Actually, if your going to get into radiohead, check out Kid A also. its more of a concept album, a little less friendly, but none the less a very good album.

As for Weezer, basicly stick with the blue album and pinkerton, the rest are filled with well... filler.

Pearl Jam, well im one of the few people who actually owns Lost Dogs and Riot Act (their two recent albums, Lost dogs is a B side collection). They're really damn grungy on their first 3 albums, then move into more alternative progressive rock stuff. Riot Act is damn good, right up there with viatology and yield.

Check out some Led Zeppelin, if you already havent. Kind of the roots of all harder rock, and if you really wanna go back, check out Cream. Cream is really the basis for a few of the larger acts during the late 60s, early 70s. Page, Beck and Clapton were all in that band at one time or another, so think of it that way.

Audio slave rocks hard, pick up both their albums.

The Foo rock hard too, definatly look into In your Honor, basicly their best album to date.

Also, look around for some Wintersleep tracks, their a small indie band from Eastern Canada. Definatly a good band, just havent made it... yet

Oh and yeah Temple of the Dog is honest Seatle Grunge, check em out for sure.

To be honest, why the pointless pedantry? It isn't harming anything by talking about rock music, unless you're some EDM evangalist who thinks all guitar music is satan-spawn.

I love rock music. I stated a simple point that it doesn't belong in this section.

i dont see why not. it doesnt say trance discussion it says music discussion. where else should we discuss music?

Like I said, what is it harming? Better a rock discussion than a sprawling Tiesto bash-fest, or the new What Ishkur Last Posted thread.

It clearly says exactly what music goes in music discussion right in the description.

There are other forums that general topics go like the chillout or region specific forums.

That's my favorite Radiohead album.

Lost Dogs has some good stuff on it, but Riot Act is an overall disappointment in my opinion. Binaural is an underrated album, and they took a step back with Riot Act.

The band you are referring to with Page, Beck, and Clapton is the Yardbirds. Cream is Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Jack Bruce.

Audioslave is a huge disappointment in my opinion considering how good RATM and Soundgarden were.

If by "best" you mean "worst" then I agree with you.

You know, this thread brings up an important question: why isn't there a forum dedicated to other forms of music? I'll bet most TAs here listen to stuff other than EDM, so why don't we have a forum to discuss stuff like rock and metal and blues and hell, even rap? I'd love to see an "Everything Else Music" forum spring up here, and you can be sure I'd contribute to it like mad. Is anyone else with me?

PS. flavdave, you are a class act. You know your stuff man!

i think the fact u heard the name chris cornell and band of rage before they came out u had it set in ur head that they would sound a certain way and when they didnt u were disappointed. personally to me audoislave is good new music.

then again im just a huge chris cornell fan, just as big as i am an eddie vedder fan.

Haha, random small bits of TA drama are always good entertainment.

Thanks for the recommendations all, definitely saw some names in there I haven't heard for a while (and/or only heard through radio).

with liking coldplay then id strongly recommend : Long-View, Thirteen Senses, Snow Patrol and Waking Ashland. Make sure u check all those out.

and a couple others that i personally like

Anberlin
All-American Rejects
The Audition
Acceptance
Alkaline Trio

and ive just realised they all start with A

Yeah, wopes. always get that mixed up. either way, pick up some cream. good old rock I mean, you cant go wrong with clapton

I like Audioslave more then either, more approchable sound, and less filler on their albums (so far). Rage was too involved in politics, and on some occasions put their music on the back burner.

haha, i liked how they sepperated the accoustic stuff from the rock, because on their other albums it really killed the vibe when going some something as hard to something slow.

DEATH TO FALSE METAL!!

Nothing better than some Floyd and Zeppelin.

But if you are looking for something heavier than than what your listening to, I can't stop listening to System of a Down right now. The self titled album, Toxicity, and Mesmerize are all great albums and I am counting the days til Hypnotize comes out on the 22nd of November.

And if your looking for something a bit different check out the Mars Volta, had no clue who they were until I saw them open for System, and they just blew my mind. Reminded me of listening to Pink Floyd.
