come on... Croatia!

sorry, i like Sweden as well, but Croatia has been like my 3rd fav national team since it existed plus i took them to World Cup winning glory in Football Manager (this is called bragging in a subtle way)

Posted by noikeee on Oct-08-2005 11:55:

by the way, i think it'd be totally hilarious if Liechenstein and Latvia both beat our team and we didn't qualify i'm kinda secretly hoping for some embarassing result

Damn. It would be awesome if Croatia lost, Because they think they're soooo good. And I can't believe that you like Croatia?

Anyways, We've all got our own favourite teams Go Sweden & Serbia & Montenegro

Ive been so disapointed with the Portugese national team. They did well in the Euro but should've beaten that Greek team well so should all the big teams.

The swedes are pretty solid but dont know if they can go far in WC06 if they qualify.

Swiss France today not on TV here but who cares. This one could be ugly. I like the Swiss team but I dont think they can beat a rejuvinanted France side with Zizou back...

RABAT, Oct 8 (Reuters) - Morocco has put police and paramilitary forces on high alert, fearing riots may follow their World Cup qualifier in Tunisia, leading daily Assabah said on Saturday.

Morocco must win the Group Five clash at Rades while Tunisia need only avoid defeat to book their ticket to the World Cup finals in Germany next year.

'Security forces are on maximum alert,' wrote the Arabic language newspaper in a headline.

The report cited an order to security chiefs across the kingdom from the security top command General Directorate of National Security.

Government officials were not immediately available for comment.

'The Directorate has ordered all security officials in the provinces and districts to put security forces on the highest alert to prevent riots, thefts and smashing of car windows especially if Morocco wins in Tunis,' it said.

Assabah said security officials fear that thieves and other bandits would mingle among the crowds, erupting into joy if Morocco beat Tunisia, and embark on an orgy of theft and violence.

Annahar al Maghribia, another Arab-language local daily, said the match 'was creating a popular tension', arguing that a defeat 'will cause more disappointment among the country's youth'.

'We played the Tunisia-Morocco match a thousand times in our mind. Today we will see the outcome,' said the French-language daily L'Opinion

I think they need to put some police outside of Fast's house where ver he is too

Russia wins 5-1 and sets up a show down for 2nd place vs Slovakia

Cameroon out, Ivory Coast in. To be honest I prefer Ivory Coast as a team but Cameroon's manager is portuguese (Artur Jorge). Though one as they apparently missed a penalty in overtime, that would give them the qualification.

Nice to see Ghana in too. They've been impressing for a long time in the youth championships (olympics, U20, U17), now it's time for them to show something at top level.

Togo is a complete mistery to me, any known player from there?

Sweden and Croatia was a giant battle between two midfields that had problems with the offensive play. Sweden started pretty well, But the bloody Croatians started to take over more and more of the game. In the second half it was even again, Sweden was on it's rise and Croatia began to be pretty scared of what to do next. The total shock came when Olof Mellberg took the ball with his hand instead of letting Dado Prso get the chance to head the ball, He was pretty close to the ball, But not close enough in my judgement to make anything special happen from that position. Mellbergs unlucky hand gave the Croatians a penalty that Srna successfully scored to the left of Isaksson. Sweden began to come closer and closer to finally get a chance, But there was no chances for Sweden. The bloody Croatians stood up with 9 defenders in the last 25 minutes of the game and just lifted the ball up to Dado Prso, Who lost the ball, Over and over again. Zlatan was really needed in this game, And I have to say that it would've been way easier to play with him instead of Mattias Jonson. He did a good game, But I'm sure that Zlatan is a better player than Mattias. Anyways, There was no better team in this battle, Croatia won on a misstake by Olof Mellberg, Unfortunately.

But hey!, Sweden's got Iceland at home on Wednesday, And then they'll hopefully go through..
