Indeed
for the ppl who say there are unknown djs better than tiesto and others.
well yea, this is not only in electronic music. doesnt ur neighbor sing better than britney spears, or doesnt she dance better than her?
we need to have big celebs like this, cz if we dont, we have such a wide range to listen to, which is impossible. instead, famous celebrities symbolize the music they sing or play. so tiestos the best in publics view(overall, this has to do with advertising and everything in order to be liked), he symbolizes TRANCE music, so if he plays a ghetto song thats not even trance, ppl will still think its trance because tiesto played it and they refer to him as TRANCE dj. his music to the ppl become the standard, the way he plays also becomes ppls standard and expectation. if he plays a trainwreck, that will be TRANCE mix, and if your local dj plays an awesome set that doesnt sound like tiestos, than ppl consider it trainwreck.

HA, is very funny to read a sentence like "they dont know how to have fun" from a person that wasted an afternoon changing the lyrics to make others laugh.

A good example is when people say Tiesto, people say: "ew" Then when people say Gouryella, people say: "thats amazing!" Just something to bring to the forefront. |

The big names are good ways to get the genre out there, but let's face it... with fame, they get lazy and start spinning two hour pre-recorded sets with the same tracks.

Nice read, that comic, albeit a bit tedious towards the end and as others said, every music style has its share of fanboy numbskulls.
Why does it matter who likes what DJ?
Enjoy the music people!
From most of the opinions being boasted here in this thread I have come to the conclusion that certain people bash the big name dj's because they are overrated and hyped to the extreme and that there are plenty of amateur dj's who spin way better than they have. The problem with that statement is this:
1) Tiesto
2)Armin Van Buuren
3)Paul Van Dyk
Now here is your local dj for ya:
1)Local Amateur DJ
My point is that each of those dj's in the first list have made and continue to make contributions to trance while the supposed and better amateur dj is praised for his/her ability to beatmatch versus the amount of work the big name djs have put in. Now had those big name dj's done nothing for the trance scene then I would agree that they are overblown. But I think the hype and overratedness is justified by their work done over the years.
They have done nothing for, and have only taken away from.

Producers should get more recognition than DJs.
It should not be: "TIESTO IN CONCERT!!!!!"
It should be: "MR PECULIAR & TRISTAN!!! mixed by some guy called tiesto"
I suspect that a lot of people underestimate a good dj's ability to tie together disparate elements into a unique vibe that feeds into the partyers and loops back to the dj, determining the direction in which the set progresses. And that's just the 'juke box' dj's - when you consider the level of input from freaks like Zabiela who effectively remix tracks on the fly, it's a whole other world.
