Right. My bad, I went to an end of the summer party at Zoom. There were many DJ's there I completely forgot I had heard Tiesto. I'm a burnout, hehe. I'm live in Manhattan, I did a semester at Tel Aviv University fall 99.
I went to Carl Cox & Danny Tenaglia last night. Carl Cox blew the roof off. Dropped his new remix of Slam's- Positive Eduction. PHAT! DT spun from 5 am to 4:15 pm. Thats insane!!! I left at 9:45, got to work at 10:45. where in the middle east u from?

cheers
ps 4th anni is march 30th rite?...
umm...
My roommates all agree. NYC beats LA hands-fucking-down for clubs. LA's scene is like hip-hop now. It's utter shite!
In the early to mid 90's we would all pile into one or two cars and drive to NYC (from New Haven, CT ~80 miles) to hit up Limelight or Twilo. Now we live in LA and last weekend we went to what was supposed to be "...the hottest club in LA..." (whatever) named Giant. What a crap club, tiny as all fuck (three rooms), horrid line (we had some friends back east, so gl/comp was never an issue there...), and well -the vibe was okay, I'll give it that.
We stayed for about 30 minutes then left -we had more fun knocking over traffic cones on Santa Monica Blvd with my car -and yelling "wassup!" to every other car at stoplights than we did there...
Having never been to the UK, I can't comment on the clubs there -but I hear they're hella phat compared to the US.

This is bringing up a topic from a couple of replies ago but I notice Twilo keeps being compared to European venues as far as line-up goes. But that's crazy...first off these DJ's live in Europe and making the club rounds over there is much easier for them. Not to mention that they draw far more larger crowds over there then here in the states. I remember when PvD first started at Twilo and no one knew who he was the club was dead compared to the crowds he draws now 2 years later. Why would someone who can pack a club over in Europe want to come to the states to spin for a half packed club where no one knows who you are. So despite the small crowds and the fact that here in nyc house reigns supreme these DJ's came and spun anyhow....and that's a real testament to the spirit of Twilo! Just my two cents!

I just might be able to make it on the 23rd of march to see nick warren and sander kleinenberg @ twilo. but ill have to pass up on pvd in april
. btw when's the next nu-breed coming out? probably sometime in march? id also like to see D:Fuse (and his cowboy-hat) come back to buzz again. whenever he's here either oakie or pvd would be coming back as well.

Twilogoddess....maybe you shouldn't be so quick to jump on me....if you read my post I defend Twilo...I say that despite every obstacle these DJ's still go there to spin! There's something about that place the draws them back and I don't think it's just the obscene amount of money they get! And yeah PvD draws huge crowds now...but go back two years....I first went to PvD in the spring of 99...that was around the time he started his residency...and he didn't draw anywhere near the crowd he has now! And the point that I was making...and obviously you missed it....was that he kept spinning here at Twilo despite being practically unknown and if he was all about the glory he would just stick to venues he could fill to capacity. Ask any artist and they will tell you it's not kosher to spin/play/or whatever in a place where no one knows who you are and its hard to get your musik. And I totally agree with you that they want to conquer new venues. All I was saying in my orginal post was that Twilo has something special b/c it draws the big names despite the obstacles these DJ's face over here in NY. I was telling the other members of the forum to stop comparing Twilo to european venues b/c its like comparing apples and oranges. Thats all...so next time read a post well before jumping all over me!
I understand what ur sayin
"Why would someone who can pack a club over in Europe want to come to the states to spin for a half packed club where no one knows who you are"
Y Would u make such an ignorant statement like that?
To make a point saying that eventhough they weren't as big over here...refering to the past...that they still spun at Twilo. That to me says a good thing about Twilo...nothing negative about it. I'm saying that there's something special about Twilo that despite all the possible draw backs about playing in the states they still came to Twilo! Hun don't be so defensive I luv Twilo too. I wsn't saying anything negative about it in anyway.
PS I think we know one another.....you're trancegoddess on aol right.....you know my friend Dovid! Small world huh! =)
~Twilochik
It's all Good
Yea. I'm friends w/Dovid.
the whole purpose and fun of being a dj is to be able to conquer new crowds (in any type of venue).. ..which takes alot of patience and the will power to experiment. thats the only way you're going to succeed in gaining recognition in the big picture. how do you think more than half of today's well known djs started out?
