Um, not really. Hobos are homeless migrants that carry those bags tied around sticks. Rednecks, on the other hand, have homes and the money to do things like hunting and watching NASCAR, etc.

Hobo -

Redneck -

yes i'm well aware of what the difference is between them...i just couldn't find a synonym that continued the "o" theme... (metro, hetero, homo)

hillbillysexual just doesn't sound as good alright?

What you seem to have some much trouble grasping is that it isn't one or the other.

You don't have to dress yourself up in ridiculous and impractical attire in order to keep your body in good physical condition. Skin moisturizer is not an essential part of maintaining good personal hygiene. And none of those four seperate conditioners you use in your bi-hourly showers is going to soak into your brain and make you any more knowledgeable about the world in which you live.

Being a metrosexual has nothing to do with maintaining a healthy lifestyle, nor does it bear any specific relevance to one's education, sophistication, or personal hygiene. It's about wearing certain clothes, using certain kinds of products and services, and presenting yourself in a certain way - none of which offers any objective advantage to one's physical or mental vitality whatsoever. It is a purely superficial quest for a personal image that some will see as beautiful and others will see as ridiculous.

Yeah, sorry, the one word post didn't make any sense to me because I'm not up on my Great Depression-era vocab. For all I knew, it was some slang I wasn't familiar with.

uh i don't think i have trouble grasping anything about the concept.

i think something that a lot of people, perhaps including yourself, seem to have a hard time grasping is that really what this whole thing is about is a dedication towards a better lifestyle, but people are too often wrapped up only in the physical aspect because it's the most obvious. i don't think i'm so wrong in suggesting that as a rule, people that take care of themselves physically will strive to excel in other areas of life. you say metrosexual has nothing to do with a healthy lifestyle and i say it has everything to do with that. metros are interested in an urban way of life...which is among other things, the pursuit of achieving a certain personal image as you said. and while being healthy or intelligent might not have anything to do with moisturizing or whatever you want to say...but the mental state which drives the desire to do things such as that is also going to drive other aspects of a person's life including a desire to learn and be physically fit. so yes people can be healthy without wearing certain types of clothing...and yes people can have genius without keeping a nice appearance, but i think there is some level of connection for a lot of people that have the metro mentality.

so yeah it's not essential that people have this lifestyle to be healthy and it's not an independent trait of people who do, but i think those that care about themselves will more likely find certain things about being metro attractive...

Ive just come up with another new term: "Plectopheltcher":

1. When a person dose not read between the lines & then responds with what they believe is a rebutal or arguement; but does not realise that they are in fact confirming the originators statements.

& i'm not implying that anyone in this thread is a Plectopheltcher

i don't think i was owned at all...perhaps you guys can't understand what he wrote and what i replied with.

he said being metrosexual has nothing to do with health and intelligence...

i said directly no it doesn't, but i think there is a relationship between the mentality that would cause someone to care about things that are considered metro...and those things related to health and learning.

I support this term and will work it into a sentence out loud sometime today.

Finally! A term that describes me almost perfectly. Oh, and I heard it's not the WWF anymore. You might want to double check that.

what do you consider 'metro' then? hand moisturizing, exfoliating, too much hair gel and sweaters that match your socks? taking pride in appearance is not limited to a label.

Posted by Mebot on Nov-18-2005 07:08:

homersecksual.

During a routine disciplinary visit to Principal Skinner's office, Bart must call Moe's Tavern looking for his father, Homer. But when Moe answers the phone, Bart preempts the original purpose of the call and substitutes one of his trademark prank-calls. Instead of asking for his father "Homer Simpson," Bart asks for "Homer Sexual." With the prank thus launched, Bart quickly hands the phone to the Principal, who is shocked and dismayed to hear Moe Szyslak's resulting tirade.

pride in appearance or sexuality should not be limited to a "label"

of course not but........

metro - being metropolitan (PARIS, ROME, MILAN, BRITAIN, BERLIN.....fashion houses)

meant a competitive environment of dress and fashion.

farmers don't give a fuck if they got pig shit under their fingernails.

Nor do they wear pink!

there lies "la difference"!

SRSLY!

(HOMER + MOE)= HOMERMOE - MERE = HOMO

The theory has been proven!
