You want to be very subtle with your scratches. If you want to scratch to Trance it is a very good idea to learn how to scratch using battle records and battle breaks instead of Trance because it is much more sound to learn at a slow BPM and to work up from there.

About the whole If you can't scratch you aren't a DJ argument the way I feel is that all good DJs should be able to mix and scratch fluently. Not just one or the other, but both.

It's obnoxious...how many trance DJs R-E-F-U-S-E to even consider adding that skill to their arsenal. I can't think of another "mixable" genre of electronic music that is so phobic of turntablism.

i just don't think it sounds right, imo. i could maybe see minimal.. very minimal scratching here and there.

OK, so while his style certainly isn't "trance," Donald Glaude does some amazing shit on the decks, and a lot of it has to do with Scratching records...

I had a chance to see Glaude a couple weeks ago (in Iowa City, about 45 minutes from here--something that doesn't happen often around here!!) AND it was an all ages event but unfortunately my boss added me to the schedule for that night at the last minute

Was so pissed!
