my system is a sony amp and 2 sony speakers with 15" woofers.
nothing crazy. no computer speakers. they are about 3 feet tall.
now what would i recommend i have a laptop and never had a desktop so my recommendation is to get a soundcard and hook it up to a good home sound stystem which is what i do.

Exactly. Power = loudness, but alot of power also provides you the ability to add quailitative components for a wonderful listening experience.

On the contrary. I just made a simple statement about my sound system. Suddenly, everyone seems to be harrassing me with cheap shots from left field. Hell, my system is a compilation of previous systems. I've burned out two 400W amps in the past, and now I've got a couple more. Big deal. May burn one of them as well when I get tanked up some weekend. They're like $200-300 per. No big deal.

alot of people think loud= quality(aka more bottom end)

imo that takes away the whole listening experience.I like to hear details not just body shaking because I have 4 subs in a room.

Home made cabling ( interconnect and speaker as well )
Acoustic Research speakers.

And that's rated at 60 watts but I'm sure my sound is much clearer then what you get out of your bass bins

I should soon have an all portable rig for the portable dvd player with an external dac amp for added control on my grado headphones ( considering an upgrade to some Sennheisers or Beyer Dynamic )

Do you listen to mp3's? because no matter what you do to them you can never hear the real quality of the song.since it is all compressed.

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure if my memory served me right ( the logitech part that is ).

Speaking of power .... some of the worlds best systems ever ( Paradise garage new york RIP and Stereo Montr�al ) are all analog and run close to 5000 watts for huge clubs but they pull it off with the best quality ever

I have been moving so much in recent years that considering any kind of work like that would be a waste of money due to the short lived usage it would have.

Right before I moved to Europe from the US back in january ( I wasn't expecting to move that early ... ) I was working on getting a higher end tv ( well "high" end at around 800 bucks ) and getting everything setup well .... thankfully I didn't drop the cash cause it would have been a waste !

I still need to get some bad ass speakers .... my worst component in the system is the speakers ( the cheapest too )

even if they are compressed if u have a 320kbs instead of a 128 or 192 u can hear the difference. hence y mp3 sites such as beatport give them out like that.

No offense but most EDM doesn't deserve a real sound system ( poorly produced and such ) so if that's what you listen to exclusively I say maybe splurge on a sub but don't over do it.

Otherwise yeah as hardcore trancer suggested get some book shelf speakers like Acoustic research for example and a decent amp.

If you're broke and you want a decent radio get a Tivoli one speaker included it's around 130+ bucks

I have 5 speakers, i placed 2 of them next to my monitor, other 2 each side of my room, and the 5th one on the centre of the wall right above monitor. I do get good sound to be fair and im happy

Get ready for the next generation of club sound systms.They are working on 5.1 systems for clubs,although I dont see the point of this since almost all dj's are used to only using left and right channels.Unless you are using ableton because with ableton you can have as many as channels you want and you can send them to any desired channels on the 5.1 systems.Although I havent heard any clubs using this as of yet the idea sure is amazing.but I could see this having lots of problems.
for example in a club you are always moving around,where as in a theater you sitting down so there for you can experience the real 5.1. So I wonder how they can do that in a club.

ya a good monitor is a must and you can spend more then $5000 on them.

I say save the money and treat your room and then see which monitors suits you the best.

Power is power and suddenly Logitech power, no matter what the wattage is suddenly by your word of mouth no good? You have never told us what you run on your computer either, Nou. Now why is that? You've been more than critical of my system. We can only assume you have something small, yet balanced as you say, for the space you are listening in which is probably small as well in your parent's home.
