-- how long for you to beatmatch and other stuff
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
CDJ-200's are really easy, as probably most other CDJs are. The LCD display of the tempo allows you to instantly get a good approximation and then it doesn't take long to fine tune it to perfection.
it depends,in my TT it could take any where from 20 sec to a min,now keep in mind that my mixes are usually 1-2 min long
Does anyone use beat counters or the such? I've just bought some cd decks without them, i've been told it's best not to use beatcounters as you don't get a proper feel for the music and will end up a shit DJ.
Counters are innaccurate and also make you rely on them, go to a club without em and you'd be screwed.
I only use mine to monitor how fast I am play the set at that point, and this isn't crucial.
90% of my records I can beatmatch within 85% accuracy (around 15 seconds of play before a trained ear will notice the tracks going out of sync) within 20 seconds, and I usually leave em going for as long as poss to see how much and in which way (I'd rather the track I was bringing in be slightly faster than the one ending, as I find correcting a track by slowdown is easier than by speeding up) the go out of sync.
The other 10% of my records are ones that just have sounds or grooves that arent so easy to sync up, I tend not to use the kicks anymore and focus on making the percs flow on top of one another.
Yeah they don't provide anywhere near the accuracy you need to beatmatch. They only show you the "guestimated" tempo of a track to 1 BPM, ie. 129BPM. In order to keep tracks synchronized for any period of time, you need to match them much more accurately than that.
