i just meant a record player... as in are there preamps made specifically for converting a phono signal.
and that has been answered

now i just have to decide on what pre amp to get

somebody already pointed out using new stylii. you might want to get a new cartridge for recording only. maybe a concorde broadcast or shure whitelabel. there are cartridges for up to 2000$ and beyond if you have the money and want to go all-out...

yeah right now i am using shure whitelabels... love em

great quality so far

i actually did that all summer. it was the biggest waste of time ever. I suggest you just download every one of your records. Lets say you have 100 records. A record is on average 23 minutes long do the math thats like 40 hours of straight recording. You will regret it!

no it isn't!

for one thing, average "trance" record isn't 23 minutes long.
next, what are you gonna do in case of a fire? I keep my backups seperated from the original records (as in: in a different house).
also, the records keep getting worse over the years from spinning and general aging, too.

then, how am I supposed to download 3500 records from between '91 and now? it's illegal and also impossible to find everything!

well when i averaged all mine they became 23 minutes. a song is around 8 minutes long i have records with 4 songs 3 songs 2 songs. This takes into account all my double records too.

Fine if you have no life then do it I dont care i was just trying to save you some time. And yes you can download anything from the internet. I guess you just havent looked.

I would ratehr download 3500 records than rip 3500 records.
