-- BBC review about Armin's Shivers
Pages (4): « 1 [2] 3 4 »
actually I like the album. my favourite tune is "bounce back" produced with Remy. Zocalo & Empty State are pretty good too.. Cant stand "control freak" though
and the breakbeats in "gipsy" dont sound too good to me.. But I guess I will be getting one of the vinyl samplers anyway

rofl, i take notice of serious reviews by respected individuals. The BBC lost all my respect with its constant whoring of every House genre under the sun, and its downright stubborness and blindsightedness to move their old and tiring DJ lineup from London to Ibiza and expect everyone to enjoy it.
Just think i pay nearly 10 a month for some pleb at the BBC to tell me he thinks Shivers is a letdown.

Originally posted by ctprincess i'd say he's only been in the scene (or at least popular) since around 1999 or so - only about 6 years or so - in comparison to other dj's armin is a baby when it comes to being in the scene
Of course his past efforts have no baring on what this cd was like, I was merely pointing out the reviewer seems ignorant to the fact that Armin's been producing for years already.
I certainly won't be buying this myself
Although Shivers is nothing groundbreaking, I still like it. I wouldn't get samplers though.

Originally posted by [PCO]sigmanova baby in the scene? i think not. his early releases and productions were just really good. Boundaries of Imagination. the uplifting, dreamy remixes of 2000, 2001. it's just that the creativity that goes into his current productions are not even close to that of what people expect of him.

Originally posted by ctprincess yeah - he's still a baby - 2000? - that's only 5 frickin' years! there are dj's/producers who have been in the scene since the early 90s - 15 years in comparsion to 5 years in my book means armin is still a baby

Originally posted by gouuryella Well he produced Blue Fear in 1997, thats like 8 years ago. I wouldnt call him a baby, maybe compared to Sasha, but why are we comparing Armin and Sasha? Two different styles. The trance that Armin plays started to evolve around 1997 and up. Shivers is dissapointing but Armin has put out some great remixes in the past and good productions aswell. Dont forget all the different projects such like Major Leage with Tiesto, ect ect.
Sasha WAS a good dj, now he plays boring music ..... what did i say PLAY.... i should have said "Ableton Live Plays" (autobeatmatch) ha ha
Armin plays amazing tunes and makes really good music, t's ok, some music might not be that good but other are really good
