I was at this party this past saturday night, and I overheard one of the DJ's say this:

"I just got this new Tiesto promo that is straight-up techo with no vocals at all"

If it is true and if I heard him right I would say tiesto, just because he is changing it up and armin is still playing mcprog. I have not heard this tiesto techo yet (but if anyone wants to send me a copy I promise I wont be a leaking asshole ) though so I cannot be sure, I imagine real techno fans would bash the living hell out of it but I don't care about what those snobs have to say.

I have also read some posts on here that hint that tiesto is changing his sound a bit, good for him I say, what is armin sounding like these days? The last thing I have heard from him was ASOT 200 which isnt always the best indicator of what he plays at parties. The last party I saw him at was in 2003.

Let's leave the Producing for Tiesto, and the Mixing for Armin... that's what i think!

Posted by DOOMBOT on Sep-19-2005 14:50:

I choose Armin of course. Tiesto is great and is always changing his sound but I understand Armin doesn't really because he simply likes trance. When you go to see his shows that is all you pretty much here, trance. +1 for Armin.

What articles are you actually referring to where the rise of armin and fall of tiesto is announced? Source?

Or do you mean the usual flame/bash post in here?

Your statement may have made one iota of sense if it weren't fact that Armin used to produce house tracks and spin house before he was tight cast into trance and mcprog by his die-hard fan basis that don't go through change too well.

that's a pretty funny statement, b/c i think armin became popular b/c he didn't just play trance during his sets and his earlier compilations reflected that. and since armin's mantra is "don't be a prisoner to your own style," your statement is even more ironic.

Posted by DOOMBOT on Sep-19-2005 16:25:

I am referring to the times people really began to take notice of him and say he was at the peak of his career. Would be around 2000, when he was playing trance. Which is what he does now, play trance.

So you only like Armin when he began to get tight cast into a genre thus disregarding the fact of your statement that he only likes to play trance and adding in the additive clause of "post-2000".

That doesn't make you a fan of Armin, but only one facet of what Armin does/has done.

productions:
tiesto >>>> armin, why?
in my memory, just be, parade of athletes, tons of classics productions and remixes, while armin 76 and shivers are good or average... armin got some good productions and remixes, but not like tiesto.

mixing (djing):
- live:
years ago: tiesto
nowadays: armin
(but pvd owns both, IMO)

- albums:
tiesto, why??? nyana, isos 1, 2, 3 e 4, magik 1 ,2 ,3 ,4 ,5 ,6 and 7, innercity 99, summerbreeza, etc...

thats my oppinion, cya.

That's the only decent thing you've said in this entire thread. Please leave it at that.

Well, given the fact that I like trance a hell of a lot more then I do house then yeah I liked Armin more once he shifted to the side of music that I like and began playing the style of trance that I like the most. Given those facts, he is my favorite dj and yes I am a fan.

But lets stay on topic here, shall we?

how bout we change the topic, and talk about real music

Posted by LiquidX on Sep-19-2005 17:08:

Armin ASOT owns.. but him live is another subject. I prefer Tiesto livesets over Armin livesets.. that leads me to say that I prefer Tiesto.

slightly off topic, but this is something which has been on my mind for quite some time now:

[noob hatred]tiesto is such a dumbass, he doesnt understand the importance of having a recent set available every now and then on the internet, it seems as if he is trying to avoid live sets recordings....... can we even vote on this fellow? i mean, how do we know what kind of dj he is when his sets arent available

and dont tell me it is not his mistake[/noob hatred]

no seriously, why is this? if you ask me he avoids being broadcasted...

aren't you also the one who pines on about Digweed being so infatuating and blissful and making thread upon thread about him? He spins house and progressive. Wouldn't you at least be marginally interested in your favorite dj spinning something he doesn't normally spin that you also like when spun by someone else?

I made 1 thread on Digweed. And no, I go to see Armin spin trance. I go to see Digweed spin house and progressive. Both spin both genres best to my liking. I would have a horrible night if I went to Crobar next weekend and Armin decided to spin house. That is not why I am going.
