If you were hired to play all kinds of music, then i will accept to play what the girl asked you.

but if you were hired to play your music (house, techno, or trance, whatever you play), I will stick with that, and I don't care if a she looks good or bad, I won't just play crappy stuff, that would be so boring if they ask me to play regueton or hip-hop (Pop Music),

If I am djing I am doing an original performance, not just go out and play mtv music for peopel that just listen to it because it's "cool" and it's "what Everyone listen".

The floor might get empty if you are in a "MTV Music" Club, but at least someone will listen to you.

If you playt he charts the whole crowd won't care about you, you ar ejust another crappy dj, If you play your stuff, maybe 10 people will pay attention and enjoy your music.

The love doctor is about to speak...

Couple of things to keep in mind when DJing.
If a lady comes up to you and asks for something and she has a genuine interest in you... she will still have that interest even if you say no, but say it in a nice way.

If she gets offended because you say no in a nice way she is not worth the time of day anyway. She's just used to getting her own way because of her appearance.

Besides, some ladies find it more interesting if you don't cave in with puppy eyes... actually most ladies.

Not meaning to generalise about the oposite sex but in truth you have nothing to gain from the situation anyways unless you are honest. Pretty much like any relationship.

Cheers

im a Breakbeat DJ as well... but iv got remixes of hip-hop songs... and they are good remixes... to the point where one of my m8's bought the record just to support the artist... so thats what id do

I would have told her straight up that I had no hip hop to play whatsoever. Why beat around the bush?? Yea, I can imagine how hot she was, but like Nem said, are you really going to fret over some bimbo that wasn't interested in you because you didn't drop the latest festering pile of dog shit "fity" cent has churned out??

oh no... Nem, don't get me wrong. i compleeetely denied her request. you see, i'm generally deemed as a bit, err... let's say 'cold'. and if a guy would have come up to me, under those exact circumstances, i wouldve just looked at him and said 'ehhhh.... NO!'.

what kinda gets to me about cute girls is i can't react that way. still, i say no evertyime, because please, you couldn't pay me enough to load a reggaeton CD into a CDJ, (well, fine, you can, but i'd do it undercover with a different name, and even carry a fake ID whilst doing such, and we're talking thousands of dollars here ) but i sometimes wish i could snap at them as i do normally when they come up to me with retarded requests, not only in DJing, but in life. many a time, they don't deserve being treated nicely, yet i try not to offend when i say no. heh

He he, I hear ya.

For better or worse one develops a thick skin over time. And also the best way of dealing with this type of situation. Not saying that you did the wrong thing though.

On a different note.
Had to check out this a reggaeton stuff... what a load of arse. Just sounds like Hispanic Ragga to me... Nothing wrong with Hispanics or Ragga... just don't understand the fuss. Not like it's not been heard before.

I usually go out of my way to tell a pretty girl NO. If you think about it NO is something they almost never hear. If you tell them NO it throws a serious monkey wrench into their gears and fries their circuitry.

that stuff is quite arse, yes. it's about as bad as any general pop music, what really makes me hate it is how much exposure it's getting, and how sucessful it it. sure, it does happen a lot with crappy pop music, when it's new and it's a fad, but this shit should have died years ago already!

that pretty much sums it up...

if you want the crap they dish out on the radio and call it music then just tune your receiver to a radiostation, get that in the club...and you get "your favorite" tunes...

play what gets heads on the floor, if shes hot and she is representing the vibe/what people want then play some hip hop within your taste bracket. if not and people are enjoying themselves, tell her to get down to whats being played and shut up!
