That's interesting. I do have a Linksys router.

Let me fiddle w/ that...

been getting this for quite some time with dc++. my speeds start alright at around 70kbps from a good person, and then after a minute or so it drops to 70bps and all the way till 0.

my BT cant go any higher than 30kbps either

fucking rogers, i seroiusly should consider DSL

Posted by drgoodvibe on Oct-24-2005 22:12:

this has been happening to me as well. Except I only use MIRC XDCC Bots for downloading. I'm usually good for speed, but if I download more than one packet or for an extended period of time my entire internet connection cuts out. I'm in North York, so probably on the same hub as the link on dslreports suggests.

Hahaha that sucks.

I still get 300kb/s on torrents and about 100kb/s in DC++.

Torrents seem to be working. I got that cut off thing. Gotta unplug the modem and the router and wait till the fucks shit resets on their fuckin side so i can reconnect. I've been getting that for a while, and I noticed it is often when doing torrents. I would not say it is the pattern, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did that.

one way to stop it is using bitcomet and enablin encryption.

azareus is currently in development, they're adding the encryption which basically fakes packets so they don't look like bt.

I guarantee you and swear on the universe's life that it is a CLEAR, OBVIOUSLY and NOTICEABLE pattern over here at my house.

I KNOW that I am being cut-off ALWAYS when downloading torrents - sometimes when it's only one, ALL THE TIME if ever it is 2 or more at the same time.

I as of yet have not discerned a for-sure pattern in regards to ppl uploading off me. But when it comes to me downloading torrents, I cannot deny that there is a correlation to my being cut off the net until I restart my modem and router!

(But that's only here at my place... I can't say for anyone else.)

It the router man, it can only take so many connections than it goes down. Limit the number of connections to about 80 in your BT client. You should be fine from then on.

For DC++ if you switch over to sympatico, you have to make sure to sign up at dyndns.com and make sure get a dynamic ip. Since sympatico gives you a different IP everytime you log on, your downloads wont work well, if at all.

Im with sympatico ULtra, and get about 500KB/s download, and 90KB/s upload. Im super happy with that

Only problem is that it consistant disconnects sometimes, some days i cannot long on, and soemtimes its good for days.

I download about 100gigs per month through DC, bitorrent and Soulseek, so im definitly getting my money's worth.

guys guys guys , relax, just forget about Rogers, rogers is the WORST company ever in Ontario... i cant think of anything good they have ever done since theyve existed, only stress! hehe

i used to have rogers internet 2 years ago, it got sooooo bad that i just switched to sympatico the greatest choice i ever did in my life, i get non stop downloading at 315 k / second max allll day morning to night, and upload is 80 k max, and im on torrents all day

the thing with rogers is that they share the damn server with ur whole neighborhood, so u only get small portion... bottomline im sure u all know this, i dont wanna seem like im promoting Bell but sympatico IS the best! and only 35$ a month!

I duno why all of you people are bashing rogers. I have been on it for 4 years and my speed was always at least 200k, no disconnects, no loss of service. All online games work great.
A year ago i upgraded to ULTRA HIgh speed and I download constantly at 500k/sec sometimes going up to 800ish and upload at 100k/sec. So i duno may be the neighbourhood you are in matters, but around Square one rogers is pretty good.

Rogers gives me like 350kb/s on BT and the upload is only like 60 but that means nothing to me. I wouldn't change unless they actualy limited my download rate on torrents.
