yeah, and it flopped. who gives a shit though? it was just nice to see pvd be excited about SOMETHING when hes behind those decks.

i dont care though. i'll take a dj who can fuck my head with beautiful transitions over a dj who can raise his arms and pump his fists any day. that sure takes a lot of skill.

Meh, all I'm saying is, in 8 years of clubbing, and seeing Tiesto 9 times, he shouldn't even be in the top 50.

I have heard countless bedroom dj's spin better tracks with more skill than I have ever heard him do.

I listened to him trainwreck 3 mixes... IN SUCCESSION, at Global Gathering 2005, and he also made a fool out of himself on Radio 1 with Judge Jules.

People who say he is the best dj since sliced bread, having only seen him twice, obviously havent got much to compare him to.

Look at it this way, say you've only ever eaten lasagne once, regardless of how bad it might be, it's still the best you have ever had.

well ive seen tiesto 25 times. so i guess i like his lasagna. and although yes there are alot of other much better techinically sound djs out there, he still rocks a party. he isnt my number one draw anymore, i would rather see the likes of corsten, edgar v, and gielen live more nowadays, but tiesto is still my man, because he is not scared to experiment and dabble in other styles. this argument will never end and its in everyone's best interest to agree to just disagree. and if you owned your own label you would be off your rocker not to promote it. that shit would be your life just like it is theirs, so to say that perturbs you is disingenuous at best. put yourself in their shoes, they worked thier whole life for that shit, i would be representing my shit too...

Either way, bashing trane DJ's with sayings of "cheese" and "trainwrecking" are probably older then tigerclaw himself, so everyone get a life and continue to jam to all of the trance u hear or jump on that house wagon like most of you are already doing

Do the words "for the love of the music" ring any bells?

No?

Well that's because they have been replaced with the words "for the love of CA-CHING!2

So even you believe that, and formulated that opinion on your own, you're not allowed to voice it because it's a bandwagon?

I challenge that kind of thinking, as it's kinda like saying "Your opinion doesn't matter because a bunch of other people feel the same way (regardless of if it's for different reasons that your own)"

Wheee... hangovers make me confrontational (in the lax way of course )

for the love of music?! the biggest cop out cliche in the world right now. no offense. welcome to the real world, not your mom's basement. at their level its big business, sad but true. and they still put out a decent product, maybe not as good as they used to, but a good one all the same considering all the angles their working. just an opinion...

I do consider all the angles, but then only the ones that influence me are of importance.

Artists don't paint to make money.

I dont go clubbing to be told by the dj what tracks to buy.

It's that simple, 9/10 djs who are mixing for the love of mixing perform better than those doing it for cash.

Not saying djs shouldn't get paid, but it's easy to tell why/when/where some people choose to play

i hate to burst your bubble, but their are plenty of artist that paint to make money and it in no way compromises their love for art. nor do they have to be manic depressive, cut off their left ear and die to be considered a great artist. welcome to the world of contemporary art.
and again to say that most djs dont aspire to reach a wider audience and get paid more for gigs is just asinine and it in no way compromises their love for thier craft. i think your argument would be more valid if these bigtime djs were just complacent and not innovative, but i dont think that is the case with the likes of a pvd or a tiesto, sasha, etc. they all have advanced and enriched the electronic music movement and all will leave a lasting legacy...tho i will admit i hate the in concert concept.
i will agree that yeah there is alot of underground/local talent out there who are just as good, but they didnt blaze the trail...and im sure they would love to be in position to to have such influence in music production, artist development, musical venues, etc. again just an opinion and i see your points.

Darkangel how about you do some history on TA?

Let me help you here.

Tiesto was the most respected and popular dj EVER on Ta between 2000 -2001. Not even armin of today came close to the appreciation this community had for him.

Did he deserve it? Fuck ya. Tiesto in 2000 was the best of trance music. Then again every trance dj was owning back then because the music was so great.

Just download any tiesto set or especially his magik series and its pretty obvious how great he was. He also had dodgy mixing skills back then but the difference was he tried back then.

I am just sick to death of people who started listening to him in the past 2 years and jumped the bandwagon because of his hype and then started hating him because it was the "cool" thing to do without even knowing what tiesto has done in his prime. Which is definately a lot of TA

ps: Ferry is definately the best out of the trance djs right now

it's like the first post of dartrance that made some sort of point

Posted by FallingMoon on Nov-03-2005 20:06:

Honestly I think everyone makes a valid point with the exception of ONE person who shall remain nameless. This person always has an insult to throw into an opinion they state. They've even contradicted themselves on more than one occasion, but hey, to each his own.

It's really amusing that they have even bashed other DJ's but when someone they like is bashed out come the flames.

A discussion or difference of opinion can come perfectly WITHOUT insult or direct attacks.

I'm going to say this again (as many others have), it's like a broken record, NO one has the same taste & if one person disagrees with how a DJ performs, it's solely based on their OWN experiences. I don't understand why people don't get this by now.
This board has gotten to the point that people cannot express ONE view on a subject without having someone attack them.

I've seen so many discussions where other DJ's get flamed and if one person decided to stick up for them, fury gets unleashed at them.

Since this could not continue as a normal discussion without ego's getting thrown around on who knows more about what or who clubs more...BLAH.

I'm closing the thread. This shit gets SO fcuking old.
