Yeah, I guess I should. I just get turned off when I hear this name-calling back and forth on 680 news and I thank God I don't waste my time on these matters...I'd rather postwhore about NOTHING all night long!!!
Posted by Jayx1 on Nov-28-2005 22:49:
you should be just as pissed off when the liberals use empty scare mongering tactics such as "hidden agenda". Seems to me that the Liberals have had the hidden agenda. so hidden that it was in fact illegal.
At least the conservatives attack the liberals based on TRUTH and FACT.

This is exactly what's wrong with democracy in Canada. Say what you will about those "redneck" Americans, at least they're politically educated and KNOW who they're voting for.

lol what a stupid post.. please explain why there is no way in hell you are voting for harper? Do you actually have a reason or u just read the Star from time to time? How is harper going to be a worse choice than a liberal government that has just been proven to steal money from canadians? among many other things.
lol i love these political threads, theres like 5 people tops that actually know what their talkin about and back it up. Everyone else just spews what they hear on the grape vine or what they read in the liberal star. Time to learn about ur parties man... if u actually knew i think u'd be saying theres no fucking way in hell that ur voting for martin.
and to those that dont vote because you dont like any of the parties, like it was said before, might as well just go vote liberal.

yea...whereas Canadians, such as yourself, time and time again vote for the same people that, time and time again, downright steal from the public.
This year alone proved, with FACTS, that the Liberals can't be trusted anymore, whereas the distrust towards the Conservatives is purely based on speculation and probability. Are you that closed-minded that you'd rather vote for somebody who's known to be a liar, instead of someone who MIGHT be one?? Give it some serious thought
I swear, you people (the ones siding with the Liberals) are missing the bigger picture here. It's been PROVEN, time and time again, that this party CANNOT be trusted anymore. Yet you're still willing to vote for them for the simple fact that the media says that the opposition can't be trusted??
And you say Americans are uninformed? LOL...if something like this happend in America then Bush would've been out of office a long time ago. I may not agree with the Conservatives on a lot of issues, but it's obvious that the Liberals have gotten a little too comfortable in their position and have blatantly abused their power, and it's time for them to go.

What history?
The Conservatives are a different party from the Progressive Conservatives. The Conservative Government is much more aligned with the old Reform Party of Canada.
Boy were they retarded when they kept Conservative in their name... Shoulda been the Reformatives or something neato like that

I am concerned about the Liberals change in philosophy regarding spending over the last few months.
The Liberal party is now -truely- a liberal gov't - on social issues and now on fiscal issues.
For the last 12 years, they've (the Liberals) been socially liberal but fiscally conservative. The last few months - they've spent like a typical Liberal would.
------
Social liberalism is something I advocate. Fiscal liberalism is something I despise.
So the question is: Vote for the separatist-supporting Conservatives or the spend-happy Liberals? Tough coice. |
I think Martin has had a major role in that for sure......as a business minded rightwing liberal.
and for the record - almost every post that RJ posts about the government - I very much agree.
I was a young Liberal for 4 years (1986-1990) and do follow politics as well.
As much whining of corruption within this Liberal government by non-liberal supporters - it began in corporations under a Conservative (BIG BUSINESS alliance) in the 80's with big money and excess expenditures; cooked books/deceit and forgeries - if conservatives advocated such "BUSINESS CORRUPTION" in the 80's why would it be any different if the Conservatives had the BUSINESS of running the "Government corporation"??
Groundwork was layed for a cult of corporate shananigans and lies (simultaniously as well with the USA) and therefor it has sickeningly become commonplace for this to continue because we are unable to breakdown these big business/corp set ups and start again with more transparency and lawful practises.
I think the Liberals should use these examples of insider favourtism and greased palms to implement changes that the public will go for.
Create more transparancy - hold more accountability. It may hurt them as well as party....(reformatting)obviously because the track already laid is easier to travel. But they have a real opportunity to make a change for the better.
If only we had a Prime Minister as GUTSY as Bush for striking a major cord within the country. HAHA maybe in a way Cretien/Martin have - distrust because of dirty business dealings.
While Bush hostages his country below with Conservative thought and policy - we have the ability to rise above such restraints and counteract with a visionary LIBERAL change of our political climate.
Economy will always be important to Canada but the needs of the diverse group of people we call Canadians can only be met with a Liberal policy in many ways - Canadian demographics and foundations have changed quite drastically over the last 2 decades and a culutural diversity can only flourish within a changing structure encompassing new ideas and relationships. Conservatism is like Grandma - very nice because of the consistency of product put forth but often outdated and lacking modern social ideals that are inclusive to all people.
My 2 cents.......
I did basically just wanna agree with RJ - as previously stated - I meant to post with agreement as few times actually.....the fact I feel compelled to type this now......UGHH!!!.....sorry.
I am groaning at this next election campaign. I really hope some REAL CHANGE comes of this within the Liberal party and they use us (voters) to make things more forward thinking and create radical change for the better long term. Young people need to be more involved!!!!!! Hello TA?????? YOU!!!!! SO IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!
The Liberal party does have the perfect opportunity to redeem itself - I hope they use it.
But I fear Martin must leave for this to truly happen.
I personally have more recognized rights as an individual because of a Liberal government. I will forever be grateful for this. We vote to reflect our own desire of individualistic govermental ruling upon us. I have always felt more secure with forward thinking ideas - the world is not what it was yesterday nor will it be the same tomorrow. Stagnation means death.

Well if thats how you feel then you will guaruntee that this will always be the case. If we punish a government for corruption the next one will think twice before doing something wrong. If we dont punish corruption it will get worse and worse.
Its a simple thing called classical conditioning and right now we are conditioning our politicians that they can get away with stealing. The result will be more stealing on a bigger level. |
it should have been stopped/punished by Chretien after the Mulroney government - but we had separtists on our hands then and what happens???? Same as the business mentality of the Mulroney years - we became busy keeping interests happy with favourtism.
IMO
A Canada divided - that would be horrible.
DIVIDED + UNEQUAL would not = Canada anymore.
This aspect of the govermental powers that want control at any price should be held accountable for the ability to RUN A COUNTRY not a province.

so your 2 main points are missle defence which is so far off harper will be out of office by the time its seriously considered, he'll spend a lot on the military? hasn't the government just spent on new helicopters? our military needs an upgrade bigtime, even if its only for peacekeeping, Canada run a massive surplus in the budget so its not going to hurt the country, meanwhile liberals just bribbed you with 30 million in tax cuts etc to get votes, many of which were conservative ideas which where mocked at the time, but now everyones embracing them because the liberals did it, lol what a joke.

you think they learned their lesson? what basis do you have for that statement? They've been corrupt the whole time they've been in power, with martin as finance minister. I think you mean they finally got caught, got in trouble, so now they wont do it again right?? lol well yea lets give them another chance, 12 years wasn't enough. meanwhile harper is an idiot? for what exactly? How is he an idiot and most of the liberals aren't after whats just been proven?
