that's all fine and good. I thought the subject of the post was about the numark unit.. not who thinks I'm a newb.

If you want me to justify myself, I could just tell you I work here and I've known about this product for 3 months.

Well the fact that it's now on sale is news, indeed. I just meant that TA had a few topics regarding this in the other sections BEFORE it was released.

But yeah... That's a really cool find in the mail.

Ive known about it for just as long, if not longer, it was posted in the DJ Booth some time ago, but since everyone agree's to the fact that this mixer is pretty lame... lets get to the real subject at hand...

Whats your c-line on the UDG bags, and how much will the Slanted SoftBag run me?

actually what will probably happen sooner is that some company will develop a stand-alone product to manage pitch control of an ipod. This will essentially make it a much more marketable product as the buyer would not necessarily need to have two ipods in order to take advantage. Haven't heard any REAL news about this though..just seems like an easier and more affordable alternative

Stand alone how? The main outlet is plugged into the mixer, if they made an expansion pack that plugs into the ipod and into the mixer it might work, but again, they would cost alot of money because of how much is involved in digital editing. Also, the positioning would be hella uncomfortable to use the pitch adjustment. Also, you cant really beatmatch on something that digital, how are you gonna cue up a track? You would need a computer monitor with digital editing...

Youre better off just getting 2 laptops with Final Scratch or Serato Live or Ableton, it would probably cost just as much as getting 2 iPods and whatever digital mixer they devise to adjust pitch.

Well dint wanna post in this thread again...but still..you make me wanna.

How is an standalone Pitch controller gonna make it easier, if anything, its making it more complicated. First> The ipod's dock on the the mixer right?? Now, if there ever is a standalone pitch controller, the data from the iPod's have to be channelized to the "standalone" pitch controller for processing and then back into the mixer...now.the ipod's dont have an output to go to the standalone pitch controller....even if they do they are taken up by the mixer....so what do we have here....data from the iPod goes to the mixer...then to the standalone pitch controller...pitch is manipulated and THEN BACK TO THE MIXER??!!! WTF!!! IMPOSSIBLE!!

You work at topdjgear?? hmm I'll remember to do my research before I buy from that place. Now I hate saying it...but yes..you have proved to be a n00.......

wow. looks like I REALLY need to be more clear when I post around here.

What I mean is that a stand-alone ipod pitch-control unit would operate just like a stand-alone CD player, except rather than coming from the manufacturer without CD's (the user supplies the CD's), this unit would come without the iPod (also, supplied by the user) which would just "pop in". This is so you wouldn't necessarily need to replace your mixer (you can use ANY mixer) to add an iPod as a music source with the ability to adjust pitch. Just use an extra line in. A unit like this would handle all the processing of the data from the ipod, and could have a built-in charging dock, just like that Numark unit.

I'm not a product developer, but it's only a matter of time. If this industry has managed to come up with technology like Final Scratch, the Numark CDX and the Tascam TTM-1, I'm actually surprised something like this hasn't surfaced already.
