I know i do and i still love em both..

it's not the money that makes us hate them
when DJs get rich & famous, somewhere down the line they get their head stuck up their rectums

then they get lazy and use as little effort as possible when DJing cause "why work harder when the money still keeps coming???"

obviously tiesto is a prime example cause all he does is wave his hands in the air 95% of the time, cause he knows he can get away with it

Yep, and sadly Armin seems to be headed that way. I mean, he's not even number one and he already has his "in concert" show along with some MC guy that sounds strangely similar to Tiesto's balding fatass that follows around saying he's the best hoping to eventually taste Tiesto's bag.

Weak.

In any case though, Armin > Tiesto.

Ahahahah, I really hate the MC's

I call this the "Britney Spears" defense. Basically, if I insulted Britney Spears, this is exactly what one of her fans would say every time.

I know this doesn't totally answer the poster's original question, however I think this could place a little perspective on the thing. This is, in the end, the internet. If someone blasts and/or flames you on your choice in music just remind yourself (and even them if you want) that you don't really have to care because you don't know them. Once you close the internet window or even go to a different site, that person's opinion doesn't even have to "exist" for intents and purposes.

Who cares what outspoken_and_opinionated_420's view is on Armin or Tiesto? I like Armin. I like Tiesto and I don't care if someone on here thinks I am an idiot n00b because of this.

Posted by Numidia on Nov-14-2005 18:29:

I think there's definitely truth in what someone said earlier that a bi-product of popularity is hatred. Those who don't like Armin or Tiesto for their music and don't understand why they're so popular develop an intense dislike for them.

There's also trance purists who resent the fact that both of these DJ's have, for the most part, stopped supporting the original form of trance. Whether you call this new stuff still trance or prog doesn't matter, there is no debate that it is different than the original form of trance they played 99, 2000ish.

Yeah, and Armin's doesn't sound nearly as legitmate since he can only say things like "the dj who's been voted into the top 5 a few years in a row".

Everyone's response is more along the lines of "Well, no shit."

Basically, in the end you'll like who you like and who was marketed the best. I'll agree that this is, in fact, the internet. It doesn't matter who says what about who. I just hope to god that Armin doesn't bring that fucking MC around with him to every show since I plan on going to another Armin show sometime in the future and I would rather not hear some British man talking through all the track buildups like Tiesto has.

In my opinion if you like them it shouldn't be a problem for you. And you should respect others TA's taste. Personally, I like Tiesto because he has very different style to other DJs. Moreover I bought some clothes with logo of Armin Van Buuren and soon teachers started to ask me : ,,who is the person you have on your T-shirt ? " I told them it was DJ AvB, I liked him and it was a good idea to express your personality or sth like that. Another fact is that I started to listen to trance when PvD's CD ,, Raflections" appeared. Since then I've been TA. But I still search for new sounds so Tiesto, AvB are not the only DJs I like. Nevertheless I agree with you - they are really good !

I like Armin but am not really fond of Tiesto's music, however I do like a couple of his tracks. This is just an opinion though. Everyone likes there own music.

I'm sorry but most of the people who "hate" on them do understand why they're popular. They did music who pleased the masses, and then jumped on every oportunity to build on the popularity they had gained with their music.

A whole different matter is if what they do is wrong.. but most people seem to agree they don't deserve, at all, the popularity they have currently.

I don't know what group of people you're refering to. But the reason why many "trance purists" bash them is because they never played "real trance".

(and i might just take this oportunity to admit i really jumped deep into this early 90s trance bandwagon.. after all one year and a half ago I liked Armin and the likes. but this shit sounds awesome at times )

I think I'd piss my pants if I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt with a pic of Armin at school

I'm a huge fan of Armin, he's probably my favorite DJ. One of my favorite parts about him is that despite all his success, he still seems pretty grounded. He's not all about himself and still plays to the fans and signs a ton of autographs and such live.

I've seen Tiesto twice and both times I was very disappointed. Didn't really enjoy his sets and he was like a statue behind the decks. I do love a lot of his production though and Parade of the Athletes is one of my favorite sets.

A good way to look at it is just enjoy what music you enjoy and don't get too hung up on the opinions of others.

Armin still does seem rather "grounded", but I have been noticing him slip a little bit as time goes on. However, he still puts out a new radio show every week, with some new tunes in them pretty frequently, so, I guess as long as he does something like that, you can't hate him as much as Tiesto.

maybe because trance sucks balls nowadays?

Posted by Numidia on Nov-15-2005 22:55:

Real trance is better than it's ever been. Download a recent Precision or Manuel Le Saux set and you'll see what I mean. As for that prog most other dj's play, ya it blows ass.

Posted by Ek0nomik on Nov-15-2005 23:29:

Eh, the whole "x is dead, y is on the rise" argument is lame.

Posted by iammesol on Nov-15-2005 23:35:

Armin jacks every other DJ's style. That's why I hate him. As for Tijs, that mug pwns.
