and that is all it is about

Check out the Ron van den Beuken rmx of this track. It's stunning!

I think it's ok too try new stuff and taking risks, Ferry Corsten is a producer that takes risks

Posted by Gumptard on Oct-22-2005 09:57:

Do you lot mean "Like I'm On Fire" with Simon Le Bon doing the vocals? I think it's a great track to be honest and not at all cheesy. It fits right in with the sound that Ferry is putting out at the minute and if it isn't trance, then what genre do you think it is?!?!? Just 'cos it's a bit radio friendly doesn't mean it's cheese. For An Angel is radio friendly yet you wouldn't say that is cheese would you?

Can't stand the Ron Den Beuken remix though...first remix i've heard of his that I've not liked though.

After reading peoples reviws of this I thought it wold be a kickass track and then i finally got to hear it yesterday and boy does this suck major balls!

Fire is a pretty good track imo.. I wouldn't really call it cheese but I wouldn't call it GROUNDBREAKing or phenominal by no means. Great track with a lot remix potential. And those who don't like the track.. well too bad. I love you ... now that's some real tunage.

People who really like this kind of music should really go and dig back those oldies 80-ish synth pop, acid house

Not really feeling the "Fire" track, but loving some of the stuff he's been doing lately. The Creamfields discs are top notch for this year. The first disc is so different from his normal style and disc 2 is in my opinion the best trance CD of the year (yes, I haven't heard J00F's White Label CD, so back off). It killed ASOT, ISOS4, TPOD2, etc. And as much as I ripped on Above & Beyond for beating out Sasha in the Top 100 poll, Anjunbeats 3 kicks all of the aforementioned discs in the ass (except Creamfields)

link to the track please? i would love to hear it

Posted by WingDing on Oct-22-2005 14:23:

guh? what's the big difference between this and what he usually makes. i'm hearing words like "experimental" and "genre fusion" and all i hear is standard corsten schlock that he's always made.

Posted by djbruuen on Oct-22-2005 15:24:

its a pretty cool song, i like it...its has a very familiar style to it such as 'chicane - love on the run'

Posted by miamitranceman on Oct-22-2005 17:20:

I'm a fan of it.

I think that melody is too cheesy and typical for RVDB. But you've got to fail sometimes too make something much better next time

Posted by RickyM on Oct-22-2005 18:36:

sounds nice...would be cool in a club - but is a bit commercially - good when you are drunk

Posted by Nostalgic on Oct-22-2005 19:41:

flashover remix is by far the best mix

Posted by dartrance on Oct-22-2005 19:59:

wingdig: Except that his stuff from 99 - 2002 was 10x better than fire?

Or maybe you just have shitty taste.

Comparing with the "pop"-songs from PvD, Armin & Tisto, Fire beats the crap out of all of them.

Sooooo TRUE!!! .. considering SHIVERS and most of PvD's
hits are VERY pop. I'd give more credit to Tiesto, he
seems to stay in line of things. But Ferry found a
nice middle ground between trance and progressive with FIRE.

I'm really very sorry to say that this track is far from being anything "trance" NOR "progressive".
If you said he found a nice middle ground between "electro", "big beat" and "pop dance", it'd be much more acceptable.

Also, he set his standard high with Sunset. You can definitely hear that he tried to recreate something of that tune with this remix of Fire. I agree that the melody is just too cheesy.

Heheh yeah, but isn't trance always a little cheesy? I like the energy in this track.

Flashover mix for me

No.

Fire is a good track... but Ferry Corsten can do better ones...
like the new with Benny Benassi... way better...
the benassi mix is bad...but ferry mix is so good imo..

Posted by kr00t0n on Oct-23-2005 19:03:

Not a fan of the original, but there is something about the Flashover mix I really like, I don't it's a great track or anything, but I just find the overall feel of it appealing, kinda chilled happy and laid-back

EDIT - original has far too many samples straight out of RYBR
