well, i say it's trance. i remember a time when trance didn't mean huge pads, enormous breaks and a shit load of fluffy synths all splattered on top. people today thinks trance is hard to make because there are so many layers in it (ie, too many synths). well, less is more.

Yes... but I still don't see the trance in it. It's made by a producer who has a reputation for making acid destroyers, it's breakbeat and it isn't particularly structured like a trance track.

hmm, yeah i guess most people would agree with you. my problem is that (if we take the word trance for what it really means) the rolling basslines, the reverse crashes and the big pads doesn't put me anywhere near a state of trance.

i remember what my friend told me when i told her i thought the original version of "higher state of consciousness" was too slow to be labeled trance. she said that it's just another way of dancing. of course, she'd been down to the beaches of india and probably done a massive amount of mushrooms but it's still true. i'd rather dance to minimal techno than this "standard" trance that people seem to like so much.
