THE SAUCY SORCERER

One day a saucy sorcerer winks at a witch. She immediately pays him back by turning him into a toad. Can you take away six of the seven shapes below to leave a sort of toad?

Choose from the following to leave:

A. His hat
B. His brow
C. His right eye (his perspective)
D. His left eye (his perspective)
E. His nose
F. His moustache
G. His mouth

Man this is so f'n easy it's insulting.

Posted by Akridrot on Aug-24-2005 02:23:

Spacey, don't think this all that guy has to offer. Tommorow you'll see. I have to look for it, but I'm going to bed now.

I have puzzles with the most obvious answers, that 90% people will never be able to solve.

*this is my really, really real last post for tonight(low willpower).

Three intelligent professors are called into a room. They are each given a mark on their foreheads that is either red or blue. They are then told that at least two of them have a red mark on their forehead. Then they are asked to guess what color the mark on their head is.

Several minutes passed, and no one answered. Then, one professor stood up and revealed the answer. He was correct.

What did he say and why?

DOWN PAYMENT

A wizard pops into his local magic store to buy a new pet toad. Unfortunately, he only has 2 on him and the toad costs quite a bit more than this. He therefore asks the shopkeeper if he can pay 1 now and the rest the following week. The kind shopkeeper agrees to this and the wizard leaves the store happy with 1 in his pocket and a toad. How much does the toad cost?

this one is kinda lame

Blaine is a Pain and THAT is the truth.

Also Theresa, every train has a name, it is usually given by the engineer in charge of running it

If I had a train, boat, or other nameable vehicle (better than a car) I would name it The Susan Delgado, of course.

haha brilliant!

here's one.

Brighter than the sun, and darker than black.
The rich man needs it while the poor man has it.
The dead man eats it always.

Another:

I have a hundred legs but cannot stand, a long neck but no head.
I eat the maid's life.

Posted by Spacey Orange on Aug-24-2005 02:35:

Alright, i'll contribute something. Some of you may know this one.

A farmer is travelling with his fox, a chicken, and some corn. He comes across a river and a boat to cross it, but the boat only has enough space for two (e.g. himself and corn, himself and the chicken, etc). He can't leave the fox and chicken together because the fox will eat the chicken. He can't leave the chicken and corn together because the chicken will eat the corn. How can he get across the river? (He can't get off the boat and swim along side.)

Take the chicken over first (the fox wont eat the corn)

come back

take the fox over leave him there, take the chicken back. Leave chicken there and grab the corn.

take corn over and drop it off (fox wont eat corn)

come back grab the chicken.

voila

Not quite that simple mate, how does he know his own mark isn't red?

The only way one of them men can know for sure what colour their own mark is, is if they can see a red and blue mark on the people sat opposite. Then he knows his own mark MUST be red.

Since all the men are supposedly clever the man who stood up would have expected one of the other 2 men to realise the above fact fairly quickly. Neither of them guessed so he knows that neither of them can see the red/blue combination and since there are at least 2 red marks in total his own mark cannot be blue. So he guesses correctly that his own mark is red.

I think that makes sense

Proof that 2=1 but what part of the 'proof' is wrong?

code:
Let a = b a^2 = ab a^2 + a^2 = ab + a^2 2a^2 = ab + a^2 2a^2 - 2ab = ab + a^2 - 2ab 2a^2 - 2ab = a^2 - ab 2a(a - b) = a(a - b) 2a = a 2 = 1

and it's not the first line thats wrong

the problem is in those lines. by choosing to combine the terms of the left side into 2a^2 instead of ab + ab (or 2ab) the line above you have altered the value of the equation and allow the subtraction of 2ab from both sides which should render the terms equal to 0. that gives the false sense that the left side is ultimately one less than the side on the right and making them appear unequal...

i dunno...atleast that's what i think...

3rd line from the bottom
a-b=0, you can't divide by 0
