I've never actually heard or spoken to anyone who attended one of the events other that the uk ones (creamfield/gatecrasher).

Anyone lucky enough to have been there (cuba, space, china). I did hear someone saying that these sets were pre-recorded (not live) but I don't want to believe that.

Posted by tctitan on Nov-29-2005 19:47:

u can get them still from the djmixes bt section. if not, if someone has cue files for 'em i'd be happy to host them somewhere

sadly i could see that being true... but how would that play out... he'd just hit the play button while at space or shadow lounge?

Oakenfold - Live at Creamfields 99

This really really got me into trance. Flawless mixing and excellent track selection (More & More ftw!)

Posted by TaylorR on Nov-30-2005 03:57:

his mix compilations and albums are also very great.

Okie kicks ass

I *heart* my Chris Sheppard sets.

Oakenfold's 2 year Residence @ Cream 2xCD is or is not part of the Essential Mix collection from 1999? It sounds live, but I've always wondered if it was.

it's a live cd, but it is not part of the essential mix world tour which everyone here is referring to... the essential mix world tour was part of the bbc's essential mix radio show hosted by pete tong (still exists today).

Posted by Mebot on Nov-30-2005 16:14:

Yeah i know EM still exists today. The predictable "always the world's best DJs on the world's best turntable..." blah blah blah.

I just didn't know if they took out Tong's intro for that set. Guess not. Thanks for clarifying.

Resident

I could be wrong but i remember reading somewhere that resident isnt live - rather there are just some "live" effects added to ther discs.

Thats correct. Its not a live CD, although all the crowd noises are recorded and sampled from the Cream crowd.

Lotherton Hall and space are the best, but the hole tour is awesome! goosebumps still on every track

Yeah that set completely rocks. Does your copy fade out just before the breakdown of "Zombie Nation" at the end? Mine does and it's annoying because you can just hear the crowd starting to go mental; at that point, in real life, when the melody came in Oakey turned it right down so all you could hear was the crowd singing along - one of the biggest reactions I've ever heard for any record. Shame it didn't make it onto the mp3...

Yea that's true; if you listen carefully you can hear the crowd noise sounds like it's on a loop at times to make it sound longer than it really was! It's most noticeable during the breakdown of Tilt - Children. Still my favourite mix CD ever.

Posted by keithos27 on Dec-05-2005 15:24:

^did not know that (about the Resident CD not being live)... that's kind of disappointing.

what you're about to hear..... symphonic music.

apparently there are 500 copies around (promo sheet says so as did one of the producers) but I only know 4 people who have it.

Did you include yourself in that group of four?

Posted by keithos27 on Dec-05-2005 16:11:

yes

Posted by bluelimitd on Dec-05-2005 20:43:

Oakenfold's EM world tour is what got me hooked on electronic music, specifically his Ibiza set.

IMO, I don't think trance music will be that perfect ever again. We've been to the top of the mountain, if you will, and it was good.

^haha... i love that quote of butthead's.
