Bleep 62: Trevor Wilkes
Bleep Radio #62
Aired: June 7th, 2007
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes
None of the guest mixes that have been lined up are in yet so I filled the gap with a random bunch of records. It seems I was in the mood for some older stuff this week. Plenty of Acid to go around!
Track-list
00 - 3d!t "Bleep Radio Intro"
A long, long time ago in a totally different era I asked Ed to make me up an intro for Bleep. This was the teaser that's been done so far. I may as well use it!
01 - The Jungle Brothers "I'll House You %28Houseapella%29" Warlock Records 22 [I'll House You EP 1988]
This is one of my favorite house tracks, it's a combination of the vocals and the Todd Terry beats that make it excellent. Todd can make my rump jump!
Discog's link w/ more information
02 - Soul Grabber & The Stickmen "Hey Bryce" NRK 22 [Untitled EP 1999]
I don't actually know where this record came from. It doesn't ring any bells or even memory fragments. I needed something kinda tribal / filtered disco to jump from the Jungle Brothers to Surfin' Bernard though. It'll probably never be played again. I think we all discover little crustys in the shelves or bins from time to time eh?
Discog's link w/ more information
03 - Surfing Bernard "Partyboy" Shed Records 01 [Untitled EP 2003]
!!! I love Surfin Bernard. They take the rawkus go get em attitude of the sort of Techno I like and meld it with lyrics that remind me of old Funk or even older Rock. I need more of them for sure.
Discog's link w/ more information
04 - Dave Angel "Funk Music" Island Records [Funk Music EP 1997]
Dave has these periods, most of them in the mid to late 90's I think where he just blew the socks off of everyone track-wise. It was distinctive and full of thump funk. This isa great/fun track and it's probably one of the worse ones from that era. So much more was even better. I love one in particular...if only I can remember what the hell it's called!
Discog's link w/ more information
05 - Inner City "Good Life" White
Classic. I'll go ages not touching it as I've only got some crappy white label of it - so it kinda hides for long periods. But every so often I'll put it on to see what it is and the starting hooks me all over again. It starts off so Art of Noise I can't resist..
06 - Dj Fex "Acid Forever (Dj Tommy Four Seven Remix)" Brique Rouge 63 [Acid Forever EP 2007]
The original Fex mix doesn't really do much for me, but the Tommy... mix is good stuff. It's got a newer, cleaner, acid sound, but still has all the elements that old stuff was sportin. Don't ask me to break it down anymore. I refuse to put too much thought into it.
Discog's link w/ more information
07 - Brother From Another Planet "Acid Wash Conflict" 7th City 22 [Seventh City Classics Volume 1 EP 2007]
I always wondered why this record went for so much on Ebay, I mean it's a decent old acid track, but the money some people spent on it was just plain silly. I only paid $13 CAD. Why? Because I just waited until it was repressed of course. Well....it was the song on the flip I wanted more so. In the next Bleep you'll hear that!
Discog's link w/ more information
08 - Jacob London "Rise Squirrels Rise" Utensil Recordings 19 [Dropping Squirrels EP 2007]
Retarded, stop-start, Disco! I'm not too keen on many Jacob London releases, but this new one had 2-3 tracks on it that put some shimmy in my step.
Discog's link w/ more information
09 - Armando "Downfall" Cbag [Untitled EP 2007]
Classic! Again, this is an old acid track I'd wanted for years and just never stumbled across for a decent price. I was thoroughly stoked when it was repressed. If this song doesn't make you want to jack, your jack muscle must be sprained. For those of you who like the acid line, but prefer harder Techno....this acid line was featured in one of the recentish Killa Production EP's. If you can't find it and want it just ask and I'll point you in the right direction.
Discog's link w/ more information
10 - ### "01" Feinwerk 13 [Untitled EP 2007]
I still don't know who the hell this is. It's the one track on this EP I like though.
Discog's link w/ more information
11 - Paul Birken "Numbskull" L'Hallucidite 07 [Hors Serires 07 EP 2007]
This is another example of a track that I wanted for years, but went for far too much on Ebay. Originally on the Surfin' Superior LP on Woody McBride's Communique label (Mid-West Acid!). This track is now resting on it's laurel's on this French label. I made the mistake of burning this mix for my car. Now I get constant looks of wonderment when the passing drivers see me fist pumping to this track.
Discog's link w/ more information
12 - Public Energy "Three 'O Three" Probe 05 [Three 'O Three EP 1992]
I seem to have been on a bit of a rave track, acid kick. Public Energy is also known as Speedy J. I'm not a fan of the stuff he does now a days, but there was a time when he owned me. This is a Canadian label too. Take that world! Unfortunately Probe ended it's run a long time ago. Fortunately it ended with one of the best LP's ever released...
Discog's link w/ more information
13 - Dj Lenk "Untitled" Drumcode 26 [142 EP 2003]
I think Lenk is Jesper Dahlback. I'm not sure and when ever I do check it out I always forget in fairly short order. This is probably the only Drumcode I've bought out of the last 25 or so...(what are they even up to now???). It's a cranky, frenetic acid stomper that tugs at my heart strongs.
Discog's link w/ more information
14 - Circuit Breaker "Creator" Probe 30 [The End LP 1996]
Yes, the best acid record ever released. Hands down. Two slabs of wax with perfection etched into each side. Circuit Breaker??? it's Richie Hawtin when he had balls. A long, long time ago, before the neutering.
Discog's link w/ more information
15 - X-ES "Roller-Coaster" Freaky Records 1011 [Volume 1 EP 1991]
This is one of the many Eric Van Der Broek alias'. He has so many it's hard to remember, but this one was only used for two Ep's. Both old, both only had 1 good track that really didn't date poorly.
Discog's link w/ more information
16 - Unknown "Unknown" White
I probably knew what this record was at one point in my life, but not any more. I know that there are at least two loops from it that make it into a good portion of Neil Landstrumm's live-set. So if anyone recognizes this track...let me in on it so I can label the damn thing.
17 - Juiceboxx & Dre Skull "Sweat %28Dre Skull's Dusted Bass Mix%29" Vicious Pop Records [Sweat Ep 2006]
For some reason I almost fell guilty for liking this song. Not sure why, maybe it's because I know my Girlfriend likes it as well. I'm still debating whether or not that's good...

Bleep 63: Trevor Wilkes
Bleep Radio #63: (The Daniel Bell Vs. Todd Sines Tribute Mix)
Aired: June 14th, 2007
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes
I felt it would be a little silly to do my comments on each track in this particular mix. It being only two artists throughout and all.
I will however go on about those two artists and what it is about them that led to me doing this tribute mix.
Todd Sines:
The first Todd Sines track I heard was on a CD I found in a used bin at a record store. It was a CD called "Ultra Sonic Mix" by a Toronto Dj by the name of Bliss. That first track was "Multiplexor" the same track I opened the mix off with. It wasn't too long after buying that CD that I then started buying records. What were the first records I bought? I still remember to this day.
.XTrak "Packet Burst" 7th City (with Multiplexor)
DBX "Losing Control" Accelerate
Jeff Mills "Bells" Purpose Maker
For a first order it was pretty good I'd say.
Via that first couple records and the Ultra Sonic mix (and others like Hawtin's Mixmag CD) I was hooked on the minimal bleep. I soon found Dj Hyperactive, Ferox and a bunch of other Eps all over the map. I liked my Bleep. Eventually, over the years I'd book Todd to come up to Hamilton or Toronto 3-4 times. He's a great guy who makes great tunes. Solid!
Daniel Bell:
There's no way I could remember for certain when I first really caught onto Dan's stuff. I know Losing Control was one of the first tracks of his I knew. I know this because I can still clearly remember freaking out everytime someone played the damn thing. I still do. I remember thinking in the past that all I'd ever need is all Dan's records and I'd be fine. If only I'd stopped there I may have saved a few bucks. To this day I've never seen Dan play. He's been to Toronto once or twice that I know of, but the timing never worked out and I could never make it. I think now, at this point, it would be best if I never do see him play. I'd probably be disappointed.

Bleep 64: Trevor Wilkes
Bleep Radio #64
Aired: June 21st, 2007
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes
You know how it goes. Another week, another bleep. Show #64 was mixed by myself once again and it includes some stuff while excluding some other stuff. Makes sense. Tracklist:
00 - 3d!t "Bleep Intro"
I still giggle at this damn thing.
More info...
01 - The Don "The Horn Song" Strictly Rhythm [The Horn Song EP 1998]
Choon! A relatively recent acquaintance of mine loves this song. I found out last week. So this first tune is for Danielle of Blubuni. Virtually all of Pierre's stuff is good music, but this is definitely one of his personal best.
More info...
02 - Blake Baxter "Energizer" Tresor 97 [Tresor 3 LP 2000]
Another old Detroit gem. I've been on a bit of a motor city rampage lately. Digging up a lot of old stuff and buying a few new ones. Detroit is sorta where I started off so I guess it's only likely I detour through my old haunt from time to time.
More info...
03 - Mark Seven "Gonz Gets F.U." Rotation 98011 [Dancefloor Techniques Volume 1 EP 1998]
I don't quite recall how I discovered Mark Seven, but I'm glad I did. Out of his half dozen or so EPs there is only 1 I only have 1 copy of. The man knows Techno and Funk like I know my navel and junk. This EP in particular is known to anyone who has heard Dave Angel's "39 Flavours of Tech Funk" mix CD. I think 3 of the 4 tracks are featured on it.
More info...
04 - TSR "The 7th Otto Odie 7th Otto" HorSpielMusik 44 [Transexual Swiss Rebels EP 2004]
TSR are definitely one of my favorite acts right now. Those three nerds do no wrong. Mostly because their wrong is so right. I'm lucky enough to get all kinds of random tracks and remixes from them and let me tell you, the stuff they actually release is great, but they're sitting on gold as well. Brats! The Ep Sleeve says that this record was only Robi and Fredi...I guess Tomi sat this one out. Still smells like Teen Spirit to me though.
More info...
05 - Subhead "Unknown" Subhead 02 [Forest Friends EP 1996]
One of the best Subhead records to date. I dare you to challenge me on that one. This isn't even the track the EP is known for. I thought I'd give that one a rest. I find the first couple Subhead records %28on their label%29 are crazy good and then it kinda tapers off in the middle of the catalog only to pick up again around 13 or 14...I guess it's good that "tapers off" for Subhead means it's still better than 90% of the Techno out there. They've got that going for them...
More info...
06 - Lief Ryan "Royale Battle" Iron Oxide 04 [Las Vegas Of The North EP 2005]
I completely forgot about this record. I've had it for 2 years apparently and this month is the first time I've put it in my bag to play out. The only reason I rediscovered it is because of my girlfriend. She put on a CD with this track mixed in it. I probably made the CD the week I got the record...It took me a while to figure out what it was again, but I'm glad I did. Lief rocked it hard for Iron Oxide!
More info...
07 - Outsider "Sex is Extra %28No Assembly Firm's .Dotbleep Re-Edit%29" Junior Boy's Own 12 [Sex is Extra EP 2006]
This is one of those tasty Chicago House records that's come out recently that I can't seem to put down. It grabs people's attention and works well with most anything else I've ever thrown into it. According to Sylvia, my girlfriend it has the three things that go into a perfect track: Bass, Tweak and Vox. I can't refute that.
More info...
08 - Wyndell Long "Chapped Lips" Peacefrog 50 [She Heard Me Cry EP 1996]
Wyndell Long is awesome. Techno, House, Booty...whatever he does. Solid production. Solid understanding of a track. Knows how to jack. This is an older one I first heard played by Terry Mullan. There's another old Wyndell on Peacefrog as well, but it's a more Deep house oriented number. I still recommend it though.
More info...
09 - Frankie Bones "Unknown" Last Label 01 [%28Pro%29File. %28Pro%29Duce EP 2004]
I got this from Frankie back before it came out. I had just made a record order through him and he ended up throwing in 3-4 extras into the box. This was one of them. It's a great rework of DHS' "House of God".
More info...
10 - Neil Landstrumm "Help Me" Music Man 98 [Asphyxia EP 2002]
Neil on point. The Bassline does my head in. The flipside with The Horrorist is catchy as hell as well in a sort of haunting chant kinda way.
More info...
11 - Infiniti "Skyway" Tresor 105 [Skynet: The Infiniti Colection LP 1998]
I started the mix off with a track I know Danielle of Blubuni likes and now I toss a track in that I know Eric of Blubuni likes. It's a great track. proof they know their music.
More info...
12 - Kenny Larkin "Catatonic %28Carl Craig Mix%29" R&S Records 94058 [Catatonic Mixes EP 1994]
I don't think this song can be truly apreciated in a mp3 mix. It needs to be felt as well as heard. The low end in this one does something to you on a good system. The morphing bass and clanks don't stop moving and they funnel your energy so very well...Gold star!
More info...
13 - Luke Hess "Omniscient %28Falko Brocksieper Remix%29" Beretta Grey 03 [Absolute Truth EP 2007]
I don't know who this is. I was given this record at a gig. It's forgettable almost entirely. The Falko mix however sparks it up. It's his tracky nature shining through I think. That and his more 'full' sounding production. Takes it about 3 notches past the original.
More info...
14 - Massi DL "Minimal Mushrooms" Frankie Records 18 [1UP EP 2007]
I like the bloops in this one.
More info...
15 - Jeremy P. Caulfield "Hollow Sky" Trapez 21 [The Cities EP 2002]
Jeremy is a local boy, although he's moved to Germany. This is one of his earlier releases and to be honest is only 1 of 2 that I've purchased. I think this one is his best. It hits square in the dance floor.
More info...
16 - Massi DL "Minimal Mushrooms" Frankie Records 18 [1UP EP 2007]
I like the bloops in this one.
More info...
17 - Jeremy P. Caulfield "Ripped Backsides" Trapez 21 [The Cities EP 2002]
Jeremy is a local boy, although he's moved to Germany. This is one of his earlier releases and to be honest is only 1 of 2 that I've purchased. I think this one is his best. It hits square in the dance floor.
More info...
18 - S-max "Limited %28S-max Kool Aid Edit%29" Overdrive 158 [Limited Remixes EP 2005]
S-max is one of the few "minimal" or "tech-house" producers wo I buy without question. This release is a shining example why. It's got the goods in spades. The vocal which comes out almost as an exhalation plus the thin little acid line is enough to satisfy even the hardest of the core.
More info...
19 - Unknown
I don't know what's up with this EP, even took me a while to find the discogs link since there is so little info on it. It's a great Acid record, but beyond that it's a mystery. It's one of my little scores that have been made. You search through enough of what stores call "Acid house" and eventually you actually find one or two.

Bleep 65
Aired: June 28th, 2007
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes / [email protected][/email]
I needed to pack a new bag of bits that were bordering between jackin' and groovin'. Stuff that wasn't too crazy as it's intended for people who maybe haven't heard a lot of this stuff before. At the same time it needed to be representative. I think I straddled the line well for this show.
Track-list:
00 - Edit "Intro"
Bleep Radio's teaser intro until the real deal is complete. Bang up job chap.
Edit's Homepage
01 - Jamie Lidell "Daddy No Lie" Warp Records LP75 [Muddlin Gear LP 2000]
If only everything could be a Bebop, the world would be a better place.
Discog's link w/ more info...
02 - Quick & Smart "Eyko" Nerven 24 [Whacksel EP 2005]
This is one of my favorite records to abuse people with. the time signature is virtually stuck at 4/4 the world over in Techno dance clubs it would seem. This confuses people quite quickly. It just so helps that it's a fantastic track to boot. On Coin Operated 02 there's a more easily played remix that also features tons of old school rave samples and a punishing rhythm.
Discog's link w/ more info...
03 - Cannibal Cooking Club "Tea-r-Time (Reche & Recall's Teatime Is Over Remix)" Cannibal Cooking Club 07 [Recooked Volume 2 EP 2007]
When I first learned of this I so desperately hoped for the original or at the very least a repress of Tomas Nordstrom's remix from the Chan'n'Mikes EP. The original is fantastic. Such a simple riff does and yet it does my head in every time. I'll own it someday!
Discog's link w/ more info...
04 - Armando "100% Of Dissin' You" News [Serious Beats EP]
A classic Djax jam, brought back to life several times over via various repressings and licenses. Despite being re-released every couple years on a different label, it's still hard to locate. I kept my eye out for the original for years and years and finally said screw it. Bought a Serious Beats EP. Haven't looked back.
05 - NDK " Any Questions" Kugelbox 04 [Crash Course Volume 3 EP 2006]
I absolutely love this track. Unfortunately it's a little too intense for most places around here to play out in. I've tried working up to it about 3 times now and each time I've gotten looks. Not the good kind. Too much tweak for the local folk still. That just means I've still got work to do though.
Discog's link w/ more info...
06 - Tommy-T & Bobbylicious "Old Friends We Remember" Shed 04 [Cursor EP 2004]
Tomas Nordstrom and Wilhelm Rosen bust out some stomp box distortion and gliding basslines for this badbwoy. Two of the tracks on this EP are dirty enough to cause cowlicks to spontaneously appear. The other two tracks....well, you'll see the cowlicks coming.
Discog's link w/ more info...
07 - Lief Ryan "Give Over" Iron Oxide 04 [Las Vegas Of The North EP 2005]
As I mentioned last week when I played the other side of this record. Great record! Lief does the low end proper. But it's not just there for the sake of being there, it's used and used well.
Discog's link w/ more info...
08 - Paul Birken "Spitoon Platoon" Audio Textures 08 [Storm Serge EP 20064]
Pual Birken has quickly ensnared me in his grasp. it seemed for years there was little to nothing coming from his camp. Suddenly with little to no warning...a whole whackload of Eps like this. A whackload of re-releases of his older stuff including some gems that go for big bucks and some unreleased stuff that will go for big bucks down the road. 100% Techno. In all it's various guises
Discog's link w/ more info...
09 - Lusinda & Mark Hawkins "Can You Count" Victim 05 [Homage EP 2006]
The only thing missing from this track is more of the tweaked out synth lines that I love Mark's stuff for. The vox makes up for it, but I still miss the tweak. Mark and Lucie together seem to work well. This isn't the first track they've done together and I hope it wont be their last.
Discog's link w/ more info...
10 - Jamie Lidell "C-Note" Mosquito 08 [Freakin The Frame EP 1997]
Jamie's first record?? I didn't know that, but Discogs says it's true. It's hard to believe this is where it all started. I don't think he's ever done the same thing twice has he?
Discog's link w/ more info...
11 - Luke's Anger "Blockumentary" Victim 05 [Homage EP 2006]
I can't get enough of Luke's stuff. When I play out in these here parts where the sort of Techno I love isn't really well known, I know all I need to do to grab people's feet is play some Luke's Anger. All of it strides the line between known and unknown. Using rhythms and patterns that don't confuse the newbs, but in sly and subtlety deceiving ways. They think they know what it is and before they know it, they be jammin! Secret weapon material. Although i don't keep secrets.
Discog's link w/ more info...
12 - NDK "Beatdisaster" Miditonal 064 [We Come From Da East Volume 1 EP 2005]
Another NDK gem, it's not quite as intense as the above track. This one is definitely safer. Safe doesn't mean boring though. It's a crazy old school sample, beat frenzy.

13 - Midiotz "Blip Blip (Paul Birken Rework)" Animal Trax 01 [Blip Blip EP 2007]
I bought this record for the Paul Birken track and I've only listened to the Paul Birken track so far. I'll probably stop playing the record and stow it away in the shelves after a few months, still without having listened to the rest of the record. It's just how it goes sometimes.

14 - Fugo "Distroy Our Habitat" Neue Heimat 24 [Robots Engaged In Bondage EP 2004]
I always forget about this EP. 3 of the 4 tracks are worthy of being turned up to 11. This one is my favorite, but only by a slim margin. I think I prefer this EP over everything else Fugo has done. Not to say the rest is bunk. Quite the contrary! The Mercurochrome stuff is aces as well. Hunt it down and play it loudly.

15 - Lusinda & Mark Hawkins "Save Me" Victim 04 [Influences EP 2005]
Another Mark and Lucie. This one is from a whole Ep they did together. It's a more focused and driving Ep than the one the Counting track above is on. It actually reminds me...have I ever heard any solo Lucie??? I can't remember. Maybe it's time to dig around.

16 - Polaris "Arse Magic" Sonic Groove 96402 [The Encryption Factor EP 1996]
Ah, the old Neil Landstrumm Bleep and Nipple Tweak days with Armani-isms thrown in for good measure. Pure ghetto rhythm track bleepage. I can never decide whether I like this Ep better than the other Sonic Groove Ep he did. They both have their bits of magic about them. I guess they both share a spot. This one has the drum funk while the other sports a bassline heavier style.

17 - Joey Beltram "M-Yard" Tresor 35 [Sirius LP 1995]
I think everyone knows of Joey Beltram. Unfortunately not enough people know of his good material. He did SO many great songs and records in the past that it makes me hang my head whenever I hear his new stuff. I personally wanted to string him up when he released that Tresor EP under his old Code 6 name. It should have been left at the three earlier EPs that rocked.

18 - Marc Acardipane "Touched By Sound" Adrenacrome 3-64 [Untitled EP 1998]
I don't really know much about this guy or the label. To tell the truth I don't even know where the record came from. It was probably a used bin purchase years ago. Anyone care to share some background?
Discog's link w/ more info...
19 - Justin Berkovi "Neon" Clone Vinyl 05 [Fast-Wide EP 1998]
I know this one was a used bin purchase for sure. It's a Berkovi, who I've always felt was hit or miss. I think he needs someone to tell him which of his tracks are good enough to warrant release. He seems to make odd selections at times. I know he's capable of truly good records. I just wish I saw more of them.

Bleep 66: Trevor Wilkes
Bleep 66
Aired: July 5th, 2007
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes / [email protected][/email]
Another week, another Bleep. Bleep's numbers have been jumping higher than usual lately. What the heck is going on? I hope those guests I've got lined up get their mixes in soon so no one is disappointed!
I'm awaiting mixed from: Chris Sattinger, Hanno Hinkelbein and Luke's Anger. patiently awaiting. no word on when they'll be in, so you're stuck with my mixes until then. Unless someone else sends one in that I really like!
Track-list:
00 - Edit "Bleep Radio Intro"
When I say Bleep, you say yeaaaahhhhh!
Edit's Web Site
01 - Z-Bomb "Unknown" Bunker [Keepers Of The Cheese Ep 2007]
Along the lines of old Circuit Breaker and other such tastey stuff. This track is a stab at the heart of those who like their music clean and in it's place. No idea who this Z-Bomb cat is, but we all know what Bunker is. Or we should at any rate. They're currently in one of their runs of good music. Always have to take advantage of that when it happens.

02 - Fugo "System Overload" Neue Heimat 24 [Robots Engaged In Bondage EP]
Another great track off an EP I've been toting around a lot again. It's a slow burner, it catches your ear without you really catching it doing so. Neue heimat needs to step up the pace with it's releases. I choose to ignore the rumour of no more Neue Heimats until I hear it right from someone's mouth who at the very least holds the position of CEO or higher.

03 - Digital Princezz "Lazy Milk Man" Mutter 13 [The Owner Of Half The World EP 2001]
There is some controversy over who exactly DP is. I personally don't care. I do know that about half of what DP releases is some pretty pimpin Techno. I can live with that. I wasn't too huge a fan of the latest DP on Feinwerk. It's ok, but what that means is the next one will probably rock.

04 - Neil Landstrumm "Pussy Puppy" Tresor 170 [Glamourama EP 2001]
I think this EP had something to do with a video game..??? I'm probably wrong. I can't even remember where that silly nonsense crept into my head from. I can tell you with certainty that this whole record is a bad-ass record. As you can tell for yourself if you're here already in the set.

05 - TJR "I'm In The Pocket" Tonewrecker 13 [I'm In The Pocket EP 2007]
When I initially heard the track sample for this when the release was announced I wasn't keen on the TJR mix. I absolutely loved Paul Birken's, but this mix didn't sit well with me. Now that I have the record and I can hear it loud and clear and at full length...I can tell you it's awesome. One of those cross-genre songs I love so much. I'll be able to listen and or play this anywhere and it'll go over well with whomever.

06 - Luke's Anger "Yo Ass" Bowwow 05 [Dead Like Elvis Ep 2006]
This EP has future classic written all over it. Of course that's just me being cheeky with my markers, but it's for good reason. I can't even really describe the overall sound of the EP. it's got so much variety crammed into 4 tracks it should be made into the National Anthem for one of the smallish countries.

07 - Blackmass Plastics "Gatesmasher" Bowwow 06 [Quarantine Zone EP 2007]
Blackmass is a new found artist for me. Someone forgot to keep me in the loop a few years back for about 10 minutes and it resulted in me missing out on some gold. Big up the Uk badness this guy represents. I love it and want more.

08 - Fix "Dope Computer" KMS 43 [Flash EP 1992]
I think we all know this record. By ear at any rate. Now you know what it is, if you didn't already. Classic tune on the flip, but Dope Computer is just as good and doesn't get as much air time. Changed that!

09 - Smooky "Fresh (Feat. Nino-Fight, MC Coeld'r, Dj Idem)" Electronik Weed Crew 07 [Do You Remembmer Ep 2007]
A lot of nerds went on saying this EP wasn't as good as previous Smooky/EWC material. Sure it may be a change of pace for them, but if you want to get all nasty every time someone tries something a tad different than I suggest eating something long and cumbersome. Ho! It's great fun, who doesn't like Swedish Mc'ing on top of a Kool and the Gang's remix of "Fresh"?

10 - Jacob London "The Casino Squirrels and Lounge Shooter" Utensil 19 [Droppin Squirrels EP 2007]
I actually played the wrong song on this EP, but I figured it was too late to turn back. It's still good of course. Anyone who's live-sets involve singing into a vocoder stuffed into a monkey's anus can't go too wrong.

11 - The Wee Djs "Kick it VIP" Combat Recordings 10 [Darkhorse Dubs Ep 2006]
Another Wee track. I'm a big Wee fan. The low end, whether it's distorted or not, is always done proper. The little extra squiggly bleeps are what do my head in though.
Discog's link w/ more info...
12 - Daze Maxim "Unknown" White
The one sheet that came with this has fallen out. I believe it's Serial killer's Haircut 31, but since the info has been lost I can't be sure. I should have markered it on like the rest I know. Ok. I'm 98% sure this is SKH 01. Confirmation so I can write it on the damn record already?
13 - Blackmass Plastics "Freak House" Rag & Bone 11 [Four Aces Ep 2006]
Yadda Yadda BMP. Right after I heard the Bowwow Ep I did some digging for any other BMP I might like. The problem was I couldn't find one I didn't like and this was the only other one in stock. My eyes are peeled now.

14 - Jason Leach "Untitled" Input-Output 11 [Beateater EP 2005]
Cynthia Stern's label is currently one of my favorites. Top 5 for sure. It's likely to stay there for a while too. I could see him messing it all up by suddenly only releasing Germanic Polka mash-ups or something. Great label + Jason Leach = Holy trouser trout! The long chiptune/breabeat gem on the flip is what I usually play the snot out of, I thought I'd try this side out today. Sounds like I should have checked it out sooner.

15 - Youngman & Landstrumm "Double Bag It" Input-Output 09 [Destroyaz EP 2005]
The Destroyaz they call themselves when touring together and that's exactly what they do. A certified legend and another one in the making?
Discog's link w/ more info...
16 - Joy Division "She's Lost Control (Neil Landstrumm Cover Version)" Scandinavia 25 [Factory Revival Ep 2006]
When Neil takes hold of the reins and vocals are involved he seems to get better and better. I can't remember an instance of it not being awesome, but it improves every time as well. This one was a project that sat close to home for him, influential music from his early music beginnings.

17 - Caucasian Boy "Honey Dip (Prime Cutz Mix)" Strictly Rhythm 12201 [HoneyDip/Northern Lights EP 1993]
There's always room for acid. This is a bit of an oldie that may not sit well with some. I would even be tempted to say it's a bit of a light weight these days. I was in the mood for it though so what I can say?
Discog's link w/ more info...
18 - Lambda "Hold On Tight (Laidback Luke Remix)" La Maison Grande [Hold On Tight LP 1999]
I first heard the original mix of this played by Barry Weaver back in the 90's sometime. I didn't know what it was at the time, but it stuck in my head. I was thoroughly stoked when I was skimming through new releases one day and discovered not only what it was, but that it was also being repressed. I love those happy occurences!

19 - DadaBleep "Nikeshirts" RZ Music 20 [Nikeshirts EP 2007]
RZ rocks out again with another record that could have been written 15 years ago, but wasn't.A new take on the classic acid sound. Always welcome in my home. It reminds me of another record that was big about 2 years ago. And now for the life of me I can't remember just what the hell that other record is. I'll ponder some more...

Bleep 67
Aired: July 12th, 2007
Mixed by: Trevor Wilkes / [email protected][/email]
Close call. I recorded this mix 2 hours before the Live Stream. I usually get it out of the way on the weekend so I can do other things through the week. I wasn't in the mood to play last weekend though. I even put together a whole show of Unmixed tracks with me being all Mr. Radio and playing with my Mic. Yeah I was none to happy with that so I scratched it and warmed up the decks when I got home from work.
Bleep 67 was a pain in the arse.
Hopefully some of the future guests get mixes in so we can go back to enjoying Bleep. Lined up and awaiting mixes from: Chris Sattinger, Hanno Hinkelbein, Luke's Anger, Paul Birken and a few others right now. Patience my pretties....
Track-list:
00 - Edit "Bleep Radio Intro"
Ed, you're a nerd.
Edit's Website
01 - Cristian Vogel "Ninja" Tresor 35 [Sirius LP 1995]
This track of Cris' has always been a pain in my backside. I love it, but can never find much to play with it. To this day I've never found 1 other record or track that I can say I really think meshes well with it. It makes me curse and sweat. Although the sweat may just be the heat right now.

02 - Chris Sattinger "Joy Etc." Subvoice 10 [The mumbler Ep 1997]
Chris Sattinger, AKA Mono Ekagra, Timeblind, Keek and a few others has always been a hell of a producer. All the stuff he put out on the Mid-west acid labels and Probe was awesome. Even his dubstep stuff these days is pretty rocking. This is the record that contains the track "Fun in the Murky". Do I have to tell you what that means or can ya'll figure it out?

04 - Blackmass Plastics "Beatings" Rag & Bone 11 [Four Aces Ep 2006]
Kick step you way on over and enjoy blackmass with me. As mentioned the last few shows in a row: I'm newly hooked on BMP. can anyone recommend some of his older releases to me? Something I should check out for sure.

05 - Queaver & Versis "Dr. Pest" Error 04 [De Nischel Ep 2006]
Q&V are usually hiding on a b-side somewhere with only one track to their name on a comp. This time however, they've got, well, the b-side again, but at least this time they got the whole damn side! I'm a huge fan of their newest track on Kugelbox 5. "..and I hate to cook!" The half time breakdown made fukhouse get silly.

I bought this EP for the Begg mix, but ended up liking the Rush Berlin mix better once it was in my posession. Go figure, I'm not really a Rush fan at all, but there are some gems and gold bits strewn throughout his prolific career.

07 - Aeox "2:0" Neue Heimat 32 [Easy Jetset EP 2007]
This is possibly the last Aeox Ep we'll ever see unfortunately. Both Hanno and Alex have parted to work on other things. In theory what this means is more releases from the two of them. Not as Aeox, but hey I'll take what I can get.

09 - RV "Kill Me" Bombtrap 04 [Bombsplit 1 EP 2006]
I was playing the flip side to this for awhile, but only just realized that I hadn't really given RV's two track on this side much of a chance. Zing...it's good too. I really need to buy less vinyl so that I can fully appreciate what I do have in a timely manner.

I love this Ep and am glad that I sent Sueme to Cynthia at I-O %28Mr. braggery runs amok!%29 when he was looking for a home for it. Sueme as some of you know used to be half of Subhead and Total useful is a Japanese lad if my memory serves me correct. Phil went on about him, but now I've forgotten it all.

11 - Subhead "Unknown" Subhead 14 [14 EP 1998]
At my local record store -- when I had one -- I was known as the guy who bought the weird stuff. Suited me just fine, but one day the owner got this record in. I don't think I had too much Subhead at this point. Maybe one other Ep and I'd seen them live in Toronto once around this time too. Point to that was..I bet you it was this EP that sent me round the bend and had me looking past the Detroit and more for the Real Techno.

Near the end of the 90's was when I was on my "minimal" kick. That was when I started buying up the Sutekh, Twerk and Kit Clayton stuff. I thought it was awesome %28still do!%29, but then a few years went by and I noticed that there was more and more coming out. And less and less of it was worth buying. Fast forward to 2007. The situation hasn't improved. I can't stand 99.9% of whatcomes out in the "minimal" bins these days. Why can't Sutekh come back to his former glory? Seth...give us one last romp in the woods.

I've been sitting on this mix for 3 weeks now. it's been patiently waiting it's airtime. it's the mix that kinda marks the cross over between the bag of records I've been playing out for the last month or so and the bag I'm replacing that with. The next 2-3 shows of my own will all be like that, each week featuring less stuff that I've played recently. Aside from explaining that, there's not much else to tell this week!
Future confirmed Bleep guests:
Luke's Anger, Paul Birken, Hanno Hinkelbein, Chris Sattinger, Cristian Vogel
Next Weeks Show: Wifi of the Undead - Dub & Rave-step badness

[01:00] 01 - TJR "I'm In The Pocket" Tonewrecker 13 [I'm In The Pocket EP 2007]
I wont go on again about how I came to realize how much I like this track. For that you can refer to previous Bleeps. I will mention again that it'll probably be a long time before it leaves my bag so get used to hearing it.

[05:33] 02 - Luke's Anger "Organ Monkey" Tigerbass 02 [Give Em Some Freq EP 2007]
Again I'm always going on about Luke's stuff. I've spoiled him enough. I'll relate a quick story instead. last Saturday my girlfriend and I went to the drive-in. Sitiing in the car, in line, waiting to pay, I was listening to this mix. At the point this track came on the car beside us gave us strange looks. I didn't say it was a good story...

[08:35] 03 - Sugar Experiment Station "Influence Technology" Scandinavia 03 [Ultimathule EP 1996]
All four tracks on this EP should be drilled into people's head the very second they are born. Unless it's discovered that loud music is bad for newborns. I suspect it may be. it's classic in my circles and I suspect other's as well. Neil Landstrumm and Tobias Schmidt work together well now and seemingly always have. Although to be fair I didn't have to think that up myself. neil says so in his Archives

[11:50] 04 - Tobias Schmidt "Systemshocker" Feinwerk 11 [Heavy Makeup EP 2007]
Another track, from another record, that wont be soon leaving the bag. Toby has been absolutely killing it the last few releases. he's always been someone I kept an eye out for, but it's reached a new level. It all started with the Monkey Tennis EP. Something changed. For the better.

[26:40] 08 - Jamie Lidell "Freely Freekin" Mosquito 08 [Freekin The Frame EP 1997]
I've come to the conclusion that this is probably my favorite track. Most people start off sucking at least a little. jamie started off where most end up and has only gotten better since this record. Big up the TSR boys for hooking me up with this so I can have a 2nd copy. Not to hog it, but to be able to play the snot out of it without worrying about ruining my only copy!

[43:31] 13 - Subhead "Forest Friends" Subhead 02 [Forest Friends Ep 1996]
Subhead of course being quite good at what they do did it again on the 2nd release of their own label. This is the track that most people buy it for if I do remember idle chat correctly. The release party for this EP was big news at the time and apparently was 5 shades of awesome. Subhead live and Claude Young when the music he played was still good? Yes please.

This is a new addition to the bag, but it's been around the block. I made myself put it away for a while as I over played it big time when it first came out. I'm allowing myself to use it again. Sparingly. if I overdo it...suck it up.

There's one difference....The LP is even better. It's got Bill Youngman and aLXe doing guest bits on it. Previews soon my pretties

[54:53] 16 - Cannibal Cooking Club "longpigchef (Bill Youngman Remix)" Cannibal Cooking Club 04 [Recooked Volume 1 EP 2005]
This is probably one of my favorite remixed tracks. Bill totally turned a decent CCC track into gold. A guy I work with who doesn't normally listen to anything electronic heard this on a cd I had. he was fist pumping within seconds. Uh..in the air.

[57:32] 17 - Kylie Minogue "Slow (Tomas Nordstrom Feat. Chill Cover Version)"
I had to include this track. I tossed it in at the very end as I believe it deserves a full play out. I wont bother telling you all just how much I love it. I'll let you decide for yourself just how damn catchy it is.

Bleep 70: Wifi of the Undead
Bleep 70
Aired: August 2nd, 2007
Mixed by: Wifi of the Undead (UK) / @ Virb / @ Myspace
I first discovered Ben when he posted an old rave track mix online. I liked it so incredibly much I had to host it for him so that it could reach more people. After listening to it countless times and never having it grow old on me and then subsequently finding out that Ben also makes some bad-ass tracks of his own I figured it was time to ask him to Bleep.

Mr. Love Eggs made this. With no help! Honest!!
Ed's Site
01 - Wyndell Long "She Heard Me Cry" Peacefrog 50 [She Heard Me Cry EP 1996]
Wyndell Long is a bit of a madman. In the good way. Sample bashing and rearranging done like few others! This track always makes me think of Studio 1's Orange EP though. It's the little chirpy bits!

I used to like Basement Jaxx. Have you heard them now though? yeah, so we're on the same page.

03 - Black Science Orchestra "New Jersey Deep" In The House 19 [Defected Miami 2007 LP 2007]
This track is pure sex. That bassline is awesome. I can vividly remember the first time I ever heard it. Well sorta. I know what house I lived in at the time. Couldn't tell you what day of the week it was or anything. I imagine I had on...pants?? And a shirt. Maybe.

04 - Outsider "Sex Is Extra %28No Assembly Firm's .Dotbleep Re-Edit%29" Junior Boy's Own 12 [Sex Is Extra EP 2006]
This track again. I know I've played it in a few Bleeps lately, but it snuck back into my bag. I can't help it. When my girlfriend likes a track %28like this one%29 I tend to take advantage of the fact and keep it around for quite a while to keep her happy. Otherwise she'll get all harpy ;%29

I don't really know anything about this. I was just listening to new releases and It sounded familiar and good. Familiar in that I think it's been sampled heavily from something older...?? Or is my mind playing tricks on me? Probably the whole tricky mind thing.

07 - Dj HMC "Cum On" Dirty House Records 01 [Untitled EP 1995]
The flip side to Phreakin! I really, really wanted to play the other side of this record, but I forced myself to have a bit of restraint. No need to get all ravey too early. This bad boy holds it's own so there's no worry.

08 - Marshall Jefferson "Move Your Body %28Mike Ink Remix 1%29" White
It took me a long time to get this. To tell the truth, in retrospect it wasn't that hard when I finally did. It's just that I sorta forgot about trying for a few years. It's a JAM. I don't have too much Mike Ink, but he does have a few acid tracks that you can't ignore.

Bleep 73
Aired: August 23rd, 2007
Performed by: TSR (SE) / @ Discogs, Otto TSR, TSR the Label
Fredrik Askebris, Robert Sundelin and Tomas Nordstrm or as I have taken to calling them: Robi, Tomi and Fredi are three guys with a sense of humour and a love for Techno that moves you. The first time I heard one of their EPs I knew for certain I'd found something great. Each Ep since that first has improved. Not that they've needed to. From strength to strength the TSR boys are setting the bar. Look forward (as I am) to the next EP on their label. It's Ska-cid like you've never heard.

Bleep 74: Queaver
Bleep 74
Aired: August 30th, 2007
Mixed by: Queaver (DE) / @ Discogs
This week's Bleep Radio episode was selected and mixed by Queaver. Some of you may recognize the name from his 'Queaver and Versis' productions (alongside partner Versis of course) and some may know him as the A&R for Kugelbox Records For those who don't know of him at all, consider this your introduction.
Queaver doesn't really consider himself a 'Dj' as he focuses mainly on his Live-Set, he is a fan of Electronic music though and collects the records he finds to be good. He obviously knows how to string them together and would probably do so in public if asked.
Queaver with Versis has productions on Miditonal, Cannibal Cooking Club, Shed and Kugelbox. Check some out!

Superstar Dj Loz relies on mainly on the law of averages in assembling his mixes. Put enough together and one is bound to come out ok. His love of the colour Pink clearly shows through in this mix, as does the love of his favorite war: The Fawklands War.

This episode of Bleep is also the fourth installment in the 'Clearly Smudged' mix series. It's a mix of what I feel to be GOOD 'minimal' or 'tech-house'. I hear too much that puts me to sleep. Absolute snore-fests.

This mix was recorded specifically for Bleep, however, it's been sitting around for a month or two. I only have 1 more mix waiting in the wings so I guess it's almost time to record a bunch more. Unless some guest mixes pop out of the woodwork. Which could happen at any minute I guess.

Bleep 78 marks the end of my batch of pre-recorded shows. So I guess that means this weekend I'll have to sit down and crank out a couple more. I've been kinda itching for this moment as I've got a lot of new stuff here that hasn't Bleeped yet and it's begging too.

Bleep's goal is to bring quality dance-floor music, music without it's head up it's arse, to areas where it's seemingly lacking. Stale music has taken over and needs to move over. Variety is one component of Bleep, but only one of many. Look forward to hearing many forms of Electronic music with labeling of the sub-genres firmly ignored. We need less labels, not more. Techno is the label that Bleep assumes, but it's the Techno label of days gone by...with a sense of humour.

This week's Bleep is a tour through new and old records. I put away a ton of wax and now I'm digging through to see what couple hundred will sit out for play for the next month or two. This set was recorded as I pulled records out, it could probably have done with some pre-planning at points. But I've never bothered with that anyway.

Another week of shelf browsing being translated into records played and recorded. Starts off a bit slower than usual I guess.
I did make one giant mistake. I (apparently) saved it at a low quality setting VBR and don't have the original wav any longer. The plus is that it's a small file...the minus is that there's obviously a trade off with the smaller than usual file. Sorry about any quality issues up front!

For some crazy reason I've been getting some request for more beats and breaks, slow mo electro type things. So here's another one in that vein (somewhat).
After this show and the other one I have recorded already (probably next week's) I think it'll be House and slightly Tech for a bit as that's what my next few gigs are so that's what has had to go in the bag right now.

Aired: October 25th, 2007
Mixed by: Jerome Hill (UK) / Don't Recordings, Jerome on Myspace
If I was pressured into naming my top 100 favorite record labels Don't Recordings would be in that list. What's even more impressive is that it would also make my top 5. I Don't think I've left home without a Don't Recordings record in my bag in 2-3 years now. It's varied, dance-floor friendly and just plain good music.
With Jerome Hill helming it, of course it's got a good catalog. Jerome is one of the few jocks who I really do enjoy listening to regardless of what he's playing. Apparently that taste and style translates very well into what he opts to release on his label. With that in mind, here's a sampling of the Don't catalog in the form of a showcase mix put together by Jerome Hill.

Bleep 83: Spewis & Luke's Anger Re-Live
Bleep 83
Aired: November 1st, 2007
Performed Live by:
Spewis (UK) / Myspace
Luke's Anger (UK) / Myspace
Coin Operated / Coin Op on Myspace
Bleep Radio #83 is a 'Re-Live' show. Re-Lives are shows that consist of the audio recorded at an event and then broadcast at a later date. The audio from this particular re-live was originally played by Spewis and Luke's Anger (separately) at a 'Coin Operated' night at Club Neurotica in Hackney on Sept. 22nd, 2007. As you should know by now 'Coin Operated' is the moniker that Mustard Gunn uses for both his events and label. The Coin Operated nights are currently the place to be!
Mustard Gunn has now bought himself a recording device so in the future there should be many more Coin Op sets available, including more from this same night. How pleasant.

Aired: November 8th, 2007

At a recent jam at Atmosphere Cafe in Guelph I had some fun with the host of the night (Kaelin!) and his excessive level checking (ha! inside jokes rock!!(not really!!!)). I also happened to enjoy what I played there, so the next day I opened up the bag and recorded the first hour of the set record-for-record. This isn't the live set, but I'm enjoying it anyhow.
Once again...sorry it's not a corker. I keep getting asked to do more hard sets and I really do mean too. It's been so long since I played some of it in public (for some reason I'm asked to play stuff like tonight's show more) that it's hard to get back into the swing. I'm getting the itch to delve into the Electro shelves again too though. Especially with the newest Spacebar Sentiments having just arrived on my door-step.
