I only ever mix in the headphones at home, don't have my monitors turend on.

This is mainly because my next door neighbour gets pretty heafty migraines so it's a bit unfair to crank the sound up. I can monitor the master channel through my headphones on my mixer (as you can on most other mixers, certainly the most common pro mixers) so I just do that mid-mix, quite often switching back to individual channels as necessary...

Good skill to have if you end up in a club with shite monitors, I actually tend to find it easier in the headphones anyway but usually find myself varying whether I use the monitors or not from mix to mix.

You can exchange your Xone62 to 92 in your shop (+pay the price difference)?
If yes, you can buy speakers later but the ability to exchange your mixer you have only now.
+ You will have the best mixer on the planet atm, so you will not have to upgrade your mixer for a very long time!

Thats my op

Dumbest decision ever. How are you gonna mix without speakers? Your equipment is just gonna be sitting on a desk looking pretty until than. Also, hes just a BEGINNER - why in gods name would he get that mixer.

And zizack, I started out with a Xone:62. Im gonna be getting in some loan money some time soon, so Im gonna, finally, get myself a pair of Event monitors. As well as a new pair of phones, probably Tech RP-DJ1200A.

Thats true, but even with shite monitors you cant solely rely on mixing in the headphones because there is a delay between your headphones and the master out speakers.

nice. I had a Xone 62 for a day and freaked out when I couldn't hear eq changes in the headphones so I took it back and got a DJM600. Last year I upgraded to the 92 and love it, and since then I have played out on the 62 a couple of times and realize I was stupid for returning it right away.

The Events are ridic too. I was deciding between those and the top of the line KRK's which I ended up getting and love.

I ordered the JBL speakers with an amp.....the guy in the store said itll come wednesday...so im gonna go rite after school to pick em up. The xone 62 is more than enough for me since i live in a house and mostly will b practicing in the bedroom. and thres no point in getting xone 92 unless i hav speakers to use it on...mite as well stick to something like behringer if i only use headphones...i think i made the rite choice by getting a well built mixer (even if its not the best..(no one needs the best mixer on the planet to b a good dj). Personally, i dont think i should even start with the xone 62..prbly should start with a vestax pcv 275 or smthng...but anyways..im quite happy with the 62 model and the speakers will help me out alot and shuold suond pretty decent with the mixer. Ill let u guys know how it goes in a few days

Yes you can, just stick both ears on and as long as you've got a reasonable pair of headphones it'll block out enough external sound for you to hear what you're doing.

You will still feel a slight delayed bass thud, but you get that with monitors anyway

Well thats something you cant do on the Xone. The Master nor the Channel Fader nor the Crossfader affect the volume in the headphones, so you cant hear what youre doing. The only thing that you can hear in the headphones is when you raise or lower the gains.

On a Xone 62:
Press the Aux button in the top right and corner or the mixer, turn the Aux X-fade knob (the one above the pan control) to 0 (3 o'clock), make sure all the cue buttons are off and all of the aux levels (above each channel) are at 0... and voila - you can hear the master channel (without mic channels I think) in your headphones. Quite long-winded I know! But it does the job.

On a Xone 92 I think you can just turn the Cue/Add Mix knob (on the right hand side, just above the h/p volume knob) round to Add Mix and that'll do the trick.

I think you dont understand my point.
If I would in his place, I would buy X92 + some shitty cheap monitors.
And why getting X92 over X62?
Because some people here on TA said that X62 isnt very good mixer. Wasnt it zizack who posted a thread about the x62 mixer?
For example you cant hear the EQ changes on headphones etc.
I dont think he need the best mixer as a beginner, but maybe he decide to upgrade x62 to x92 in the future and it will be much more expensive to do that after 2 years than now.

EDIT: Found the thread about the X62 I was talking about
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...&highlight=xone

Shitty monitors, no matter how good the mixer, will cause shitty sound. And alot of shitty monitors cant handle some of the more upscale mixers.

Err.. like... if i had the money... that's WHY I'd get the Xone 62s. especially for trance... u can hear what's happening in the rest of the layers in the track, instead of having to estimate/listen really carefully.

SOooooo.... LIeek......... rich dude......

Liek... uhhh........ what's ur adress????

Posted by brian on Sep-10-2005 17:56:

Why on earth would you buy a new Xone:62 and then start asking whether you should get a Xone:92?

The floor vibrated when i hooked up three 16W 5.25'' subs... and the walls vibrated in other parts of the house. I could SEE the mirror on my wardrobe actually moving with the bass. That would cost you about $150AUS to set-up. Which is about $100US.

it doens't necessarily meeans they're better, it's just bass, and the effects of it. Don't be awed by salesman. They just wanna hit a nerve with u and ur emotions... Compare and contrast first ;-)

dude... like where'd u get the money... shouldn't u be getting liek a car and a license or something???

Let me guess... rich parents or something... because if that's the case, ur parents should like beat the shit out of u or something... or themselves...

but if u earned it all urself or got a loan, or a mix of both urself and ur parents... THEN GOOD ON YOU!!!! THUMBS UP! BEst OF LUCK!

Posted by pvdalltheway on Sep-16-2005 19:47:

i had to earn the money myself...my mom said she would help me by lendin me some cash but she had to renovate the basement....and no lol im not rich...honestly...just middle class like most ppl

so far...i really like the mixer...its got great sound and the speakers r awsome...when i turn it up even half way it sounds like im in a club..its awsome....as far as mixing goes...u can monitor it well thru the headphones and speakers when beatmatching...and this mixer is really smthng....the crossfaders, filter, eqs hav such pristine sound...its a good think i didnt get the 92...no point....this is more than what i really need.
