other than that, Soups you have sold me to the idea of buying the book. If it works I owe u big time !

LOL well he could be "smoking" with all the hand action y'know!

Posted by Dr P on Sep-20-2005 08:28:

Soups you shouldn't pity non-smokers. Thats not a fair attitude.

Just feel sorry for them instead.

Anyone who feels they think "you gotta die someday" come see me at work and see how fun cancer is.

Love Poundin' Sensation

err OLi_A are you even a smoker?

if anything its the mental thing that keeps smokers going... I'm a pack a day smoker and I can go on days without a fag and not feel any physical effects. For alot of people its the actual habit of sparking and smoking. Nicotines withdrawal is piss weak compared to some other withdrawals I've been through

People can't quit coz honestly deep down they don't want to. That book may work for you but then if you really think about it, you've always had it in you? without needing some hotshot international best selling book to persuade you.
If you truely do want to stop smoking, then you'll be able to stop. Its just nobody really wants to stop.

coz you look so cool when you smoke!

for the very first time in many weeks i got home from a weekend out with my deck still half full...

had the hardest time trying not to light up on monday but i pulled thru

Posted by G`Dave on Sep-21-2005 10:08:

I can honestly say I've never smoked, ever...
Not one in my life, not even one drag, closest I've come to smoking is breathing in other peoples second hand smoke, and even that is enough to disgust me.

Some people have called me 'sheltered' or say 'I'm not experiencing life' by not atleast trying it once, but after having both my parents go through cancer (they are both fine now, but the probability of that happening was low) I can't imagine how anyone could want to.

If you want to quit smoking, I wouldn't recommend a book, I'd say head down to the peter mac cancer institute, and spend a couple of days in the ward where they send people to die, and more than half of them were lifetime smokers.

Posted by 00soups00 on Sep-21-2005 10:21:

fair point dave.. but even seeing those things (or ads) the smoker believes they will stop before they 'get to that stage'

Scare tactics only work for some people, smokers have the mentality of well im going to die anyway, you have to change that first before anything else.

true that.

still a little reality can put light into some people.

Petermac is an ace place to start.

Im a non smoker but have tried it once or twice, it never stuck because i physically cant breathe in the smoke without falling onto the ground in a massive coughing fit. Pretty embarrasing really and it makes it tough to get high cos i love weed but hate to smoke... maybe i should learn how to bake instead.

Anyway that book sounds interesting even though i dont smoke, curious as to what it has to say on the matter.

Posted by jono4L on Sep-22-2005 05:58:

all the cancer ward will do for most smokers is stress them out more and make them feel the need to smoke.

the book is very good.
