He put all his emotions and feelings into that track, what became probably his most intimate production ever.

That little song was released on his album 45 RPM under the name "For An Angel", re-released in 1998 with the massive E-Werk Club Mix, and became on of the biggest club-hits ever...

Love is stronger than everything...

Very interesting thanks for that.

None of the people I listed invented Techno. And I guess nobody I mentioned pioneered anything...riiiiight. Several of the people I mentioned are legends of electronic music. Not pop music, electronic music, and are cited as influences to people who did invent techno and pioneer techno. therefore have more relevance in pioneering "techno" than Pink Floyd ever did.

taking a variety of sounds and layering them at different speeds with no particular defining melody, is a type of techno

It's also a type of Trance.

Please, tell us more facts of the artists you speak of..... that's what this thread is about

Here's a fact: If it wasn't for Kraftwerk and YMO, and maybe a few others, half the artists in the EDM scene wouldn't exist today. The same can't be said for Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd reached commercial success as a rock band, it had nothing to do with their electronic music "experiments". The big players of EDM from 1980-1990 don't list Pink Floyd as their influences.

man oh man... i'm not going to make any progress here, so i'm just going to agree and disagree at the same time....lol...

But, I can safely say this... i think that most any producer from any genre would derive some inspiration from PF....

MIDI to USB is still slow in compared to milliseconds, thats why I didn't list what type of MIDI hook-up genius ... The standard serial port is fucking faster than USB ... Reinvestigate you knowledge before tryin to correct me ... or test the theory yourself ... I'll put everything I own on it ... haha ...

Okay this doesn't deal with EDM, but it does deal with music so I'm gonna share my funny little story. About 5 years ago, I went with some friends, and my sort-of girlfriend at the time to Warped Tour. For those that don't know, Warped Tour is a big punk/rock festival with like 3 stages, and vendors, etc... So some of the girls got these backstage passes for helping serve food to the bands before it started. So I'm backstage and this pierced-up, 5 foot tall, scrawny freak is talking to my girl. He looks like any of the other wackos there, so I get up in his face and I'm like yo dude back the fuck off. He starts talking shit back to me, I shoved him like 5 feet back and then he's all in my face like one of those hyperactive attention deficit puppies that trendy bitches carry in thier handbags. This guy's like "dude you dont wanna mess with me, i'm so-and-so the lead singer of who-the-fuck" and I'm like okay buddy, nobody's heard of your stupid band... Anyways, I just cooled off cuz he was a little prick and I didn't feel like getting kicked out...So years later me and that girl's sister, who's still a good friend of mine were watching MTV, and Joel from Good Charlotte is on and she's like "Hey Rob, remember when you almost beat the shit out of him back in the day..." and I'm thinking HOLY SHIT THATS THE GUY?!?! FUUUUCK if i knew he'd have gotten so famous I'd have beat him senseless just to say I did..." Ok I'm done babbling now

Ok, i KNOW that sasha and charlie may are two different persons, was just trying to be polite

better would be: charlie may produces under the "sasha" disguise

Posted by eye_03 on Oct-12-2005 23:23:

i heard that paul van dyk was a carpenter before he was a DJ, thus he is known at the god of trance

edit: i think i heard it from TA

yes, he indeed was, but he didn't complete his apprenticeship because he was allowed to leave the GDR before the wall came down.(ok, it was 2 weeks before the wall came down, so pretty useless, but nobody could know at that point)

Well, the L.S.G. album Vol. 2 was "produced by O. Lieb & Spicelab".

Posted by digitul punk on Oct-13-2005 00:09:

Trance producer Mirco De Govia was/is a software engineer for a reputed software company and he produces music as a hobby mostly.

Ok, but I know for a fact that lsg, oliver lieb and spicelab are the same person, and I know for a fact too that Sasha is Alexander Coe and Charlie May is, well, Charlie May
I love this joy with disguises and multiple names belonging to one person, because some people know about it and some don't

btw, did you know that Ratty is Scooter?

Posted by torontotrance on Oct-13-2005 03:13:

OK where should I start?

Pvd's old work is legendary, Sasha has lost it, tho his 90's stuff was awesome (GU013). Nick Warren is still amazing.....errrr Dave Clarke and Richie Hawtin hate each other (hawtin got new album out nov 1 on minus/novamute). Derrick May is genius but a madman, I still wonder how Jeff Mills does it.

hmmmmm other things I've always wondered

-why Fatboyslim's output has died down in recent years (besides marriage and kids)
-when will tongy retire, same goes for coxy, oakie and jeremy healy
-will Mauro Picotto ever make trance again?
-why Suzanne Palmer's recent album is ace, when 8 top flight producers did it and she did fuck all
-where is the latest biosphere album
-how can I track down rare namlook shit without paying a fortune
-how come lawler's stuff totally kicks arse.
-how fat Carl Cox really is and why does intec kick arse as well
-why has cave gone into the shitter
-who will win the top 100 farce this year (armin or tiesto)
-When will sasha ditch the fuckall abletron and go back to playing his old style of whites and real mixing

i think you missed the point of the thread. by a mile, or so.
