I'd make tiesto god of all trance and make him in charge of producing every single trance song.

Believe me, im a fan, but if we have one ruler of trance, it will fail... but tiesto is a god...

I think that djs should start useing more genres, like they are doing now... more remixs of "popular" pop singles, aka coldplay, etc.

And make it so everyone that doesnt listen think that all of the music is the same, thats the problem, everyone who listens to trance or w/e for the first time, they go "Oh, its techno, its the same crap / beat over and over again..."

I think the change is that Trance and other electronica genres need to show the "non trance" listeners that it is a music genre like none-other...

i cringe horribly at these pop mixes you talk of.

That's exactly what would kill it. It has happened to hardcore here before.

I'd say I agree with Derek, the only vaguely alternate state of mind most trance has been bringing me in lately is boredom.

Posted by Djshortcircuit on Aug-03-2005 20:39:

I just stated the pop stuff do to the fact to get some more listeners, not to overflow into main stream...

I mean some remixes doesnt hurt...

There are enough of them already. More than enough.

You really wanna hear your so called pop hits remixed?

Oh ya I look forward to dancing my ass off on the dance floor to Paul Van Dykes new remix of Gwen Stefanis Bananas that transitions into that fn Beverly Hills song.

No Thank You Mr. DJ

(and Im not ripping on you mmmk just staying my opinion )

I recall your beloved Gabriel & Dresden doing the exact same thing.

Well said. I totally agree with you.

This 'underground' term is the reason nothing decent is coming out. Nothing gets supported widely enough to make it worthwhile producing.

Mainstream does NOT equate to idiocy. 1999/2000 was relatively mainstream, and those were golden years.

What would I do ? well

I'd prevent the death of marino stephano, leaving him able to continue his legacy of good works, I'd stop Oakenfold going shit. I'd stop all the remakes of classics and inject originality and creativity. I'd see all producers using only hardware, as it was fine when this was the case. There would be a good amount of money available to the people who were undoubtedly the best, ie. people such as oliver lieb, the ferry of 1998-2002, Origin, Vincent De Moor etc. I'd make tech-trance how it was, techy with only slight trance moments, not the 'tiesto' bandwagon that isn't anything like it used to be.

Progressive would go back to being melodic & progressing, and not just boring loops of fluff, people like quivver, cass & slide, tilt etc.

Andy Moor & Adam White would not ever get to be near a production studio, nor would many of the armada/electronic elements producers. Markus Schulz would go back to 'edge factor' days and judge jules would never have made anything by 'hi-gate'

wishful thinking huh ?

id ban all the idiots on TA....

yes i would ban myself last

Most of G&D work is quality, they hardly ever disapoint me.

Like old school hiphop. Yeah, that would make trance better.

Same here...

Well then you can just keep listening to what ever style u listen to... didnt mean to piss people of by saying remixes were cool...

Posted by Cobalt on Aug-03-2005 23:17:

I'd put a five-year moratorium on melodies longer than eight beats.

I'd have PvD turn tech-trance, both production and mixing.

I'd smack Dave Seaman upside the head for giving trance the cold shoulder, and force him to make amends.

I'd make the pentatonic scale the hot new thing. Chinese vocals would rock too.

I'd have Holland leave the genre the fuck alone.

So many others to mention...

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Aug-03-2005 23:26:

I'd set fire to anyone who even thought "let's make a vocal trance record".

I'd force anyone who wanted to make trance to buy a real studio of hardware (not a laptop) to make sure they really had something worthwhile to contribute.

Anyone who said "trance is sooo unpopular in my country" would have their right to listen to it taken away from them.

Posted by Kapedano on Aug-03-2005 23:27:

If the fate of trance was in my hands...

- I would stop Tiesto from doing TIC series.
- I would go back in time 3-4 years ago and witness all the great classics that were played during clubs in the period of time.
- I would make PvD and Tiesto friends and make them produce a few tracks together.
- I wouldnt let Tiesto receive the nr.1 DJ in the world three times in a row.
- I would make Ferry produce more tracks under the Gouryella alias.

Thats all i can think of now.
