No Worries they did shag-all the last 2 seasons for what they where getting paid. Plus they were both injured half of each of those seasons.

No kidding.

Thankfully, they picked up a goalie in the draft with Finland's Tuuka Rask - seems like a solid choice...the guy has seem time on both the Finland's under-18 Championships and the World Juniors. He's also clocked a lot of ice time in the Finnish juniors from what I've been reading.

We may not win a cup this year, but I think the Leafs are finally on the path of realization that name-grabbing isn't the way to go when selecting players.

Allison can be a really good pick-up if we get him for cheap. The risk is he hasnt played a full season since 01-02. O'Neill can be a solid forward, and for the price we paid for him, it was a great deal.

Forsberg would be a great centre for the leafs, or any team for that matter, but it wont happen. He's going to want way too much money. Same thing with Neidermayer (who's asking price is about $7mil). Personally, i would prefer that they sign Allison (who was a top centre in the NHL and can be again) as the second line centre, and sign Neidermayer too (a great match with mccabe, like a younger, better leetch). but like i said it wont happen.

Theres so many spots on the leafs roster that needs to be filled, and there isnt much money left under the cap.

Paul Kariya would be a nice addition.

Leafs need to fill gaps in defence.

Adam Foote would have been nice (signed with the Bluejackets now). He lives in Toronto anyways.

It's funny that Toronto is such a hockey-rich city and yet we've seen nothing but a mass exodus of players.

Joe and Gary were tough and have heart. And heart goes a long way in the playoffs, whereas a close check can eliminate any 'superstar' advantage.

Ya - that heart took us all the way to the Stanley Cup... oh wait, it didn't, did it... (picture Stewie from family guy...)

You know, a lot of people will say that, but who here truly believes that CAROLINA (!) was a better team than us going into the finals a couple years back? Fact of the matter is, the eastern conference was full of teams that'll beat you up until you've got nothing left in the tank come playoff time, and the leafs were just too old and too bruised to get by the hack of a team that the hurricanes were.

It's been a similar situation for several years now, having to go thru jersey and philly, and ottawa [although they're less of a 'tough team' and more of a dirty stickworking european style team] is just too much for an older team to take.

On top of that, the leafs are the most hated franchise in the NHL, like the yankees in MLB, and as a result, every night out for the leafs is like a grudge match. I swear, the leafs are used to playing those games, and it makes them tougher mentally come playoff time, but all them extra bodies flying around do take their toll.

Don't get me wrong, I've been saying for a long time the leafs needed to get younger in light of this new CBA which was coming, but not at the expense of the heart of your team. You can have all the talent in the world for your team, but on the small ice surface, you're still gonna need players to pay the price in the corners, take abuse in front, and have the courage to drop to block a point shot.

There's always the tried and true 'steal the captains of the teams who beat you in the playoffs' approach as well...

I'M KIDDING.

Leafs are gonna ..most likely have a shitty year...but will also give them room to sign some REALLY BIG NAME players when they become free agents next year.

The top of my wishlist would be Rafalski. The only thing i dislike about that is his size, especially against teams like philly.

Bring Bure back...he said once he'd love to play for the Leafs...come on Russian Rocket...fix that damn knee and lets go!
