I'm an ortofon sort of guy. Have heard of too many people having issues with the white labels so probably wouldn't recomend them to anyone.

I use the Ortofon Elektros... very happy with them.

HAHA OMG The mystery has been solved.

Today I tried playing a record and the needle just slid across the record. I was just like WHAT THE FUCK?! So I took it off and looked really closely to at the tip of the needle. It was COVERED in gunk. I took an older needle and scraped it all off and... works like new again! It's weird because I remember looking at the tip many times to see if it was the problem and it always looked nice and clean to me. I wonder what happened.
