Charlee & the case of the missing Tim Tam's

seen this movie tonight
after reading lots of "its shit" reviews i kinda went in thinking oh no they have ruined my favourite childhood movie, how could i ever live with myself.
But alas i must say i really enjoyed it, i think you cant sit there and compare every little thing to the original. Yes, where was the lickable wall paper "Snarsberry what the hell is a snarsberry" fav line from the original

Must say i found it quite humerous, "i love grapes"
nearly pissed myself at the randomness

I liked how wonka's character was dark, and yes he doesnt like little kids that was portrayed in the original aswell, think they just bought that bit of the character out in this film. Isnt that the role of tim burton? Also liked the fact that u got to find out more about wonka than the previous movie, ie: about why he started making chocolate ect

Those freak oompa loompas were not as cute as the originals but their dance moves were fantastic, pissed myself and can see me doing them while drunk, esp grandpa joe's dance

I enjoyed the movie and think it should be a must see, if u grew up watching the original and knowing it word for word as i did

aaww the squirrals were v cute aswell

loved the movie, thoght depp was awesome in it. you can't compare it to the original movie because its based on the novel not the movie (i think)

Yep def enjoyed this heaps. Thought Johnny Depp was amazing, all the weird arse faces he pulled and all the shit he gave the kids...

We have a winner, you are correct.

Soups you're an idiot if you expected Tim Burton to use bright colours and make it a happy movie.

I liked it a lot. I also like Burton + Depp's other work.

I really liked how this movie IS DARK, not light and fluffy.

+ 1

I dont understand how anyone expected a fluffed up version of this movie. Cmon they casted Johnny Depp as Mr Wonka, what did you expect?

Posted by greedy myles on Sep-07-2005 14:44:

personally - loved it!
Now i know it doesn't 'beat' the original, and it's not all the same - GOOD. Would you really want to see the same movie again? it's remake, not repeat, an adaptation not a photocopy.
Loved Burton's balls to take on such a fuckin institution of a film, and actual stray from the path a little...
And btw, fuck i can't wait for Corpse Bride (again, Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, Helena Bohnam Carter)!

I thought the remake Rocks!
Just as much as the original!...

bit darker.. and Johnny Depp Rocks as Wonka.
thats my opinion!

tim burton was alwas going to do it differrent!

I thoguht the new version was closer to the book's story than the old version.
I didn't like the oompa loompa's in the new movie, but other than that I liked it!

finally got to see this last weekend.

johnny depp is brilliant! i loved the oompa loompa songs and dances heaps more than the original. the oompa's in the original scare me

This was a brilliant portrayel of the book, i enjoyed every minute of it.

Roald Dahl was known to have hated the 1971 movie because it wasnt a good representation of how he had imagined the story. I think he would have stood up in his grave up and applauded Tim Burton for this masterpiece.

Willy Wonker: "I am having a flashback"

One of the parents: "Do you get them often?"

Willy Wonker: "More increasingly today" (or something along those lines)

Great movie and a very brilliantly directed and acted film with a very dark and accurate insight into Roald Dahels imagination. Roald Dahel had a very twisted imagination and Tim Burton & Johnny Depp are the perfect team to put his stories onto the big screen.

This is one of the best films i have ever seen, the influence this will have on the cinema/film industry is massive.
