I left at 1:30, it wasn't worth being super tired at work (where i'm posting from).

If it got better later in his set, thats cool, but his first half was pitiful, imo.

it got better

like, super grande double mocha latt better. With fucking extra malt. You obviously weren't there when he threw down Advanced and then a whole other assortment of ownage in the tech trance department.

Not cool. I personally know Dan and trust his opinions.

To be completely honest, I am guilty of smoozing with people all over the club. Having said that, I thought his set flow was outstanding. Tech trance in the beginning with little to no buildups. In true PvD fashion his opening track is an eye catcher. And then trancier stuff crept in half way through the set.

I've noticed PvD has been working on his stage presence. Lots of hand gestures, dancing and geniunely enjoying himself. The crowd loved it.

After all these years, I've discovered a little secret about going to a PvD party. Do not listen to his sets often. As I religious did. It completely ruins the clubbing experience.

B+ for PvD

i agree with the listening. i would even add to not see him more than once or twice in a year, just my opinion, of course.

You've hit it on the spot my friend. I noticed that he seemed very much in a good mood. And for PVD, his set progression was SOUND. Like, I honestly head flash backs to when I saw him on his out there and back tour in 2000... Like, all the times I've seen PVD over the past couple of years, he's just been very driven by his own hits, but this set, he just wasn't. I mean, he really tapped into what PVD has the ability to tap into: Amazing fuking music. Like, I dunno how to put it into words, but I think us PVD fans from years back really felt PVD's message last night... That's what makes PVD, PVD... he has this unsurpassable ability to present dance music, WHEN, he gets in the zone... Last night, he was in the zone... I walked away feeling nothing but fulfilled and I've been a PVD fan since 2000... So, for anyone that thinks he didn't own it, you honestly are just NOT a PVD fan, which is OK, but just understand that different DJs present different types of energy and not everyone is in tune with that specific energy, which is why you would think his set might be boring or not up to par

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO----- JOSH WINK---HIGHER STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESSSSSSSSS.... track of the night

Ok so the moment you have all been waiting for: My review of PVD for the night:

Secretly, I must admit that I am a PVD whore. I love the guy and always will. With that being said, last night was a little disappointing for me. I am not sure if it was PVD's set or just the way the night was getting fucked up at every turn.

The lasers at the club were a nice add. Next we get some pyro effects and I will live at e50 every weekend. Hook a brother up!

The set itself had good flow, and like Scott said, PVD did do some much need work on his stage presence. Some really good tracks but you know that I can not track ID worth crap so we will leave that to the professionals.

As far as Gavin and getting kicked out. Too much drama for my blood. I spent most of my night either fighting with one of the meat heads that tried to throw him across the VIP section or fighting with the head of security who threw him out. Don't hit on any other men's wifes at the club!!! It only leads to bad stuff! J/K

I met so many new people that were so cool. Sam, I am glad I could make a new myspace friend. You are even more beautiful in person. (shameless flirting over!!) Pete, good to see you again and remember it this time. Thank you for the hookup and the place to sit. Matt from FL. Glad you could come up son. You are too hardcore to drive 14 hours for one PVD set. Come back anytime.

On two last notes, Greg and Cynthia, you disappoint. Way to represent the older aged kids, by not making it at the club long enough to hear ANY of PVD's set.

And finally, my only review of the after party is just to say, ACE IS THE PLACE! (and that hammock is pretty comfy at 8:AM!)

In Greg's defense, he was hammered. At one point, as he was pouring himself a drink, he completely missed his cup and poured the vodka onto his arm. Had he kept up the pace, there would have been two TAs thrown out of the club.

Thanks for the backup scott.

I'm just saying that my expectations were not met. This was the Politics of Dancing 2 Tour and the energy that I get out of the two cd's contained in that album was definitely not the energy that I felt when I was at 1150 last night.

Its cool to play other stuff sometimes, but i was expecting to hear the tracks that i love off the album and it didn't happen (nor did i think it was going to) so i left. Wednesday night show with work in the morning. If it had been Friday or Saturday, i would have sucked it up, found Gavin, and ordered some Jagerbombs and joined him in the supposed kicking out

I'm still a PvD fan.

EDIT:

Oh yeah, and the lasers freakin rocked. Esp from the balcony. It looked like one of those death laser grids like in Resident Evil movie.

youre the fucking MAN dude!! and PETE too for hooking that shit UP! maddddd props

yeah, chillin in VIP definitely makes eleven50 much different... but the bouncers are still FUCKHEADS! not only did i get kicked out of the club for doing something i didnt do (how can a bouncer kick you out of a club, without seeing anything, taking one person's word over another?)

but they also kicked out one of samantha and pete's friends from tennessee - for being too DRUNK - in VIP!! now... what the FUCK!

you'd expect a little more respect for the patrons of your club, whether or not youre in VIP doesnt matter, these guys are just pricks.

but thanks matt and brandon for saving my ass!! i really do appreciate it, even if i was angry as FUCK (and still yelling at the head bouncer as they were letting me back in haha! )

anyway

pvd's set was aight, nothing extraordinairy, but certainly more than i was expecting!!

thanks george for bringing the laz0rs down too, shit was SICKKKKKK!!!

the REAL treat of the night was AFTERHOURSSSS!! place was WAY more packed than ive ever seen it, phylo was rockin it, and whoever was in the house room was RIPPING SHIT APART!!! we left at around 7 so peeps could go to work haha, but shit was STILL going strong, and peeps still showing up!

bottom line: pretty fun night, awesome meeting a bunch of new peeps (SAMANTHAAAAA! youre da BOMB!!!), fun chillin with the whole co-ray-zee crew,

but uhhhhh, aside from seeing scott (and if by any slim chance devin brings some really awesome house djs), im never wasting my time or money at that club again

[/rant and rave]

i know i'm a huge pvd fan who hasn't been swayed by whether he has sucked the last 2 years or not. and i've noticed a whole trend in how a lot of "pvd fans" or EDM listeners in general, switched their favorite DJ to some prog house DJ. i never understood why, and i don't really care. but i must say that that set was amazing. i know i can say for myself that i stopped listening to a lot of EDM all-together (but not losing any respect for pvd or his placement as the #1 dj in my eyes). and that may be part of the reason why i enjoyed that show so much. i had the BEST time. it was great, and by far the best i've heard him in atlanta. the music, the vibe, the communication, everything was wonderful. it wouldn't be hard to doubt that i would give him an A++++++++++++++.
