i have got to say like i was there for fri and sat and was very dissapointed the tents were dire - very small and the lighting was school disco style

the main stage looked goosd at night but everything was only open till midnight so only a few hours of darkness

it rained so was dead muddy and because id heard these stories of dance valley being the best thing in the world i was very dissapointed to find that wasnt the case and that us brits have well and truly come through with the goods with global gathering

the main tent was littrally breathtaking at global

i wont be going back to dance valley in a hurry

I can feel you on that one...in the beginning of Sasha's set it was packed to maximum. Not because 4000 people wanted to see Sasha but since it just started raining (again), and everybody fled to the tents. So you're being right about most of them just standing still, but I think that was the case in many other tents when the rain started to fall, which it did a lot of times.

I don't think the tents were small at all. The only times they were fully packed was when it rained. Regarding the "old school style" lightning I think they were the bomb. I loved the styling of the Renaissance tent, as well as at Loveland with the Fire truck and stuff. Not everything is about 50 giant lasers and what not, they were saved for the main stage.

Too bad we didn't get lucky with the weather, it seems like it ruined the day for a lot of the visitors. Even though the stages were closed down during friday it didn't bother me, not that it rained a lot either. On the contrary. There were plenty of other acts too see/hear in the tents, and with the rain and stages being closed down, it just narrowed down my choises of which DJ's I wanted to see and made it easier to choose.

your right its not about 50 lasers and what not im talking about the genral moving head lights they had just single filter cans and not many of them either. the mainstage did have 12 lasers and looks pretty good but considering this is meant to be the festival of all festivals it wasnt up to scratch

i dont know what days you were there but it poured down on friday for a good few hours and the ground was ruined

i was happy with the dj's i have no complaints even though some dldnt play the best i have ever seen them (marcel woods)

in all i was trying to say that i enjoyed the event but it didnt live up to the hype and i definatley wont be going next year

HA!

Having gone to Global's 2003 and 2004, DV pissed on both of them from a dizzy height, I'm already waiting for the dates next year to book off from work

Posted by kr00t0n on Aug-09-2005 22:50:

On that note, does anyone happen to know the last track played by Scott Mac?

I took a clip of it, but the bass distorts so much it's pretty much unrecognisable

Anyone has done the Deep Dish tracklist already?

Coz 2 days camping with a bunch of chavs and an Urban arena sounds like my kinda weekend?

I watched a gang of people attack randoms in the car park at the end of 2004 GKGG, throwing full bottles of beer at people, throwing women to the floor and such crap that only the scum of the country do.

My standards are a bit higher than that.

Also, Dutch women > British women

I didn't mean urban as in a city centre, but as in the type of music, hip hop and EDM don't mix.

Last years DnB arena was full of dodgy rudeboys and chavettes, looking to start fights and shit.

As superficial as it may seem, I would not got to an event that had the most amazing music and decor and djs if it was full of minging women, simply because that would affect the atmosphere.

That said, no great loss on my part if you don't go next year.

your right it is no great loss if i dont go but it will be a nice loss to your wallet for a second rate festival im just glad people like you dont go to GG perhaps thats why the atmosphere was so good

The arena was accelerated culture you fool.

So 1 tent at GG played trance, wow!

A whole bunch did at DV, and they was a larger amount of better dj's on the whole.

I went to GG 2003, and enjoyed myself, but it was my first big festival and my first time seeing some bigger name djs.

Since then I realised the biggest names are 9/10 well over-hyped, and that GKGG was now about making money, not a good party.

If you disagree, then WHY would they change it to a 2 nighter with hip hop and rock acts?

Plus the added hype of being broadcasted by Radio 1 than Galaxy. It want be long before Godskitchen follows Gatecrasher into the cash generating cheese fest that GC it is now.
