I think you could do the Easy IDs tho... maybe not the other ones as I see your point on them.

But to give everyone (people like me who are crap) you could have about 10 IDs listed as "Easy IDs" which are Gouryella/Rob Miles Children/easy stuff everyone really should know. Would give people some points and not alienate them when they get 2 points from the whole comp.

I guess you could put some utterly impossible ones in there like I said... make them incredibly obscure but give lots of points for them. If someone actually knows them, they deserve the points

I think it would be possible to do the easy ID's too. Especially if were sub-standard IDers doing them like myself & Chris.

Yeah, I've had a think and it's gonna be too complicated.

It was basically an idea where more points are given when tracks have been identified by less participants.

Maybe a simplified version would be that some bonus points are given for unique IDs?

All-time table by points (top 30):

[[ LINK REMOVED ]]

My 7th place is rediiculasely high and only results from being the 2nd contestant with more participations overall.

The_Chris: you might have the poorest average in the top 30, but there's guys with averages of 3,7 and 1,5 way below you

woo i have the second highest average!

No, you're the 8th on that considering the full table. But everyone in front of you are one-hit-wonders..

Those are two different people, and they both have the same usernames still iirc.

Another one we could do is a Labels contest.

Positiva, Perfecto, Code Blue, Armada, Tsunami, Lost Language, Inferno, Bonzai, Black Hole, ITWT have all had enough release to have a contest each. I'm sure theres plenty more too but they're just off the top of my head.

actually i used to think that was a good idea as well, but really...if you know the song name...you can easily find the record label and it'll just be an extra point to all the best id'ers...kind of irrelevant i think...

just another idea as far as fixing the remix point allocation...

what if instead of a full point you got .5 points. so the most you could get for any one tune is 2.5 pts. and the tracks that are originals or edits stay at the 2 pts. doesn't totally get rid of the discrepency, but it would lower the significance of remix names, yet still reward those that can get them correct...

OK, just one final question before I put the samples up:

Say we use this formula for scoring:

quote:
Agreed. Each track should get an equal number of points.

Say each was worth 3 points.

Say - Dreamcatcher - I Don't Wanna Lose My Way (Magik Muzik Dub) <- 3 points

Or - DJ Fire - Jetlag <- 3 points

But - Dreamcatcher - I Don't Wanna Lose My Way (the wrong name Dub) <- only 2 points.

So give each track 3 points, no matter what, but take a point off if the remix is wrong, NOT the way its done now.

How would one score an ID with only one piece of info correct when there is no remix involved? Take Thomas Bronzwaer - Close Horizon. Should I grant 2 points to someone who just has Close Horizon or Thomas Bronzwaer? Or should I just grant 1 and then grant all 3 once the ID is complete?

I'd pick the 2nd option, but to be honest i think the pontuation system it's kinda irrelevant, anything will do unless it's turned completely upside down.

I say only give 1 point if you have only one piece of info correct, 2 for full title but remix wrong/missing and 3 for the full title (if it's the original) and the correct remix name.

That's what I'll go with then. I'll have the next comp up shortly.
