split-cue, that means beatmatching with the headphones on. If you beatmatch using split-cue, switch to the one ear cup method, it's much easier

I've just realised too, that it's not really my beatmatching that's the problem, it's the stylus to the centre of the record problem.

So could i beatmatch the records, and deliberately make the 2nd record faster than normal????

or you could get more involved and make tiny adjustments on the pitch slider on your cued record during your mix-ins. yeah, yeah, that's more work and you wish you had three hands, but who said dj'ing is easy?

i have this tendency to leave the sliders as is and assume its perfectly matched once its been "beatmatched" over 16, 32 measures to focus on that awesome transition, but i'm trying to get myself out of that assumption.

i force myself to make slight adjustments on the cued track during mix-in to compensate for the speeding up, and once the cued track's bassline is dominant on the monitors, i switch my phones to play the outgoing track and make the necessary pitch adjustments to the outgoing track during the mix-out. i tend to over-compensate especially during the mix-out, but i would like to belive i'm making progress. like they say, practice makes perfect...
