The Shiite communities in Iraq have always had close ties with the Shiite theocracy in Iran, so I wouldn't be suprised if Iranians - either officially (that is, by the order of the government) or unofficially (that is, through Iranian groups unassociated with the Iranian government) - were trying to smuggle weapons to their bretheren in that part of Iraq. The notion that the Iranians would be giving weaponary to the Sunni-based insurgency, however, is pretty ridiculous. Firstly, why would they give weapons to Sunni militants, most of whom supported the suppression of the Shiites last decade? Secondly, why would the Iranians be supporting an insurgency that undermines the likelihood of the Shiite majority in Iraq gaining power in the new Iraqi government?

If anyone tries to insinuate that the Iranians have had anything to do with the insurgency over the past two years based on this event, then they need to check their history of the region and then check their heads shortly after.

First time I've ever been quoted in a sig. Awesome.

To me what you say is pretty obvious even before the news came out.
Question now is whos gonna win the civil war in iraq, after the U.S. pulls out? The Shiites, Backed by Iran. Or the Sunnis, Backed by Syria. For the U.S. government both choices are out of the question seeing as how either Syrian or Irani control of the region would jeopardize their interests in the region. The U.S. possible (and most probable) way out : declare an independant Kurdistan in the Kurd autonomous region convince U.S. ally Turkey to back an independant Kurdish state in Northern Iraq (this would be the hard part).

Hey if you wanna die so American Oil Barons can fill up their pockets for a few more years. That s your problem. The benefits for your sacrifice will be shorlived.

this could prove easier then one might think. Turkey wants to join the European Community. If the US is nice to, us we'd persuade Turkey to go allong in exchange for memberschip. But then again: if Kurdistan becomes a fact, sunni's and sji-ites want their own country as well. as do texans and the people in south carolina. Hell Even I want my own country.... mind u that Sunni's and sji-ites were killing eachother way (WAY, WAY) before USA ever was founded.... (ancienity rules...... butt out!!!!!)

secondly: if the US didn't interfere overthere, a barrel of crude oil would be around 45 dollars and the dollar would be a bit stronger compared to euro / pound / yen.... after inflation-correction however, the price of oil is not higher than it was 20odd years ago.

third: I know that the US doesn't recognise the Kyoto treaty, but to invade a country that does??? this goes beyond me....
Iran is trying very hard to live up to these standards of reducing CO emission, by turning to nuclear power.... leave them be... if these people want a war, they'll use more conventional weapons, like aeroplanes. learn from the past, my US-friends..

but what really frightens me is: who the f*ck do you think you are: declaring a kurdish state i/t region!!!! who died and made you God???
solve your own problems..

don't get me wrong. Amerika did some great things in the past. but don't overdo it. you can't force peace upon people who don't want it!!!! this may (and will(and has already)) backfire(d)....

a little tip: if y'all would spend 1 (one!!) percent of your (socalled) "defence" budget (i'd use other words) on research for other energy sources, you wouldn't need oil i/t first place. (and with the other 99 percent u should solve yr own (domestic) problems or buy africa in a few years...(or pay your dues to the UN)

why don't we declare an Indian (native american, that is) state in their autonomic region?????????????????
y'all can live in refugeecamps near the mexican border.

(the first step to world peace if you ask me....)
