If your just starting out at production.

Just start your sequence off in an 'Am' pad and progress by ear from that. For a lead sequence go crazy on the white keys. Have a bassline go:

BD [X---X---X---X---[
BG [-x-x--xx-x-x--xx[

play bass on the base key of the pad sequence.

You have a basic start to a trance track.

1.1 If you are curious as to the toneladder of other minor keys, manually transpose the 'Am' toneladder(white keys) in your sequencer to the desired key and you can see the notes of the desired toneladder.

Go with 138 BPM, 'Am' scale to make it an easy track to mix into a set.

P.S. If your looking for Major scale remember that the C scale is also all the white keys and apply that knowledge to paragraph 1.1.

Derivative, did you post the extras somewhere? I saw the replies were from 2005/2006, and couldn't find the other scales/chords/music theory threads.
