check out travelocity.com for hotels, thats how we always book when goin to t-dot and last couple of times we went we stayed at the westin harbour castle which is right down the street from the guv... fuckin NICE too, and i remember the site made it a helluva lot cheaper. i think we are staying somewhere else this time, which looks even nicer, i want to say royal fairmount or something??? that could be way off though...

Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Front St. < nice place.

For those planning on coming, if u get to town by that Saturday, we're having a big TA BBQ at my place- keep an eye on this thread for details:

I am moving to NYC that weekend, and starting classes that Tuesday...and yet I am still thinking about going? anyone think I can do it??? Could be tricky!! BUt I can not pass up Armin, among others!!

You guys: I do the NY-Canada thing ALL THE TIME...you do not need a passport, just a license.....they recommend passports/birth certificates to shorten the time at the border, but I swear since I have gotten my own passport sometime ago, it hasn't shortened a bit!!!

hope to see you all there, if not see you partying in the city...moving in 3.5 weeks and counting!

We've done the NY/Canada trips also, and previously all we needed was the driver's licence, but I think in light of recent events going on overseas - I think they have become alittle more strict with the borders.

Well being that they are two of the big headliners your prob out of luck my friend. That's one thing that sucks about LOL....all the big DJ sets overlap. You have to pick and choose.

Yeah, figures. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed on this one. Either way, it should be a great time.

To passport or not to passport

Look guys-
if u plan to come over the border be sure to have either a passport, or a drivers license AND a birth certificate. And if u plan to come up here by plane, you'd better be DAMN sure u have those. People have been refused on planes without them. You can never be too safe.

Posted by Vlad on Aug-04-2005 02:56:

My view on this is... pay $160 bucks and get the passport - youre safe for 10 years.

Posted by yankeeBaby on Aug-04-2005 04:51:

I just realized this today.....My classes start the tuesday after labor day...but since I signed up for thursday classes, technically I don't start school till that thursday.

Sweet ass sweet. Looks like I will be making a trip to toronto.

i was just in canada the weekend after the bombings in the uk, and they were happy with just my birth cert & driver's license, so don't panic if you don't have a passport. when i went in october for guv's 8th year party they didn't even ask for as much as a fucking employee name tag at EITHER border, they just let on us through as if we were crossing into connecticutt. it was a little akward to be quite honest... but you certainly can't rely on that, definately take as much id as you have.

Makes you wonder how they determine if they are are going to stop you, ask you questions, search your car....

Lets see...

Dark skin, dark hair, prominent facial hair, different type of clothing than usual.

Just a hunch.
