You don't like PvD because he gets paid? What the fuck?

I think it's more along the lines of he charges too much for what he offers. Considering his performances have declined from what they once were back in 2000-2001 or so, he shouldn't charge 36846549584654 dollars to put on a 3 hour set of mediocrity. Nor should he charge fans $25-50 to see him spin only three hours when other djs such as Lawler and the like who are on fire are only charging about 15-20.

Be Cool!

I have to say Dave and Josh make amazing music/sets. Their stuff is amazing.

You believe PvD is the one that comes up with the figure? And besides, if people are willing to pay it out, and they do... why should he turn the other way? You wouldn't accept 30k to spin for 6 hours? Thats right...

Yes, I believe PvD is the one who comes up with the base figure of his charge for playing. If it were up to the club/promoter he'd be playing for free. Paul probably sets a price and there's negotiation. I never said I wouldn't accept 30k to spin for 3 hours. I'm just saying I wouldn't expect to demand that much if I wasn't playing on par with the best I've ever done. Which he clearly is not.

Posted by Allied Nations on Oct-27-2005 14:02:

It's simple economics. He gets paid that much because people who pay him can afford him and much more.

Would you rather the promoters just keep all that extra dough?

Supply, and demand.

I'd rather they kept that money and used it to coerce other djs to clubs around here rather than having to pay $25 to see PvD every 5 months

Bring me some effin' Zabs' at $15

Im willing to bet 5 dollars they make more off a well attended PvD gid than a well attended JZ gig.

You can't get anyone on TA to understand something like that though.

^^So how are you today? Great great thats real great. How is your gf? Oh really yay!

Posted by igottaknow on Oct-27-2005 15:03:

Stop whining about pvd, He charges what the market will bear. If you don't believe he's worth it then don't go to see him. Now if you don't mind, let's get back to bashing Dave Dresden.

Has Swamper ever validated that the guy using that name on TA is actually Dresden? That would be the ultimate owned if it was someone else, on a bigger level than the net-trannies.

The DJ doesnt choose the clubs cover charge, the promoter does.

yes, according to how much the dj needs to be paid and how much the other promoters/employees need to be paid...

so, cover charge go up in direct proportion to how much the dj wants to get paid.

the whole point of the night is to make money for all staff and the dj.
