Thanks, but I already have a day job. Believe it or not, I don't spend all day and all night sitting here dreaming up more clever and fiendish ways of locking threads.

Can I just remind you that TA isn't a free promotion service, Swamper pays a good deal of money out of his own pocket to keep TA afloat, so why should promoters or unscrupulous people (spammers and the like, not suggesting that anyone in here falls into this category) be able to promote themselves and earn money from a free service? Rather unfair.

The other local forum mods generally move promotion threads straight to the Amateur DJs/Production forums, which is theoretically what I should also be doing. I don't because I know people want to share with AUTAs who they know, rather than random anonymous people across the world.

Perhaps you should get a day job away from TA if it really bothers YOU that much

TA is becoming like ITM

But hey i know it clutters up, but it dosn't bother me srolling down.

I posted a mix in the DJs forum.... i got no feedback. I post it here, ITM etc.. i get feedback from the people i know. I don't make a new thread i just post it in the tracklisting thread, but i can understand people's point of view.

Posted by Psygnosis on Apr-05-2004 02:11:

Dun worry Joel, your doin one nice job.. wouldn't imagine how AUTA would be if ya weren't mod

anyways life is too long to complain.. go out, play

I saw that; nice one

The thing with this is it's about the users of au.ta's expectations. Currently everyone is used to looking in here for sets. If we retrain au.ta to STOP looking in the AU Forum for sets, and get them looking in the DJ Promotion forum, you will get the feedback you used to get in here.

Like if people stop posting threads, everyone will start reading here for sets and tracks. It's not too hard to keep up with thread, the ITM production thread was a thread used by over 100 people posting tracks in the 1 thread. This format WORKS.

lets try and keep the self promotion thread to, well, self promotion then shall we?

Posted by jizza on Apr-05-2004 05:42:

jace dude, another quality outing there! (so good it deserves its own thread )

i liked how it was "busy" sounding with all these percussions etc comin in throughout, very much reminded me of tomaz vs filterheadz stuff... well thats my lame attempt at a review of some sort, i guess, what i am trying to say is i like it. shit i shoulda just said that ey.

Posted by jc on Apr-05-2004 08:38:

thanks jizz man

ok, so if swampers gripe is his money. can i possibly pay him a yearly amount to have my own dave's tracks thread under the regular local aus discussion? cause thats where i wanna be.

dave.

Posted by Philby on Apr-07-2004 13:45:

enough jibba jabba! why don't you all stop complaining about not being able to make your own thread about your mix and tell us about it here? so far theres like 2 people actually promoting their stuff. the only reason new tracks etc will be lost, or this thread become "one big unorganised heap(of shit)" is because of stupid posts complaining for nothing.

Did you realise that in your haste to justify your arguement against promotional threads, you accidently aimed it at the incorrect demographic? Because these so called "promoters" who you insinuated shouldn't be able to "promote themselves and EARN MONEY from a free service" are the DJ's, events and venues that are littered throughout AUTA, not the producers .

I mean, amature producers earn so much money from this free service don't they?

So using your own arguement against you, why don't you create an "event thread" sticky it, and lock every new thread promoting an event, because it's rather unfair that promoters should be earning money from a free service, isn't it? Oh and if that isn't a stupid reason enough, I'm a big fat cry baby like lethal, and get pissed off at filtering through threads that I somehow just can't choose to ignore.

And no! If you don't like it, why don't YOU head somewhere else?

^^ that reminds me i never thanked you for sending me a copy of your All Funkd Up one. I thought your mixing was fine tho it wasn't until about track 9 or so (two before the trafik one) where I really started to get into the music but from then on I really liked it. It was good to hear something without a snare roll every 30 seconds. Nice work slade.

Posted by Slade on Apr-10-2004 04:36:

No worries, glad you liked it
