hahahaha...thank you!!

seriously...lets just list all the trance songs that we'd list in any other listing type thread...

you guys want some sad melancholy beautiful type songs...you need to dig into some downtempo...

Posted by AchillesB on Aug-19-2005 16:13:

hmm I really love sad emotional tracks as well and most of your picks here are certainly good. I wanna add some.

System F - Solstice (Back in the days [2000 I think] where Slinky was a top club and on a night that Armin and Ferry [at top form] were playing together I asked this from Ferry and he played it straight away. That was probably the very first time [and one of the few] that I actually felt...ehm ...ecstacy.)
Altituted - Night Stalker (Chris Raven Remix) (Absolutely wonderful)
Armin - Communication (Armin's best ever)
Kuffdam & Plant - Seduction (The Level Above Mix) (SOOOO SAD)
2 Players - Signet (Plastic Angel Mix)
Midway - Inca
Cass & Slide - Glad I Ate Her (Original Mix)
Signum - Second Wave (Original Mix) (In my book probably the best trancer ever...well hard to say really but it's definetely up there)
adgio for strings (you can't deny it, and the fred baker version rocks)
Darren Tate Vs. Jono Grant - Let The Light Shine In
Ferry Corsten - sweet sorrow (album extended mix) (I like all versions but this is probably the sadest)
Jas van houten - heaven's gate (katana remix) (I'm a HUGE fan of Randy Katana but when I first heard this I wasn't THAT impressed. About a month after I heard it played live by Tiesto in Thessaloniki/Greece and had a completely different effect on me since)
kamaya painters - cryptomnesia (i'm actually listening to the tracks I'm proposing and I think I'm gonna slice my wrists in the end!)
Leama - Requiem For A Dream (Leama Dream Mix) (don't get me started on the progressive ones. lots of sad tunes there)
Lustral - Everytime (Nalin & Kane Mix) (psssssss goosebumbs)
M.I.K.E. - Sunrise At Palamos (If it wasn't for this guy I don't know where trance would be today)
Mekka - Diamondback
Moon Project - Moments Are Forever (M.I.K.E. again)
Mogwai - Hunted By A Freak (Attention Deficit Remix) (Did this ever actually get a realese??)
Oliver Prime - Velvet Sunshine (almost all of this guys productions and sets are fantastic and have a very sad mood)
P.G.L. - Sunshine
Plastic Boy - Silver Bath (yet again)
Pulser - My Religion
Push - Strange World (and again)
Rank 1 Feat. Shanokee - Such Is Life (The deep dub was so ahead of it's time, one of the earliest techtrance tunes)
Three drives - Sunset on Ibiza (What A classic!)
Three Drives - Carrera 2
The Digital Blonde - Electra (The Digital Blonde RULES)
The Digital Blonde - Legato
Arc In The Sky - Vainqueur
Tony Walker - Fields Of Joy (Flutlicht Mix)
Yahel - Voyage (A proper voyage or trip if you like)
Yoji Biomehanika - Ding A Ling (DJ Scot Project Remix) (Well this is very bangin indeed but that melody...the synth is crying there)

...and many many more

If you're looking for new ones try these:
Visior & Dark Moon - Hidden Sun
Vivid - Love Again (Dark Moon Remix)

Try my fav online radio station Soma FM.
Try Groove Salad, Drone Zone, or Beat Blender.

Maybe they aren't your style, but I hope you check a couple of them out.

WOW
Very smooth mix. Sounds like it could be on Oslo Nights.

Craig Armstrong - Balcony Scene

Stunning track, one of my fav's ever, so imagine my excitment when this was produced:

Mark Thornton - Theme For Star Crossed Lovers

Bliss...

*EDIT*

This has/is being released on ATCR digital lable e-TCR, don't think this will see a vinyl release. CDJ's have permission to pat themselves on the back :P

*EDIT (Again)*

I highly recommend you check out the original too, its the only tune that has given me goosebumps and it possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

And btw, its okay to cry over music, sound along with smell is one of the most provoking senses we have, hence why so many people love music.

I cry, to quote friends "crying is good... It lets the boo hoo's out!"

Indeed mate, That's a very nice example of sad Theme trance. I'm pretty surprised that no one has said anything about Thomas Datt - Alone [Inertia Remix]. That one's stunning.

The Inertia remix isn't sad, it's one of the happiest melodies I've heard in a while.

defo, Odyssey - Evolution, class!

also

DSP - From Russia With Love (Lieb Mix)

I think that melody is sad, I like to listen to it when I'm a little sad and it helps..I don't know, I guess you don't get the same feeling as I do when listening to it.

Posted by Iceferno on Aug-19-2005 22:12:

4 Strings - Let It Rain (The Mystery Remix)
Above & Beyond - Far From In Love (Airbase Remix)
Cosmicman - I Love You
Matti Laamanen - Live
Rah - Wave [sometimes Glow & Wave get mixed up, the one i'm referring to is the one with the seagulls and bongos at the beginning.]
Scooter - I'm Your Pusher (Airscape Mix) [not as sad as the Clubstar Remix of Ramp!]
Scooter - Ramp! [The Logical Song] (Clubstar Remix)
The Scarab vs Inzite - Unity Of Earth (Cosmicman's Meesah Remix)

non-trance:
James Blunt - You're beutiful

These tunes create a sad dark feeling to me:

Push - The Journey of life, That break brings me weird shivers
Ernesto vs Bastian - Lonely people
Solar Factor - No return

Posted by Unique2701 on Aug-20-2005 16:45:

What 'bout Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (Tiesto mix) (not the Tiesto ISOS mix)..

cuz it's easier to drown.. then to find a place where I feel sincerity

and in the end.. you're not for me.. not for me... Argh! I'm feelin her pain

I was just feeling down in life, and i needed something that helped me deal with it. Not necessarily get me out of my sad mood, but instead to embrace it.

2002 was a big year for the sad sound, two things i listen to, when im in that mood:

Paul Oakenfold - Essential Mix - LIve at Space, Ibiza(sooo beautiful)
Sasha - 2002 07 24 - Live at La Mania, 3-4 hours of emotional bliss
Tiesto - ISOS 3

thanks for all the input guys, it is much appreciated.

Any more suggestions for Themed sets?

Paul Oakenfold - Live at Space, Ibiza.. which date?

Posted by ARNATINE on Aug-20-2005 23:20:

Riva - time is the healer (hiver&hammer rmx)
Danjo & Rob Styles - Aragon

I know there is more but I cant remember
